because gamers are so delusional and thirsty for content that when any game is worked on or brought to a playable level they forget and forgive. welcome to the new generation where unfinished games are the norm
@@georgiadog0077 Oh ok, so they don't remain bitter and locked in the past, capable of enjoying new content? Sounds like a much happier existence. I think I'll keep enjoying the free updates and see what it ends up becoming before I call it unfinished. Hopefully you can find a finished game outside the norm that makes you happy too.
@@georgiadog0077 Gamers are indeed delusional and thirsty for content. That's what let publishers releasing games as early as possible with as much hype and as many pre-sales as possible. This results impossible deadlines for developers and unfinished games forced onto the market, because - you know - the executives want to maximize their yearly bonus. So next time when a release is delayed don't start whinning, don't let publisher's marketing push you into a hype wortex and don't buy any game before release. And if the developers fixes bugs or any mistakes after release at least try to handle it with less toxicity.
I think this is the ONLY game that released utterly incomplete and broken(RIP Anthem), only to have dedicated Devs that stuck through, delivered, and then over-delivered with additional free content. I don't even play this game anymore as my job has taken over my life, but if they released Paid-for DLC, I'd buy it just to support the team. They're seriously the best. The ONLY company that gets a pass for the early release BS. They more than redeemed themselves.
Oh man, you are so wrong, most games nowadays launch incomplete and broken, because many game studios are under huge pressure to hit a release date set by their publisher, No Mans' Sky was no different at launch, Sony wanted their money back.
I have hella respect for this small team. They never gave up. I was so excited when this was announced, and even though it was disappointing at launch, I will back them 10000%
This HAS to be one of the greatest comeback stories in gaming history. Because this game, at FIRST, was NOT what they promised us at ALL. But - that cannot be said in 2023. This game is SICK now and is everything I'd imagined it would be 7 years ago.
Yep buy it it has 1. NO MICROTRANSACTIONS 2. Free Updates everytime 3. Devs are always listening 4. You can explore and more exploration 5. Amazing community 6. It has crossplay [pc, xbox, ps] 7. You can get rich easily 8. Mods, glitch building is a okay 9. Relaxing game 10. You can turn off and on multiplayer I can go on

I put 100 hours into this game into the last 2 weeks, and I haven't even finished the main story yet... It's quite an addicting, immersive, beautiful and relaxing experience.
@@sammcallister1423 my gripe about it was it wasn’t hard at all there was almost no threat of dying unless you went afk. Thankfully they’ve added a bit more combat oriented stuff to do.
Starting playing recently and love it! My "it's this but this" take is: - It's the space exploration and fleet mechanics from Elite Dangerous but much simpler and less laborious, trading realism for fun. - It's the base building from Fallout 4 but with more beautiful and varied vistas. - It's the space-race lore of Mass Effect but less detailed. - It's the resource gathering and crafting systems of Minecraft but trades blocks and tables for elements and technology! Overall an epic combo of features, if you enjoyed any of the above games then check it out!
@@fandangobrandango7864 Elite is more of a space sim, NMS is like a space sanbox moreso minecraft in space. NMS is great tho but i hope they add so more realism opitions later on like ship entrance and exit animations, i hate that damn blue warp.
On top of the endless love the devs continue to put into the game, the community is one of the best I've ever encountered. People are great about welcoming new players and generally not being dicks to them.
I was disappointed at launch and returned many years later to find myself enchanted by what its become finding my solar system I discovered in and around 7 years ago had still not been explored which is probably the hilarious bit about how large this game actually is 😂
I played this game about a year and half ago and ended up getting the big cruiser ship and building an underwater base on a very volatile planet that kept me safe while I mined valuable resources between storms this game is underrated in its current state
Got this on a steam sale recently and I've been playing it on my quest 2 in VR. First time I blasted off from my starting planet and went into hyperspace was a real WOW moment.
Actually, the game lore is fascinating and deep. Like any good and ancient mystery, you have to explore and build on it, putting intriguing clues together. It doesn’t lead you by the nose. After getting started you can choose your goals and styles when and as you want. It’s incredible and ever evolving. Hello Games has continued to put out updates and enhancements FOR FREE since its original launch. The VR play is amazing. It’s clear to me that you are not a long time player, especially of more recent updates, so you have a lot to enjoy discovering. The NMS player community is vast, active, creative, helpful, and a major asset of the game.
