Hey B. Just wanted to say thanks for this. I am a new installer and I had my first Samsung Frame 50" today. After watching your video installation was a breeze. The customer didn't know I was a total newb. Thanks again!!!!
Love this video, thanks for sharing it with us. I have a 55" frame coming next weekend, and as a renter, I was concerned about cutting into the wall for concealing the cords and conduits. I love that since I won't be hiding the cords, it makes installation that much easier and straight-forward. I will have a barn door tv stand sitting underneath the hanging tv, so I know the cord won't be obvious at all. I mat still get the cover for it. This was so helpful, thanks B!
Was just about to put mine up today (after watching your other videos), so was glad to see a new one. But this is going in our living room so I picked up the Legrand box so all the wires stay hidden. Your other videos on this have been a big help. Lets hope it goes well.
Excellent video!!, i work through handy app and some customers want wire inside wall but i always tell them that wire is not prepared to be inside the wall by code, unless you buy the upgraded wire that cost like more than 250 dollars that Samsung makes it. Excellent video and proper installation!!
Yep, we have stonewalls in our apartment (we are from Denmark). And the wire is hanging out, but it isn’t very noticeable 😀. Greate videos by the way👍.
Have installed quite a few frame TVs over the last month. I notice that our Aussie models come with a plate position template in packaging. They are easy to install and simple to connect. As a fellow installer, I enjoy your content always. Cheer’s
Another helpful video! I'm picking up my frame this afternoon. I have an in-wall channel where the wires will go to the one connect box in a cabinet below. But there is a power outlet that will be behind the tv. I don't plan on plugging it in there, but will the outlet keep me from getting the tv flush on the wall? Thanks!
Great video. Lost the template in our move so this was perfect. I had box of those exact drywall anchors but they wouldn’t set in the hole properly due to Vapor barrier and insulation in the wall. They’d snap. So there’s a series of half inch holes my wife won’t know about until she decides to redecorate.
You do a great job of explaining to the average person. Looks great - will be mounting outside til we move, then will invest in one of those boxes for our next place.
Great videos, you have the most frame tv videos. I was considering this tv for my bedroom remodel and your reviews help me make my decision. I just preordered the 2022 Frame TV can't wait for it to come in next month.
Hey B!, just wanted to tell you I got my 50" Frame up yesterday using the Legrand box. I was able to do it all based on your videos and appreciate the great advice and instruction. It looks great and I am happy knowing I did it right.
This video helped us out loads today. We thought the clips were broke when they moved around so much but after watching this we released that they were supposed to so you can adjust the TV on the wall. Thanks, very helpful!
Thank you for video and comment TT. I understand that the clips are designed to unclip themselves from the mount to adjust the TV but why go to the trouble of aligning everything so minutely to start. As soon as you hang the TV the hangers HAVE to disconnect themselves from that big screw in button. How do you then push the TV flat against the wall so the magnets engage.
The wire would drive me crazy as I would see it every time I walk into the room. Granted it is a very thin wire and "most" people would not notice it. I decided to install mine using the OnQ box and run power from another outlet below.
so with the "slim fit mount" there is always a little extra gap at the top correct? I just installed a 65" frame tv and the bottom was no gap, but the top had a gap.
All TV displays should be designed like this. There is another post here on YT, that discusses the advantage of having a video receiver connected to a "display" to separate the two devices in the same manner as audio equipment. In the case of video, this solves a the age old problem of hiding wire(s). The idea of having 1 wire of power, video, and audio from a video receiver would prevent the chaos of tech protocols that infest today's tech requirements. Example HDMI 2.0-1-2-3-4 etc. If we could limit these things to a separate video and/or audio video receivers, and make displays open architecture, then the most expensive part of the system is free from obsolescence and cutting the cost of the unit.
