    Couple of suggestions, even if some of these might be stretching the definition a little bit.
    Lakeview Cabin Collection - Bit more of a puzzle horror game, but it'd probably make a fun video.
    Cila's Art Games - Yuki Onna, Aka Manto, Hanako etc. Ps1 style survival horror inspired by Japanese urban legends
    Dreadout - Its basically just Indonesian Fatal Frame and its a lot of fun, especially keepers of the dark.
    Found Horror Game 11 - Super unfinished, super jank, but its an anthology game with a lot of interesting ideas.
    Strange Man Series - Crooked Man, Sandman, Boogieman, Hanged man, A series of really fun RPG Maker horror games. Even though they lean more into the puzzle aspect.
    Witch Hunt - Eurojank hunting game where you hunt down supernatural creatures in a weird village.
    Pathologic 1 or 2- Bit of a stretch, but an intriguing series of games where you're the outsider in a town that's slowly going insane.
    Penumbra Overture/Black Plague- The original series from the creators of Amnesia the Dark Descent.
    Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion - A really good mix of cute and creepy with some genuinely good horror aspects.

    I find it interesting that you refer to not having a weapon as:

    • @DEMillerEarl
      @DEMillerEarl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      Mine, (not in that guys group lol) is that the game giving you a weapon early/ having weapons means you can fight back, no matter how the game tries to make you use it this gives me a sense of ability to fight, rather than flee or freeze. Might be psychological, voluntary confrontation vs not

    • @highoverseer9323
      @highoverseer9323 2 ปีที่แล้ว +101

      I would say it's heavily affected by context, on one hand not having a weapon means you can't defend yourself, on the other hand finding a weapon means that you "will" have to defend yourself and that can be terrifying as it implies there's a threat nearby.

    • @shazbot_hc

    • @THISISAGUN3

      Having no weapon in a horror game is definitely scarier, as in most cases it means the game is going to be a hide and seek simulator so there is real fear of me dying of boredom.

    Honestly, this game wasn't even that bad from a design standpoint, it's clearly amateur work, and with that in mind it's actually quite impressive compared to the kind of trash you usually see, like the games that are just "shoot all the enemies" as the only objective and use stock unity assets, but this one has cutscenes, objectives, puzzles, an inventory with item economy (healing, ammo, etc), and tons of references to classic survival horror influences, so it's clearly a labour of love and I can respect that

    5:35 are you talking about Goya's painting "Saturn Devouring His Son" when you say "the most disturbing shit that no one has ever hung on their wall"? Funny thing about that... Goya was unmedicated and deeply in need of mental health care at the end of his life. At the age of 72, he bought a house outside Madrid, became a recluse, and painted 14 wall-sized murals, all unnamed, directly on the walls of his house. These, including SDHS, were private, likely never meant to be seen publicly, and are also likely revealing to his state of mind in the last few years of his life. So, yeah... "the most disturbing shit that [Goya painted directly on the walls of his] house". It's intimidating to see in person, something like 140x80cm (55x30") and way too detailed...

    You should check out the first Dino Crisis! I would love to see what you think of it, since the first game is incredible. Second isn’t bad, though it takes a complete 180 to the formula… and then of course we just don’t talk about the third.

    24:51 The rabbit does not have 1 hp, it takes 3 magnum shots to put it down, and it's hitbox is tiny, and it's very fast.
    It's definitely a meme enemy, but its not a pushover, its probably one of the hardest bosses in the game. Honestly, i wish that i would have just tossed one of my holy waters at it, didnt realize that it would oneshot it. Though since i didn't, I got to delete the final boss in about 2 seconds with 3 vials of holy water, lol.

    If you ever do a collage of smaller short spooky games, you gotta include "Perfect Vermin". It's not survival, but its pretty freaky and has a cool very cool atmosphere. It's available on steam with 94% positive reviews.

    You mean Saturn eating HIS SON?
    Love that painting(s, there’s 2 famous ones), but it’s overused in so many horror games.

    Ok, I kinda unironically love all the nods and sht in this game.
    Amnesia wall meat, James Sunderland with a fkin pipe, the killer bunny from Monthy Pyhton's Holly Grail, the dickwits in bathrobes from Blood
    Also, the youtube is confused- it thinks it was Amnesia the Dark Descent

    This was great!
    My suggestion for a Survival Horror game that you haven't played would be Siren, the original PS2 release, not 'Blood Curse', they are completely different games despite BC being called a remake. It's directed by the director of the original Silent Hill, and is one of the most rewarding gaming experiences I've ever had, in any genre. It requires a lot of patience up front because it plays so unlike anything else, and is truly challenging, but I promise that patience is rewarded in the long run. I would recommend using a spoiler-free walkthrough specifically and solely to be aware of the things you will need to do in certain levels in order to unlock alternate routes and complete the entire story and timeline, because playing it 100% is intended, and vital to understanding the game, and some of the puzzle elements are just way too easy to overlook completely without knowing about them, even though there aren't that many of these kinds of actions total and they aren't really part of the normal gameplay... it's just really a pain if you miss one and don't even realize it and then end up stuck way later with no clue where to even look. Otherwise though it's best if you know as little as possible about it and figure out how to play best yourself; it has a very Dark Souls-like difficulty curve where it feels insane at first, but all it takes is some patience and experimentation and accumulating knowledge, and everything falls into place mentally. If you appreciate the genre as much as you seem to, I would think you would enjoy it a great deal. It's really a singular masterpiece, and also quite a personal accomplishment to see it through to the end. It does a better job of making the player feel weak and powerless and genuinely afraid than any other horror game I've played, giving you a variety of characters to use most of whom are normal useless people without any kind of weapon.... one of the characters is even a little girl... her levels got to me in a really visceral way. Again, few games ever have felt as rewarding to play through as Siren did for me. I think it should be played by everyone who loves survival horror, it's just as essential as any other game.
    tldr; SIREN, PS2 version!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