I play it mostly FOR the lore. The lore is one of the most under appreciated aspects of the game and it was just built upon even more with the new Interceptor update.
@@thecodenamenoob4042 : there have been many, many additions and changes you will want to know about. I recommend visiting the Hello Games web site and watching the brief trailers that came out with each update. That way you will have an idea of some of it. You have to watch all of them to see some of the smaller pieces, like the pets, frigate claiming and building, and the cooking, that are not obvious and not mentioned often. There are also the patch notes, which will take longer to go through if you read all of them. Several players have very helpful TH-cam channels with tips and walkthroughs. Survival Bob has just started a new walkthrough of the Interceptor update with 30 minute episodes. I also recommend Xxiou Gaming, Xaine’s World, Captain Steve, Jason Plays, Beeblebum, Moose Gaming and others.
One thing I will say is that combat can be quite fun with the mech exocraft to just go onto an agressive sentinel planet, get wanted level 4-5, and initiate mech-vs-mech combat. Very fun.
@@asgerthewritten4850 ah that looks like they haven't solved the incentive part of PvP combat. Many games technically have pvp but nobody bothers cause rewards dont exist or suck.
@@635574 exactly, I believe that is one of no man's sky's larger issues, but since it isn't a pvp-based game they don't bother. A larger issue I think no man's sky makes is ignoring the smaller details of the game that make it more immersive, such as clunky hitboxes and the destruction of objects such as larger pieces of space rubble and resource deposits, and making one large thing, such as a tree all act as if one area of contact effects the entire thing ( and nothing around it), which all contributes to a lack of a sense of realism within the game.
i've actually started playing it again and saw my save file from 2017. i dropped it immediately after 3h of playing--and since picking it up two weeks ago, i already have 30h+ in it. it's a completely different game from what i remember playing, absolutely amazing
It's definitely worth getting... the game is AMAZING. It's basically what most space sim fans want in a game: - Warp, Fly, Land, Walk, Drive, Creature Ride, Swim on any planet, throughout countless solar systems... explore everywhere in 3rd or 1st person - Find scorching planets with volcanos, toxic infestations & rain, freezing tornado blizzards, and tropical paradises with stunning night sky or with lightning. Even has meteor strikes! - Dive in caves and find mysterious objects or dig your own den to avoid the dangers outside. - Meet aliens, discover their culture, learn their history & language, help them with missions. Discuss opportunities or places to discover. - Discover strange monsters including sandworms & dinosaurs, black market traders and crashed derelicts as you travel across an infinite space. Capture the monsters and use them as pets to help you on your journey. - Build bases anywhere with multiple floors for anything you want. Teleport to them with ease and store resources as you explore the galaxy - Setup the electronics in each base with lights, switches and proximity sensors. Party it up with your new light and sound show or setup electronics to open automatically like your own space show - Cook meals for you and your guests with crafted meal receipes from animals you herded yourself. Enjoy the bonus from eating various ingredient combinations - Trade throughout the universe; buy stock items and warp between Space stations, Airports and minor settlements to make money - Or become a fighter and hunt traders, other pirates, or the law. Use an emergency jump and get the hell outta there - Get an Aircraft Carrier to store your Fighters, Haulers and Exploration vessels. Customize the floating base with your own personal rooms and equipment. Trade with aliens that land in your new Mother Ship, or buy their ships out completely - Build up your fleet of Cruisers to protect you and the Carrier. Send them out to various missions and reap the rewards or suffer the damage from mistakes - Land directly on the Cruisers of your fleet and gather their profits or explore their engine room to repair the damage - Upgrade your Carrier, ships, vehicles, guns & backpack with better shields, weapons, and storage space. - Join multiplayer in all of the above and blow your mind.
Although it is rare, I've come across other players randomly while just casually exploring a couple times. Coming across a galaxy someone else previously discovered already is pretty neat too.

I use to play this game back in 2018 with my old friend and we both loved it. We parted ways on our friendship. But only when I stumbled on this video it brought me back to the fun days in NMS I use to have. Just bought the game and can’t wait to play it 😜
small thing. you actually can randomly run into players now apparently. it was added as a part of one of the updates, forgot which. but it basically connects two (or more) players who happen to be in the same system to a local network and they're able to play together. pretty neat. it's never happened to me but i've heard of it happening to some people.
