The prophecy says Voldemort must mark him as his equal. By acknowledging a family and their child harry was marked. It would take him marking Neville somehow at some point in his life. The only way I could see that happening is if his plan was to go to the longbottom house after the potters or Neville grew up to be as powerful as Dumbledore or something.

I agree, the whole reason the Prophesy came to fruition was because the prophesy was made with the key individuals being present, and that was Snape and Dumbledore, if only one of them was present, then the night on Halloween 1981 never happens.

true, but funnily enough it was a part of the Prophecy he didn't hear (the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal) which set it in motion. Voldemort didn't hear this part, and yet he was the one who got the Prophecy running, as by attempting to kill Harry he marked Harry as his equal (aka "The Chosen One").

If the Order knew who Voldermort really was, Tom Riddle, there would still be hope, even if the infant Harry Potter had died in Godric's Hollow with his parents. If the name of Tom Riddle emerged, Slughorn would have no doubt come forward to give any information he could have, knowing that he lost one of his favourite pupils and her son to the monster that Riddle had become, and no doubt would have spurred the Order into a new direction - finding the Horcruxes and destroying them. Whilst finding them would be harder, since they were all concealed in low places, he would only have five, and word would quickly spread that the search was on. It would almost seem that Harry Potter living and Voldemort going into hiding only prolonged the conflict.

I love watching these videos and seeing your subscribers just keep increasing! I’ve been a long time subscriber and I’m happy to see that so many others have found you. In terms of the universe, I completely agree with the balance of good and evil. I believe living in the Wizarding World with Voldemort at the helm would have made the people that opposed his views live in dire conditions. But I also believe that the strongest and most poignant way to live during this time would be to rebel against his way of life, his code. Such as the Weasleys did when they still went ahead with Bill and Fleur’s wedding. Something as simple but dangerous as celebrating love in a time torn by hate will always give way to fortitude and strength and the power to keep fighting to protect loved ones. You can either stand up to injustice or run from it. Thank goodness that there will always be people that take the mantle to oppose oppression.

But Voldemort chose the half-blood over the pure-blood and Dumbledore pointed that out. Whether Voldemort was making the choice of Harry over Neville because of blood status, we don't know.

I could totally have seen this being the case if the prophecy had been worded differently, but because of how it was worded and the fact that Voldemort didn't actually hear the whole thing is why his killing curse against Harry didn't work in the first place. Great job! One thing however I have to disagree with. Voldemort was in a muggle orphanage until Dumbledore went to pick him up to attend Hogwarts. I think his long memory of his time in the muggle world and his muggle family would push him to take over as much of the muggle world as possible.

If Voldemort had killed in infant Harry, then the Longbottom's would've been his next victims. Both Harry and Neville matched the profile of the prophecy but he chose to go after Harry first since both Harry and Voldemort are half-bloods whereas Neville is a pure-blood.
Hey dude. Here is my opinion about your statement: the world needs a balance of both good and evil. What we consider as good or evil, always varies based on our environment and experiences. For example, not that long ago, there was a time when hating on black people and even killing them, was perfectly normal and acceptable, as the majority agreed with it. Nowadays, the majority are against it. I will admit, seeing evil can help educate us why good is so valuable and important. The problem is the individual and others this could affect so negatively. Here is another example. I heard drugs are bad for us, but I didn’t fully understand it. However, when I saw people take drugs and what it does to them, it helped me understand much better, and why I should avoid taking them. But a massive problem with this idea also, let’s say with the story of Voldemort, even if he was the darkest wizard ever, it might make people in the future feel the world is now safe and they won’t ever meet someone bad anymore. And this is a false hype. Even if you don’t meet someone as evil as Voldemort, does not mean you shouldn’t be careful about anyone evil you might come across in the future.

Did it go from good, evil, back to good in terms of killing people? No. It was always evil even though it was the norm. It was a time ruled by evil rather than good. Going back to your argument, even when black people were hated by most, there were many that didn’t hate them. The minority was good, and the majority was evil. I don’t fully relate do your second argument for a few reasons. First, what’s evil? The drug, the user, or just the act of using? I don’t believe an object can be evil and I don’t believe people are inherently good or evil. When it comes to the act of using, I guess it depends on what someone is using. There’s a different between a pot head or does mushrooms and mdma from time to time and someone who’s using meth, crack, Coke, or heroin. Even with the latter, most people who are addicted don’t want to be. They are in constant battle with the substance. They either win, lose and go to prison, or lose and die. But every drug I mentioned is used in someway. In some western countries, heroin is still used in surgery. Coke is used to numb kids during operations. MDMA is being tested for ptsd therapy and mushrooms for depression. Meth is just a stimulant and how many kids take adderal. I guess my point is: good and evil are constants, even if we don’t understand how, why, or what they are at a given time.
What if James survived because he had his invisibility cloak and went out (either to visit Sirius or just a walk) and Harry was still the BWL through Lily's sacrifice. Would Harry be raised by the 3 Marauders? Would James tell Dumbledore to go fly kites if he tried to send Harry to the Dursleys? How would he react to Harry almost dying each year? No, his main target was Harry. If he went to the house and found Lily and Harry, he would have given Lily three chances to step aside. So her blood protection would have vanquished him like in canon while she died and Harry survived with a scar. He couldn't go looking for James if he was already vanquished by Lily's protection for Harry.

I was watching goblet of fire again last night when i noticed something. After harry faces voldemort in the graveyeard, he says he can't remember anything other than facing voldemort and cedric being killed by him. He conveniently forgets that lucius malfoy of all people was a bloody death eater. He gets away with it for a whole film too, even stares at harry when he goes to his hearing in the order of the phoenix. Of course it doesn't matter now but that's just something i noticed.