Probably could've gotten away with just 2 snap toggles on the left and 1 plus the stud fastener on the right (less holes in the wall). Those snap toggles are strong enough to support quite a bit of weight if I'm not mistaken. I also would have used a different method for securing the one connect wire to the wall as well as getting it as straight and taut as possible (command strips maybe or some type of fastener similar to thumb tack). Would've been a no go on the rusty washers to lol, not a big deal I'm just OCD lol As expensive as the Samsung frames are you would think the design would be a lot better thought out. The one connect is annoying and not installer friendly. I had a guy move his media stand while the one connect box was still connected and he ripped the cable setting him back like a 150 bux for the cable. I don't know what they were thinking when they designed the interconnect and the mount and mounting hardware. Awesome vids as always, love watching your install content.
Do you lose any functionality of the one connect box if you mount it in the wall? Will the remote still work as well with it in the wall? Will the box get to hot inside the wall even if you use a AV mounting box?
Great video B! Ive been running my own Tech installation business and im just now getting started on youtube. Im trying to become a TH-cam influencer like you one day!
Thanks for the video. Can you explain earc and how a soundbar should be installed to maximize the sound. I read that you won't get better than 5.1 sound unless everything is connected to soundbar. Is this true?
For a TV that is designed largely for the aesthetic appeal, it's amazing how poorly the product is managed when it comes to the cabling. The "invisible" cable bundled with the sets is not in-wall rated. Samsung does offer an in-wall rated cable (the "2019" VG-SOCR86U/ZA) and while it apparently works with the 2020 & 2021 versions of the Frame, Samsung doesn't list those units in the documentation. Depending on the reseller, some outlets (Best Buy, B&H) will tell you that it's not compatible. The cable is also considerably thicker, so it doesn't fit into the channels on the back of the TV. Sound about right B?
I think the average consumer won't route the wire into the wall, so that's why samsung decided to do the "invisible" cable gimmick. Is there any truth to the claim that the in-wall 2019 cable works with 2021? Currently users on the amazon listing for the 2019 wire are saying it doesnt work.
@@chinchilla505 A number of people on various sites, including Amazon, indicate that the connector port is identical and the 2019 cable works with the 2020 & 2021 version of the Frame. If you ask Samsung product support reps to verify, you get different responses.
When you mentioned about the height and eye level (one third from the top etc.) you were doing that standing up - would not most people want that height in relation to being seated in their office?
You are the installation Man bro. You really know your Craft and are one of the best installers I've seen. Kudos to you because you make it look so easy. Keep up the good work and the PASS the REMOTE channel with you and FOMO is a fantastic Livestream.
Just getting the delivery of my 75". stupid question. What is the purpose of the toggle bolts if there is no stud behind it? what sizes should i use for 75 inch?
When mounting the Frame on drywall, with studs, etc.. .just like in this video. I took a drywall knife and “scored” a straight, small channel from the bottom of the TV to below the cabinet top. I then pushed the exposed wire into the “channel” I scored in the wall with my drywall knife. I then used drywall mud to cover the channel. Let dry, do a little sanding to make it look smooth, added some texture then painted over it. In another room, I took a piece of 2”wide, masking tape and covered up the wire. I then painted the drywall tape the same color as the wall. It looks good, not great. But, nobody notices that there is a wire taped to the wall.
I am planning on buying a 55 or 65 inch Frame tv, but I need the tv to tilt down. Can this tv use another wall mount, or do I need to use the one included?
I am trying to plan blocking in a wall for the 75 inch unit. Samsung can't tell me the simple dimension between the mounting brackets. The installation manual with the wall bracket does not refer to the frame tv model number. So without buying the unit before my house is built, I can't get a dimension.... any suggestions?
This may help. Depending on your local timber prices. Knowing which wall was going to get the TV, I lined the entire wall, with 3/4 flooring sheets, known as yellow tongue flooring here in Australia. Then glued the drywall over top. The TV, speakers and floating shelves were mounted without needing to find studs. Added bonus is how much sound deadening it gives, keeps the TV noise out of the bedroom side of the house.
Great installation video. I am going to be installing mine soon and have a couple of questions? 1) currently on the wall where my fram will be is an electrical outlet and a coverplate for phone/cable. Will I need to remove these or will the tv still be flush against the wall ? (Ie: will leaving these interfere with a flush mount?). 2) similarily, does the one connect wire need to follow the groove on the back of the tv? My conduit will not line up perfectly so I will have to just run the wire over a bit and not in the grooves. Will this cause the TV to not be flush? Cheers
Love your work! Could I request that you do a comparison of the NVIDIA Shield AI upscaling vs the Apple TV 4k 2017/2021 upscaling for 720p, 1080p, and 4k content? I think that would be an amazing video and some really great content to add to your channel! To take it one step further, you could also compare the ShieldTV and Aptv4k upscaling to the native upscaling of the premier LG and Sony processors. Thanks and keep up the great job you're doing!