Bases don’t really have much of a use once you get a freighter I think. Base building can be a bit annoying with terrain respawning and plants- you end up putting them on stilts. They’re annoying to teleport back to and as you can build storage modules on freighters and can get tech to allow you to access it wherever you are bases become something you build when you find a nice spot and then forget about. edit: i appear to have caused quite some controversy
@@Tyranothrax I more meant for living in. They’re great for industrial purposes- I’ve made billions from a stasis device farm. I was more saying that they’re not really a house and are inconvenient when used like them.

The best money I've spent on gaming since buying my Xbox. It's a lesson for all those mediocre developers out there. We'll pay for a game, but we don't accept paid dlc, battle passes, or p2w being "normalized".
I really miss my Playstation just for playing No Man's Sky. What a fame... to see how it has changed over the years... my goodness. Might wanna get me a ps4 again just to jam.

@@juusukun DLC and Expansions are things of the past! Its all about the in-store purchases now. Loot boxes. Are you not happy with this game getting updates, and things added for free?
Just started playing and I am glad I waited to buy it, it is very well polished at this point. I have been deleting the shader folder in the in game fairly often to prevent crashing though. Not sure what that is about but as long as I delete it before I play I don't get a crash. Still, loving it so far and I am barely a week into it.
When those first trailers hit like a decade ago and the hype was unprecendented, I thought yeah no way this will ever work. The launch seemed to prove me correct. But somehow at the end of the day they made it work... They completely redeemed themselves, made the game they promised and actually expanded on it massively for free. It's quite impressive now.
This is my first time seeing this game since so long ago, I think when cargo ships came out, this is insane, I wish this game was cool back in the first year, I loved it so much, but I just got so tired after the first year or two, im glad to see it's gone places
I've been wanting to pick it up solely for VR. I watched a friend play it a few back (vanilla game) and he was zapping rocks and a rock grew legs, walked up the cavern wall and ran away lol He hasn't played it much either so we were both surprised.
It's, by far, the most creative fantasy-end of the space sim experience. However, it's also one of the most casual. This is also a good thing but certainly will make older, more veteran players wanting more. Even the fairly high tuned mods can't fill the void (litterally and laterally speaking heh). If Star Citizen is the most core feature space sim, then NMS is the exact other end; content rich. When you start to miss one, remember this!
I think that they can put in the game some realistic aspects, but without descharacterizing the fantasy-end and casual-like of the game, only to make a contrast of game tone. Or even better, make this realistic points adjustable as the Customized mode that exists in the game.
The thing is: the game is missing a combat system. If the game had a combat system, or even better, some kind of PvP, the void would be filled. Because without a threat, what's the point of base building, grinding and stuff?
Instead of releasing an unfinished game , and then patch it till it was playable. Like most do. They still released an unfinished game (boohoo on them for that) But then did what mod makers usually do , add cool content that enhances the experience. Not only improve the game performance or stability. This is something I always wondered. You see games where mods make the game sooo much better , and I’m not talking only about graphic mods. Like literally content mods , adding gameplay mechanics , ease of life mechanics , relationship options , dialogue enhancements, even entire side quests in some cases! And wonder , if normal guys , at their home, with their relative limited access to tweaking the game that modding gives you , can improve the game so much. What could developers do if they , the big that developed the game , worked on adding stuff natively to their game? No Man’s sky is the answer to what could be done. It went from a boring piece of shit of a game , to the amazing game it is right now. I’m Still 100% against this tendency of releasing unfinished games , but I 100% approve how they kept working on it and made it what it is
Yes. Releasing unfinished game is a plague in games industry, but at least Hello Games have love for the players and competency for make this game better every update.
IMO, I just wanted to play a space game that doesn't require 3000h of farming/grinding like elite dangerous does. NMS is one of the best games I have ever played and it's for sure pure joy.
I remember playing this when it first came out and was underwhelmed, yet still overall happy to play it. It got boring target quick so i stopped. Now, im hyped to get it on my P5.
Internet Historian did an upload about this game a few yrs back and I enjoyed it SO much. Now seeing this review, I’ll probably be picking it up mid 2023 👍
Yeah I really wanted this game to succeed when it first dropped, and I was really upset. Fast forward a few years and things look amazing. The game looks awesome and really mesmerizing. I plan to revisit it tomorrow while using some mushies, haha.
