Forgetting cooking stuff is pretty normal for everybody who leaves the kitchen. There is a physiological change in memory states when passing through a doorway. The brain treats it like a scene change so everything in working memory tends to drop. For spectrum disorders especially this is majority not minority behavior.
also lifehack: walk back through a doorway when you forget what you entered a room for.

That is interesting! We have a lot of strategies to avoid burning food in current times but our memory still sucks. It’s part of being DID but is really very annoying. We literally will forget entire conversations and events. Our kids will tell us things we have apparently said and it’s like it’s all new to us.