It is possible to do it this way but is it right? The barackets on the back of the TV is turned up side down. There are magnets that is puppose to hold the TV to the wall if wanted.
Is it safe to use those toggle bolts for the 55" frame (36lbs)? Would 1/4" ones be better? Also, thank you for the video, very helpful! Clean install and you do a great job filming and explaining as you go through it! The best install video I've seen.
I just got the new 75 inch frame and my studs don't line up with the optimal postions on the new mount. Will toggle bolts in dry wall support the 75 frame?? The toggle bolts I purchased say they can support 64kg (141lbs) and the Australian model comes with a template for the install:)
75 went up without issue using toggle bolts. I've got thr 2020 model as well and I can see why they switched to the new bracket but I still prefer the older
I never use the Samsung os I always use external devices but testing out the wired network and its only 10/100 which is pretty crap, why not include 1 gb card.
Hey B, so I bought a 65” frame and I ran into an issue I was hoping you could help me out. So on the left bracket I’d be able to hit a stud but on the right the stud I would have to use is showing electrical. I can see the outlet is on the left side of the stud, would I still be able to drill into the stud just be careful of the side the electrical is on or should I avoid it all together? Would the single stud be fine and use all flip toggles on the right side? I personal would like to avoid that
It's what I did in this video. Why would yours be different? The electrical is not normally In the Stud but you gotta do what you think. I have literally never hit an electrical wire with my drill on over 10k installs
I was a little worried about the weight of the 65”. One last question, you think I’ll be good with the 3/16”x2-1/2” flip toggles? And I was thinking about doing 2 screws in the studs and 4 flip toggles on each side for extra support, would that be a good idea? Thanks btw, your a life saver 👍🏻
I always mount my tvs on the wall with the wires hidden, to code of course, but in this case, with just that small wire I would consider leaving it exposed.
I tried googling how many one connect cables have caught fire in the wall and I can't find any. If it isn't a rental I would be hiding that cable in the wall. Yeah we know it is not to code but if you run it far away from AC power I think it will be fine!
Yep, check out the other videos. Samsung has this OneConnect box that has the power, hdmi inputs, etc. so that all that stuff and the processing is done in the box and the TV can stay thin. So power and the signal come through that one wire.

Great now my wife wants one on our wall with the fireplace. Not our living room we have a normal tv.. unfortunately its cement blocks behind the shiplap because the other side is the garage.
I also see people installing boxes inside the wall and behind the TV, to hide the one connect box. Wonder is this is something that Samsung would approve
No offense bud, but I would never allow you to work in my house; I'm one of "those" people who would go nuts, with the way you leave the wall looking like a toddler was let loose with a crayon. Yes, it's behind the TV but that doesn't make it go away. You do a great job otherwise and I learned a few things and got some decent tips. Why don't you try using painter's tape to make your marks and then remove all the evidence of your doodles at the end? Personally, that's how I would expect a professional to work in my home.
@@garyradtke3252 Dude, I've been in manufacturing for (probably - judging by your misuse of "your"?) longer than you have been alive!? Fiberglass, steel mills, sand foundries, you name it - I've done it. Yet, despite the messy environments, those products leave the factory in almost flawless condition. I don't see how you can correlate graffiti and hieroglyphics left behind on a client's wall with those types of manufacturing environments(?). I just gave the poster a recommendation: use some painter's tape to do your markings on, and remove it when you're done. Easy peasy!? Why did that put a bee in your bonnet?
isn't it the whole idea behind this tv, so no wires are exposed? Kinda stupid on Samsung's side not to make that cable to better suite in wall installation... oor give a choice in between bulky but protected cable vs thin and unprotected for different types of install. I myself will be installing it inside the wall, inside the Split Loom Tube Polyethylene PE High Temperature cable conduit for cleaner look.