It’s a grindy game, but I mean that in the best sense because they aren’t trying to sell you anything (other than the base purchase of the game itself). The grind is actually fun and we’ll worth playing through
got it on launch, was obviously extremely dissapointed however, given the concept of the game, we all knew deep down that it just wasnt gonna be what we had hoped for ON DROP but the potential was always there and the developers were ALWAYS honest and transparent. To see where this game is now 7 years after i got it almost makes me tear up. ESPECIALLY considering the landscape of the gaming industry today and the incomplete flops that release every single month now. For these developers to trust in the process, trust in the fans, and trust in themselves speaks absolute volumes to their commitment to make this game a masterpiece. Because of this, i will always support this game and the team that created it. Every studio should take note that when you release a flop, be honest, transparent, and do you best to fix it.
Many gamers have been disappointed, but No Man's Sky was never a flop. Hello Games is a small team, and they sold a massive amount of copies at launch, so they really have the financial freedom to offer free updates for years to come. This is my number 2 game, after The Secret of Monkey Island and before Civilization.
@@pascalalexisparvex a game selling a lot doesnt have anything to do with a game being a flop in regards to the player retention because a game sold is a game sold. Cyberpunk was a flop and sold millions. BF2042 flop but sold millions... You are looking at it from a business perspective so you are correct, they didnt flop financially. But we dont run those companies so why would we care? They flopped in regard to our expectations and they all flopped HARD in that regard.
There is a story, but mostly told through the expeditions. It’s actually pretty interesting. Singularity has added a lot of potential for future lore in the game and I’m actually really excited for the future expeditions lore wise. I’m a bit biased because I got the game during the looper expedition but that one was my personal favorite. The resetting when dying really made me get good at the game on survival quickly. Singularity was pretty awesome if you ignore the technical issues. The whole spreading corruption thing will definitely be expanded upon in the future.
I'm gonna buy this game soon, No Man's sky seems to be what Spore wanted to be with the interplanetary mode but better, very much looking forward to play this game

@@BigDaddyWes There's not a single space game out there that decently incorporates both space and ground combat missions. Elite Dangerous failed and Star Citizen may never be finished.
Ive had this game for about a year. I got it on steam to play on the cloud as i was impatient for switch release and said the switch wont do it justice. That being said i did eventually get switch version too but just went eh on both. Restarted a few times this play thru has me hooked. And its the switch version. That little thing is just so ideal for me busy dad always at work or on the go. This will be a game i will be enjoying for a long time.
I hope they find a way to make freighters/frigates pilotable without completely shattering performance. I thought elite dangerous was gonna be the one who finally did that but like a stupid restaurant, they saw tasted the competition they decided to copy them instead of knowing where they're stronger and working on it. I havent played NMS since they updated the UI. At first I was absolutely LIVID all my ships modules were broken. I immediately forgave them when I realized you can convert them into a storable module so I'm not constantly wasting time farming nanites to change the build. And they made the storage WAY bigger. I don't even care that this almost 10 year old xbox runs it at 4FPS, I don't even care, it's a miracle it even works at all

I have a question, does the game feel repetitive? Minecraft, for example, bored me after some hours even though it was exciting for me at first. Is this game more interesting than Minecraft?
@@Carolina-ql1kn like most games, but tbh the amount of content is a lot, at this point I've done almost all the content and come back for expeditions/updates. At some point it does get repetitive, but there's something very relaxing once you get to the end game, there are days where I just go and play just for sightseeing and relax
1. better if it was only 1000 planets but with lots of unique items and resources to search for on each one. leaving you needing to go back and forth between them to collect stuff for crafting and upgrading. and unknown resources, that you pass by until, learning reason to seek them out. 2. The suit development should be set up for every body part, plus more unique spots and an expandable accessory section 3. combat engine's wide open for sprinting, dodging and cover fighting, use of grenades. ex.- come up on 10-20 aliens at a base with guns guarding resources and a random treasure like parts for a certain ship. The terra forming could be part of the much lacking combat too! 4. the ship dog fighting should have jukes and thrusters involved as well and a few more weapons. 5. make it a bit more gritty graphically, instead of constant cartoon color, add more atmospheric noise and popping highlights 6.MOST IMPORTANTLY (As with all open world games)- The story should have several breaks in it where a great number of resource, money, ship/base building or character development is inquired to progress at different points, leading players to have to go off and really explore and cultivate, with purpose, in order to progress! instead- (30 hours story, endless base crafting and 18 quintillion planets, no connection between them... give me a break🤷♂)
I agree with you mainly with the graphics, aliens guarding resources, suit development and stuff like this that makes the game more lively . If all is cartoon colored, becomes boring. If the game procedural engine is competent and includes your concept, a gritty and cartoon graphics contrast would make the game richer.
