I am so glad I did my research before buying a four knife set for $267 USD. My brother is really into cooking and he only has some cheap cooking knives, so for Christmas I wanted to buy him a really nice set. Buy Chinese knives where Chinese people buy Chinese knives. I went to a Chinese butcher store 20+ years ago in Montréal Canada I bought a 9 in butcher knife and and large cleaver with a honing Steel. This is the only butcherknife I have ever owned in these years and it's the only one I use daily. You can hardly tell the difference between the original Edge close to the handle and the rest of the blade it's almost the exact same original grind. It's still very sharp, only honed for 20 years, still sharp. Full tang, solid brass handle inlaid with solid steel.

I have friends who own a couple of Asian restaurants. They have been using the same cheap Chinese vegetable cleavers that you can get at an Asian market for under $20USD for years. They cut loads of vegetables and significant pounds of meat (50-100# of chicken at a time) and those cleavers hold an edge and are easy to sharpen. The Chinese know how to make a decent cleaver. Cold Steel and Victorinox make great kitchen knives at half the price of these IG brands. Bought a Cold Steel chef knife for my wife to use because she doesn't want to use my custom in Aeb-l at 63 and ground to 0.008(she's a bit rough with knives and broke a tip of a custom paring knife I had) and she loves it. I bought a Chinese meat cleaver in a Chinese supermarket. It was incredibly cheap so I gave it a try. It looked good and was big and heavy. Unfortunately I wrecked it hammering it through bone.
I picked up bone from same factory via Ali Express for a laugh. The big 'Serbian' style cleaver. Quite happy with it apart from the paint but then I use it for hammering crap out of things (bone) and for baking. I paid under $20 though

Coolina does the same marketing all cheap product manufacturers use. Inflate the MSRP, be vague on the materials, and use influencers who either get paid for the good review or have no clue about the product. These things are always never worth the price you pay for them.
I definitely ordered a buy 2 get 2 free from them just a few hours ago 😫. Excited but less after watching this. But hey 4 knifes for $200 bucks can’t complain.
When you started joking about the horse in the factory I had to spit out my coffee I was just drinking, so much I had to laugh. 😂 But one thing I would like to mention: as far as I know the Victorinox (which is a great knife I can confirm) is not being sold as a Cleaver. It's sold as a chinese style vegetable/pairing knife. So you should not use it for cutting bones or any other hard kitchen work. It might work but it's not supposed for this kind of work I think.
My victornox cleaver is strictly for processing occasional wild game. My Henkel cleaver I use as a veggie cleaver. Victornox doesn’t cut Brussels sprouts as well as other large, heavy knives. Still wouldn’t part with it, as useful as an ulu. It’s a great pizza knife!
I ended up recieving a coolina or huusk like knife for christmas from a coworker who knows i like knives. I think its cool but i would never buy one of those myself. There are way better knives for the money like pete is saying here
My mom got me one of those Cooking Guild “Bushcraft Cleavers” for my birthday. Its not good but its not completely shit. The blade is straight, it came pretty sharp, its convex ground which makes sense for a “bushcraft” knife I guess but its a little weird overall. I would have never bought it but its decent enough.
Being a regular at a certain Australian supermarket, maybe you should grab a 'Masterchef' knife and test it. I picked up the cleaver for free but have yet to use it. I've been busy with puppies. Oh. You already picked up a Masterchef? My feed must be buggered. I usually don't miss a video.
Are you cool with that oxidation/grit/oil on the blade getting into your food? Because you didn’t wash it off. (Hint: I tried to wash it off, but it’s very difficult, and it doesn’t come off, and it gets on you and your food if you use it).
I knew it!!! Lol these pop up on FB and Instagram all the time in my feed. My brother “gifted” me a HUUSK last year when he fell victim to their marketing and bought 2 for BOGO. I keep it in a display case for laughs 😂 hopefully he won’t buy one of these too.

1st! I recently bought a Chuka bocho (Japanese made Chinese style clever that is thin for vegetables). So I'm interested....not so much in the husk, that thing was chit
But one thing I would like to mention: as far as I know the Victorinox (which is a great knife I can confirm) is not being sold as a Cleaver. It's sold as a chinese style vegetable/pairing knife. So you should not use it for cutting bones or any other hard kitchen work. It might work but it's not supposed for this kind of work I think.
All I can say is THANK YOU !!
There are way better knives for the money like pete is saying here
lmfao na not the freaking stompping horse hahaha that was hilarious. love the video mate wish i watched this after i just spent $400
yass, a jolly good binning there.
G'day Pete, yeah wouldn't be happy with that mate, especially for the dough.
It definitely deserved "the rubbish bin of shame".
Cheers Duke.
What's funny is that for $30 USD you can get a good chinese carbon steel cleaver, and for $100 a stainless or carbon CCK.
I have had knives for years, much cheaper still don't rust, the Coolina rusted on the 2d day.
However, it does look majestic flipping through the air after being struck by the bin. ☺️
and maybe it was bent back after that, but we will never know
Btw, that’s a slicer, not a chopper or cleaver. Their chopper has a 9.5mm spine and cleaver 11mm
Honest review thank you
Being a regular at a certain Australian supermarket, maybe you should grab a 'Masterchef' knife and test it. I picked up the cleaver for free but have yet to use it. I've been busy with puppies. Oh. You already picked up a Masterchef? My feed must be buggered. I usually don't miss a video.
I had failed abs prints with less warpage
Great review brotherman...
Are you cool with that oxidation/grit/oil on the blade getting into your food? Because you didn’t wash it off. (Hint: I tried to wash it off, but it’s very difficult, and it doesn’t come off, and it gets on you and your food if you use it).
Holy shit I had to lookup the smoking meats video after watching this. I was not disappointed.
Thanks, mate. :D
Just that fat bear selling them on every commercial on youtube tells you everything you need to know.