The one wire looks reasonably clean, but as anal as I am I’d probably tear the wall down and re-build it to hide all the wires, lol. Nice instructional video though.

I think a simple single wire conduit attached with adhesive to the wall would make the install a little neater, but I think overall it's great!
I recently bought one of this 55'' and made the installation and unboxing video.

how much of a gap should we expect from the wall? mine seems more than i thought it would 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
Curious if the operating is the same on the Samsung Frame as the QN90A?

The 3/16 are best.. they hold 90% weight the 1/4 inch do and they're much smaller and easier to work with and both are massively overkill for this.
I just got the new 75 inch frame and my studs don't line up with the optimal postions on the new mount. Will toggle bolts in dry wall support the 75 frame??

What can I do to lower my tv. I was mount to high 😭😭
What is your personal TV in your main room ?
2021 Frame Tv or Q60a 75inch?

"I am drilling large holes in the walls... You're renting right?".... BAD IDEA JEANS.
How do I temporarily take it down
I tried googling how many one connect cables have caught fire in the wall and I can't find any. If it isn't a rental I would be hiding that cable in the wall. Yeah we know it is not to code but if you run it far away from AC power I think it will be fine!
Plastic wire covers also an option to cover the wire ....good to see "the boss " working ha ha ha
That one wire powers the tv?
The wire connects to the One Connect box. The one connect box provides power to the tv. The box also allows other connections like HDMI. Etc.
Yep, check out the other videos. Samsung has this OneConnect box that has the power, hdmi inputs, etc. so that all that stuff and the processing is done in the box and the TV can stay thin. So power and the signal come through that one wire.
does the in/wall box with ac outlet meet code (17:03 mark)? th-cam.com/video/6jS07hCpc3Y/w-d-xo.html
So it’s the same as the g1. Meant to be mounted flush to a wall
Have you installed a 2022 Frame yet? Curious if the install is the same.
Can anyone figure why it's a two piece wall bracket? One piece would make hanging it level and accurate much easier.
I've installed many tvs, just not a Frame, and I don't see the point.
For reference, the roatatiing bracket is a one piece.
Great now my wife wants one on our wall with the fireplace. Not our living room we have a normal tv.. unfortunately its cement blocks behind the shiplap because the other side is the garage.
I would probably just put the wire in the wall. It looks cleaner. Even though it's just one small wire, it's still annoying to see it.
Technically you're not actually supposed to hide the wire it actually voids the warranty
It's not that bulky of a cable, it looks just fine outside of the wall, that's what I would do.
Only the installation? I want to see a little about it. As far as the wire goes, just put a panted strip over it
I also see people installing boxes inside the wall and behind the TV, to hide the one connect box. Wonder is this is something that Samsung would approve
th-cam.com/video/DeoffpuS8Pk/w-d-xo.html
I would install with the wire exposed, due to wire being so thin.
One easy hack is cover the cable with masking tape then paint it using the same color as your wall
I can’t stop my eyes from constantly looking at the exposed cord. Maybe it’s because I know it’s there. I’d hide it in the wall.
Small wire is not a big issue, so no would not try to hide it.
The 1 wire is in fact, very noticeable 🤣🤣🤣
No offense bud, but I would never allow you to work in my house; I'm one of "those" people who would go nuts, with the way you leave the wall looking like a toddler was let loose with a crayon. Yes, it's behind the TV but that doesn't make it go away.
You do a great job otherwise and I learned a few things and got some decent tips. Why don't you try using painter's tape to make your marks and then remove all the evidence of your doodles at the end? Personally, that's how I would expect a professional to work in my home.
Good thing your not around for manufacturing of boats or anything else.
Hide in wall
Europe. Brick walls. Cable exposed 😄
You monster! You used a stud finder without using it on yourself first!!
You are literally 3hrs late with this tutorial. Lol
Did you but that hat just for this video?
where is she?
...
oh
yes)))
Hide the cord
This is poor quality content. It's silly to try and do this without a laser level. They are cheap to buy and make this work A LOT easier.
… it that wire though. 🤦♂️