It's an excellent game when you first start exploring it. Absolutely worth the money and the time. But unfortunately, like so many other games, once you've reached a certain point, it can become pretty boring. Once you have more resources than you can spend, there's realy no point in getting more. And once you have a strong enough ship with which you can win every fight you pick, there's no point in fighting anymore. Even the in-person fights on the planets become very easy once you get the hang of it. Despite the fact that it has excellent procedurally generated content, there will come a point when you have basicly seen it all and the only differences you will see, are in the little details. So if you're looking for a game that keeps challenging you to get better at it, than this might not be your cup of tea. But what keeps me coming back, are the graphics and the build system. I love flying around the galaxy, hyperjumping to different starsystems to see what kind of planets they have. And when I find a beautifull one, I get creative and start building a base. The views one can create in this game, are absolutely superb. What also keeps me interested is the fact that this game continues to keep growing. Helo games realy pays attention to the feedback of their community and they have skilled developers, so there's enormous potential for greatness.
I play Empyrion Galactic Survival - a similar game. I have the same observation. The starting part is pretty spectacular when u r alone on a planet. Once you have a capital vessel (freighter here) and visit some planets it gets boring. But exploring the galaxy is fun as you say. These kinds of games need a long running campaign mode that will keep interest going - where you have an incentive to keep exploring.
Sort of how I feel about DayZ (minus the pvp aspect) - it’s incredibly challenging when you have nothing and it keeps you fixated for hours trying to gather resources. But once you’re fully geared, you’re at a loss at what to do next
If it has 50 hours worth of fun before it gets boring then it's money well spent, to me. Games that last less better have a kickass story and other payoffs that can stay in your psyche after completion. TLOU is a classic example. My question, then - how many hours before it gets boring and repetitive? For regular gamers.
@@markdexter6338 I only play Empyrion. The Color scheme of worlds in NMS just too cartoony for me. The Empyrion planets look stunning. Unfortunately it’s a small team and not many people play the game and the developer will take time to add programmable NPCs and campaign modes.
nomans sky is an infinit game it will add new features until all aspects of the real univers will exsist inside the game. it has the potential to become the Minecraft of the future where you can have every aspect of the game and your own design from scratch custom build, created and crafted. If the developers decide to work on it forever. lol also this game needs to become R18 its not a kids game and we can not live with the restrictions.
A few (ok plenty) of corrections of incredibly wrong information on this video: 1. The main quest is delivered by narrative, you talk with 3 or 4 characters (one of which you are looking for) and up to the end that is how it goes. It doesn't have an end because (this is so since day 1 so not a spoiler) if you "end" the game you are just sent to a NEW galaxy) 2. The story is actually interesting because it explains the "plot holes" in the game 3. Crafting is way more basic then minecraft. You just select what you want and "craft", no need to put things in a bench in proper order or what nots. Also, most things can be used raw. 4. You cannot mine the whole ground, only a few metters, and IT IS NOT PERMANENT, it WILL reset back to original after a few hours of playthrough (basically you have a limited amound of edits) 5. Only one material is exclusive to space, and its almost never used (platinum) 6. You don't really need to stock up resources to go out exploring, specially on non extreme planets where the atmosphere will wear you down 7. Not all systems have space stations 8. The so called ingame economy is useless and nobody cares, you will buy/sell without looking what is high/low. Money in NMS literally grows on trees 9. You will never be poor if you know how to play, you will have enough to buy everything the game has to offer 10 times over in 100h play 10. Your first freighter is FREE, and their prices are not high. Also, they are only useful as a space base. 11. You will never need to repair a frigate if you don't send them in literally suicide missions 12. Nobody does the multiplayer missions in groups, everybody solos them, it is even faster that way 13. Space battles are mindnumbing easy and you will often beat 5~10 enemies without even losing your shields 14. Your squadron can only GET IN YOUR WAY, they do no damage, bump into you all the time and stay in front of you, most experienced players don't use them. 15. You will only ever use the mech exosuit (And no, not really that great for battle), or the hovercraft to traverse distances. They are weak and mostly used to travel fast. 16. Every planet is different, but the same. Same minerals, same enemy mechanics, same dangers. So its more a visual gimmick. There are even only 3 different hostile plants. 3! 17. You will still use up dozens if not hundreds of hours just to check if all I said is true =p
Generative IAs would upgrade the NMS world, since NPCs to events in galaxy and solar systems to make this lively. This lacks in the game and is what you say.