If the name of Tom Riddle emerged, Slughorn would have no doubt come forward to give any information he could have, knowing that he lost one of his favourite pupils and her son to the monster that Riddle had become, and no doubt would have spurred the Order into a new direction - finding the Horcruxes and destroying them. Whilst finding them would be harder, since they were all concealed in low places, he would only have five, and word would quickly spread that the search was on. It would almost seem that Harry Potter living and Voldemort going into hiding only prolonged the conflict.

In terms of the universe, I completely agree with the balance of good and evil. I believe living in the Wizarding World with Voldemort at the helm would have made the people that opposed his views live in dire conditions.
But I also believe that the strongest and most poignant way to live during this time would be to rebel against his way of life, his code. Such as the Weasleys did when they still went ahead with Bill and Fleur’s wedding. Something as simple but dangerous as celebrating love in a time torn by hate will always give way to fortitude and strength and the power to keep fighting to protect loved ones. You can either stand up to injustice or run from it. Thank goodness that there will always be people that take the mantle to oppose oppression.
Imagine a muggle born returning to his world for the summer holidays, and then finds out that platform 9 quarters and the diagon alley is closed forever, Then he can freely use his magic without worrying.

But seriously, have we forgotten about Neville Longbottom, who was just as likely to have been the child of the prophecy, and how Voldemort's actions MADE Harry the chosen one by accident? That leaves the possibility that, if Harry had died, that a radically different course of events could have placed Neville in Voldemort's way, and the war resolved very differently.

But Voldemort chose the half-blood over the pure-blood and Dumbledore pointed that out. Whether Voldemort was making the choice of Harry over Neville because of blood status, we don't know.

I could totally have seen this being the case if the prophecy had been worded differently, but because of how it was worded and the fact that Voldemort didn't actually hear the whole thing is why his killing curse against Harry didn't work in the first place. Great job! One thing however I have to disagree with. Voldemort was in a muggle orphanage until Dumbledore went to pick him up to attend Hogwarts. I think his long memory of his time in the muggle world and his muggle family would push him to take over as much of the muggle world as possible.

Well it is not impossible for a muggleborn to be sorted into slytherin, just rare.
If Voldemort had killed in infant Harry, then the Longbottom's would've been his next victims. Both Harry and Neville matched the profile of the prophecy but he chose to go after Harry first since both Harry and Voldemort are half-bloods whereas Neville is a pure-blood.

Hey dude. Here is my opinion about your statement: the world needs a balance of both good and evil.
What we consider as good or evil, always varies based on our environment and experiences.
For example, not that long ago, there was a time when hating on black people and even killing them, was perfectly normal and acceptable, as the majority agreed with it. Nowadays, the majority are against it.
I will admit, seeing evil can help educate us why good is so valuable and important. The problem is the individual and others this could affect so negatively.
Here is another example. I heard drugs are bad for us, but I didn’t fully understand it. However, when I saw people take drugs and what it does to them, it helped me understand much better, and why I should avoid taking them.
But a massive problem with this idea also, let’s say with the story of Voldemort, even if he was the darkest wizard ever, it might make people in the future feel the world is now safe and they won’t ever meet someone bad anymore.
And this is a false hype. Even if you don’t meet someone as evil as Voldemort, does not mean you shouldn’t be careful about anyone evil you might come across in the future.

Looking at your first argument about racism. We can actually apply this directly to the hp theory. Before V took charge, killing muggles was evil. Now let’s say he reigns for 500 year and all muggle born are killed. Then he is defeated, and once again muggle born s are taught magic. Did it go from good, evil, back to good in terms of killing people? No. It was always evil even though it was the norm. It was a time ruled by evil rather than good. Going back to your argument, even when black people were hated by most, there were many that didn’t hate them. The minority was good, and the majority was evil.
I don’t fully relate do your second argument for a few reasons. First, what’s evil? The drug, the user, or just the act of using? I don’t believe an object can be evil and I don’t believe people are inherently good or evil. When it comes to the act of using, I guess it depends on what someone is using. There’s a different between a pot head or does mushrooms and mdma from time to time and someone who’s using meth, crack, Coke, or heroin. Even with the latter, most people who are addicted don’t want to be. They are in constant battle with the substance. They either win, lose and go to prison, or lose and die. But every drug I mentioned is used in someway. In some western countries, heroin is still used in surgery. Coke is used to numb kids during operations. MDMA is being tested for ptsd therapy and mushrooms for depression. Meth is just a stimulant and how many kids take adderal.
I guess my point is: good and evil are constants, even if we don’t understand how, why, or what they are at a given time.

What if James survived because he had his invisibility cloak and went out (either to visit Sirius or just a walk) and Harry was still the BWL through Lily's sacrifice. Would Harry be raised by the 3 Marauders? Would James tell Dumbledore to go fly kites if he tried to send Harry to the Dursleys? How would he react to Harry almost dying each year?

No, his main target was Harry. If he went to the house and found Lily and Harry, he would have given Lily three chances to step aside. So her blood protection would have vanquished him like in canon while she died and Harry survived with a scar. He couldn't go looking for James if he was already vanquished by Lily's protection for Harry.

I was watching goblet of fire again last night when i noticed something. After harry faces voldemort in the graveyeard, he says he can't remember anything other than facing voldemort and cedric being killed by him. He conveniently forgets that lucius malfoy of all people was a bloody death eater. He gets away with it for a whole film too, even stares at harry when he goes to his hearing in the order of the phoenix. Of course it doesn't matter now but that's just something i noticed.
