    Oh no! I ACCIDENTALLY got "fat free" half and half! I will NOT be using that...I will pick up REAL half and half and use that when I actually make these meals in the crockpot!

    I'm catching up on your FIVE years of awesome videos!!! I love this type of budget meal format, and it's always fascinating to see what each YT in this genre chooses as their protein base for their budget meals. I just can't do ground turkey (although I love cooked turkey breast revamped into other dishes, so go figure), it seems very much worth the extra $1-$1.5./lb for the beef. But I get it when you're trying to stay within a certain dollar-amount budget. Love, love, love your channel and your adorbs self and fam!!! Thanks for all your efforts on this channel, and sharing your family's life and terrific kitchen tips with us!

I’ve only ever seen freezer meals like this stored in ziploc bags, but I’m curious about using the plastic containers instead as a way to avoid the extra plastic bag waste. Very clever using the old ice cream containers for this purpose!

    • @SeeMindyMom
      @SeeMindyMom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Jamie, cats go where they please, and they can’t be “trained”. My dad was a vet for 50 years and he was never concerned about our cat making anything unsanitary including tables and counters. We always remove her when we catch her, but you can’t keep a cat from jumping. Also, my countertops get wiped down with disinfectant multiple times a day. 🤷‍♀️

    • @mlast6145
      @mlast6145 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SeeMindyMom Actually, you can train some cats! Both my boys will sit on command when it is time for their wet food. Loki will also high five and go "up" and "down" (You point/tap to a surface and say "Loki up!" and he will hop up and vice versa.) They are both highly food motivated. Our girl however. Ha! She'll just look at you like you are a *complete* idiot.
      Our older two felines were already good about not getting on the kitchen counter, dining room table and coffee table. My newest little demon took some convincing, but he no longer jumps on the kitchen counter. He has two spaces he can watch me from (our chest freezer, which has a towel on top just for him) or the cat tree just outside the kitchen (open floor plan). He had to have animal poison control called not once, but twice on him before he was one. And considering he is in reality a hoover in a fur suit, we wanted to make sure he stayed off *just* these three surfaces, as they are the ones most likely to contain food and/or drink (and he would help himself to pretty much anything and *everything* if given half a chance). He is now very good about not jumping on the kitchen counters, but he still occasionally protests the tables. XD Which is fine, as along as he does it when we don't have any food or drink on it! I do not want to have to speak with animal poison control again if I can avoid it.
      The problem for me wasn't, do I care that he is on the counter - it was - What will he manage to eat, like, say something really hot in a pan when I look away for two seconds or something the housemate left sitting out, what if he steps on a hot burner or scalds himself by knocking over something hot, and what if he knocks things off the counter and him and the other kitties injure themselves on the shards? Ollie seems quite polite, compared to our ravenous (yet fully fed) little beast. I love him dearly, but I wanted to make sure he stayed off the kitchen counter at the minimum for my sanities sake. You can't train kitties like they are dogs and you have to work within their natures, personalities and boundaries, but there *is* some wiggle room with a little time, patience and love. ^.^
      Personally, I think Ollie is adorable and I found it hilarious to watch her munch on her hard earned spoils in the background! Especially considering she is so delicate about it and much less vacuum like than my troublemaker. =0P