I really wanted to get into this game, I followed the updates, but it turned out to be too repetitive for me. And to this day there is no real multiplayer as promised. After all, if someone loves exploration, gathering resources and building a base, I sincerely recommend it. It's fun, and I hope that newcomers will stick with this game for a long time.
Pvp is enabled by default…. People don’t know this. You can see other players pretty much everywhere and can group up to groups of 4. I enjoy the weekend challenges that reward quick silver and like to camp the space just outside the planet, to shoot down people who are about to leave and turn in the quest. As they will need to repair their ship/ replace their inventory before they can turn in the quest. As the weekend quest does not let you save while doing it.

Not all systems have a space station. And some are abandoned. You can have 12 ships. You can get the first frieghter free. If you don't like the first one, ignore and get a better one. I bought a used ps4 copy last month to have something else for my psvr2. Vr or flat, this game is slowly working its way into becoming my favorite game. Never played beforehand.
My Problem with NMS is more of a foundational one. The game itself just looks and feels awful to play. No amount of extra content will help that. I do however commend Hello Games for sticking with it.
Just wanted you to know I like the tone, pace and information of this video, it earned my sub even though I've not yet looked at the rest of your offerings. Keep it up!.
Woah I gotta get a freighter! I’ve done most everything else but never had enough money for one. Hardcore mode is a challenge! Fun, but I have a save game where I’m basically stuck on a poorly resourced planet and get shot down by hostiles if I manage to fix my ship and take off! 🚀
@@JCA1009 interesting. I’ve been messing with settings to find a good balance but I’m not sure what to do. Might have to cap my frame rate next time I play it again
love this video but i want to point out one thing the game is really enjoyable its one of my favorite space games but the planets get repetitive they just change colors and that's it there is no reason for me to explore other planets game should give me the reason to do so for example in astroneer you have to go to other planets in order to gather certain resources and all of the planets are different. if you want iron you have to go to another planet if you want clay its on every single planet i mean you get the idea. its just gets boring after some time(this is ONLY problem i have with no mans sky if they resolve it than this game will become 10/10 for me)
I don’t agree you said after awhile when 50 hours in? Not every planet is the same they have different looks, some are all water, some are cavs, some are getting hit with asteroids, some are full of hazards and you can’t stay on long, some are overridden with creatures, and some have hostile sentinels that constantly attack. The only time you start to see the repetitiveness is after like 15 planets or so and sometimes some planets have so many resources and things on them one of the perfect planets you can stay on that planet for like a whole 15 hours. The only way you’ll find the repetitiveness in the planets really fast is if you’re looking for it by just going from planet to planet and system to system really fast and not even actually adventuring each planet and actually stepping foot on them only just flying through.
@@andrebillups4079 i mean i get what you are trying to say and i do agree that this game is beautiful with its procedural generation but keep in mind that i am playing this for 1 reason to explore ye its really good that all planets are some what different but once you find 1 good planet then exploring different planets is just waste of time cuz every single planet has same resources so basically its pointless to switch planets. every planet has to have something that only that planet has and then going to different planets will have meaning. dont get me wrong i am not hating on this game in fact its one of my favorites i enjoy playing but i am not the only one pointing at this problem. so long story short i want developers to make sure that each planet has its role.
@@strange1702 but I’ve planets have different resources, water planets, volcanic planets, and there’s a few other types that have RARE elements on them. The common elements to survive are the only things on EVERY planet which is Iron, Carbon, and the plant things that give oxygen. So you have to travel to different elemental hazard threat planets to get certain RARE RESOURCES that aren’t on every single planet. Also I don’t play the game to mine the elements so idc just saying your comment isn’t accurate. I turned off the element collecting part of the game lol.
Yes, absolutely. Infact, a lot of people who aren't fussed about spending hours on a base can just work/live from their Freighter - basically a mobile base with no fancy building needed.
