Hi Friends! I have not finalized my decision about a power station so if you have testimonials about your own power stations to share please feel free to sound off below!
Hi Claire always so nice to watch you and Parker camping in the car. Always adventurous. And always so cozy looking in the car. You're always enjoyable to watch you have a wonderful personality keep up the good work by friend God bless you always Dennis

Hi Claire and Parker, I think a rooftop box is a great idea, I don't think people would even know it's a car camper, I've been using a Jackery 880 with a jackery 100 watt solar panel for over a year with no issues so far, I mostly charge it at home and when I'm at the lake or out hunting I use the solar panel to keep it charged up. Awesome video I am glad to see you guys are doing well. Stay safe out there, ❤ y'all.
@@ClairenParkerontheRoad your welcome Claire. Jackery's are super easy to use, and customer service was awesome, I bought mine from Amazon it came as a set, the 880 unit and folding solar panel but it was missing the wall charger, I called Jackery customer service and told them what was missing and they sent a new one free. 10/10 all around.
I'm almost 43, and I remember when people started using cargo tops, it totally makes me think of snowboarding or skiing. That's my generation! 90s Lol, but im a Washington native.... land of the socks and burkinstocks coffee ☕️ people! I enjoy all your videos! ❤
We have a Bluetti and love it, but we only use it for our patio festoon lights because we don't have power that far down the garden. I don't know how it would work for someone who has more power demands.
Great video Claire! The main thing with the power station is to avoid old technology like that used in the Jackery. Go with Ecowflow, Bluetti, or All Powers. As far as the cargo box, I would not worry about the stealth factor and go for it!
I don't think a cargo box will blow your cover. I've seen small cars with cargo boxes. Go for it. I have one on Ford Excursion that I do part time van life in. Enjoy your journey. Cheyenne. Part time van lifer and professional commercial truck driver.
Everybody is different, but for your vehicle I think the car top storage would be useful for items like a lawn chair, table, dirty clothes, 5 gallon bucket, cookware, fishing poles, etc. What would you use it for? My Bluetti AC70 rated at 1000w power and 768 watt capacity easily runs my Dometic 55IM cooler fridge and NUWAVE (600/900/1500w) induction cooktop at the same time. I keep the induction cooktop setting at 900watts which works perfectly for me and still allows me to cook at temperatures up to 375 degrees. If I am using my power station only for the fridge it will last about 3 days before draining the AC70. If you need a power station greater than 1000 watts after all items are plugged into it I'd step up to the Bluetti AC180, which is a 1800 watt power station, that's like having the same capability of your household AC plug socket. The Bluetti AC70 uses LifePO4 technology that last much longer and charge much faster than older lithium technology power stations (most Jackery power stations). For example the Bluetti AC 70 can take a charge over 900 watts per hour input, which is very significant. That takes a completely dead AC 70 to full in about 65 minutes IF it is plugged into a household outlet. If you plug the AC70 into 12V cigarette lighter outlet it will take about 9 hours. Lots of cars, SUVs and trucks now have AC outlets in them that can deliver 400 watts per hour. So you basically can recharge the AC 70 in about 2 1/2 hours with 400 watts. For about another 50 bucks you could buy a 400w inverter to make life pretty sweet with no need for solar panels. The dimensions for the Bluetti AC70 is 12.4" × 8.2" × 10.1", but you will need to make sure you factor in another couple inches for ventilation. I'm sure that you will find things in your car that you could throw up in the car top storage so you can make room for a power station and fridge. If you buy a fridge too make sure that you add a couple inches over the product dimensions to allow for ventilation. BTW, the audio levels of this video are terrible. I had to constantly turn the TV volume higher and lower throughout the video.
Great thoughts, especially about the Bluetti, thank you. I would love to upgrade software and filming equipment when I'm able. Thanks for the feedback.
I've had many power stations. And I hate to say it, because I've worked with them several times. But I'm not a fan of AllPowers, I'll just keep it at that. They're cheap though! Well, cheap-er. Bluetti is good! But spendy. And Big Blue is probably the worst. They sent me one that didn't even work. Then another that ended up not working. Pffffff. Good luck!
I wouldn't worry about a rooftop cargo box blowing your cover, they're pretty common nowadays. I see cargo boxes all the time and don't give them a second thought. I'll be getting one too soon.
Thank you for another wonderful video. I have an inverter from Walmart. It clips onto your car battery. So if you are in the middle of nowhere and it’s cloudy. You can still charge your battery pack. Mine is a Jackery 1000, with 2 hundred watts solar panels. It’s been everything I needed.
A cargo box in no way compromises you as a car camper. I just helped my brother get his on their car for the upcoming road trip (we're driving separately to South Dakota). A cargo box means you are traveling or just travelled. I see them a fair amount (especially at this time of year), but it doesn't have any other connotation...except for me thinking that person has an awesome life and gets to do cool things! Just make sure you have one easy to lock. I'm still uncomfortable with the stove in the car thing, but you are really responsible and great about it. I guess I don't think I'd do so well or something. Beating inflation is a tough thing, it's always a moving target. I guess it's less about squeezing the penny sometimes, and more about the time-to-value ratio of the thing you're doing. I don't quite know how to explain it, I'd need some time to gel this thinking a little. As a Gen X guy, I'm just sorting being fiscally reasonable out myself! ;) But I finally get the first road trip in this year! I leave Saturday- and I am so happy I got to see one new Claire video before I do! I'm looking forward to your next one. Thank You for being you!
Tip for inflation: Never pay rent. I understand why people do. But it's a sham, paying so much to not gain any equity whatsoever. Tough with a cute little dog though that looks just like my buddy Jacks dog. Cause the little ooja boo boo can't be in car all day by himself. Tough call.

Thanks for your kind words Dennis! Parker and I appreciate it!
We love camping out at Walmart but those cleaning trucks can be ROUGH. We love our Bluetti.
I know right?! Bluetti seems like a great product.

Yes to the box too, because people who camp all night will single out your car anyways weather you have the box or not

I’ve had a Jackery for a few years and it works great for me.
You will need to get rails on your car.
Every other car seems to have a cargo box.
It does seem like I see a lot of them on cars. Jackery seems very popular!
@@ClairenParkerontheRoad I think Jackery was the first one to pursue van lifers for promotion. It’s fine for my use, not fulltime.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks Gabe!