@@javicoca when I first got my psvr¹ I got high as shit and played literally all night. Same thing happened with Skyrim. I'm a grown ass man, doesn't happen very often these days lol. Shit just realised last time I played it was atleast 3 or 4 yrs ago, need to recheck it out for sure.
@@javicoca Not really. I can play No Man's Sky in VR sitting for 6 hours with HP Reverb G2 V2. It's actually a game which I tried in PC Game Pass before I had VR and I didn't like the game because of controls and the interface. It just didn't click for me. When I got used to VR, I started searching for best VR games and in every reddit post and youtube video people were saying that NMS is amazing in VR. They were right. I love the game in VR. I even tried to play without VR later, but it doesn't work for me. I only enjoy this game in VR. It just feels like magic for me. And there are some games that I prefer without VR, even if VR is an option, but NMS is just a different kind of experience in VR than in pancake version. The game is about exploring and actually being there (kind of) is magical.
@@Kondiqq do you play with keyboard and mouse or the VR controllers? I've tried it with vr controllers but didn't really get the hang of it, maybe I should've given it some more time.
Thank you for this, i played this game back when it released as i was clueless on the early reviews and poor quality on release. There was no tutorial and was thoroughly confused on how to start. Maybe I could get back into it and bring one of my friends along
yeah, I'll take a look when they add 50+ bosses. Tried this a few times and I just feel no incentive at all to do this busywork stuff without any goal.
Bosses would be incredible to makr the fauna more hazardous, and more types of harmful plantes would be incredible too. Is a space sim, so... Almost every planet is friendly is not much realistic, even in the fiction.
Star citizen is going to over take them soon, the only thing they could implement before SC would be planetary destruction. Soft armor is coming to Star citizen soon
The awesome thing with the new Echoes Update that came out in August 2023 is that you can become a well-known space pirate by f***ing destroying civilian frieghters and you can get away with it by eventually getting far enough away from Sentinel Interceptors that they lost track of you. Yes, I have done it multiple times and the Vykeens are my enemies... that's totally fine cause you can eventually get the reputation back in multiple ways... and I am a freaking Gek. That's the beauty with this game, you can do WHATEVER YOU WANT!? Put yourself in the shoes of that traveler.

@@AverageGameReviews Hey. Thanks for the offer, but I don't play the game as frequent to really know the game well and its community. I play a lot of games casually. I will think about it when I play the game more frequent and actually invest some time into it. At the moment at the time of this reply, I have been playing and investing time into Fortnite (due to the new LEGO Fortnite), Minecraft and Just Dance (I REALLY love Just Dance as a whole). The other game I have previously invested a lot of time into is Forza Horizon 5, but at the moment I am taking a break from it due to video game burnout for that particular video game. I played that game so frequently on a weekly basis that it got boring for me after a while. Again, thanks for the offer... but I am not much help at the moment for No Man's Sky.
Once you play with VR you cannot go back to 2d. I bought PSVR 2 just so I can play game in VR. First I played with PSVR but it was severely limited due to ps4 so I took brake until I got ps5 and psvr2.
It needs real guns and planets loaded with hostile creatures it's too passive of a game. Also PVP and base raiding would be amazing. Flying through space with friends, finding a planet with bases, landing and setting up a FOB then foundational wipe people. Would be super top notch
I'd like planets with weather so hostile you need to be in a vehicle to survive it for more than 10 seconds & planets where everything is trying to kill you.
My biggest issues with the game are that there is not really any purpose. Like, you're given this HUGE galaxy to explore, and the only thing to guide you when you start is an abysmal tutorial and confusing menus. I've tried to get into this game a few times now, when new content is released, and just cannot play for long because it's so daunting with how much stuff there is, and how little the game tells you about anything and that there's just no pointers at all.
I do wish they would add more combat. Like pirate bases. Pirates or maybe some type of galactic military will be on different planets and have bases etc. Maybe they are there scavenging for resources or they may be the military could be fighting pirates also. Or sometimes even doing deals with the pirates. Add some corruption to the mix.
This game became something completely different then I was hoping for. I had hoped that discovering planets and life forms on them would be central to the game. But all the planets look alike, the animals and plants on the worlds are not related to each other at all. It is a game with many sliders, which keeps tapping out of the same barrel. It's too busy in space and that's why you don't feel like you're exploring alone, or discovering planets yourself. What I would have liked to see was REALLY different worlds with different gravitational forces, elements and evolutionary creatures and environments connecting everything together, so that making each discovery within a world provide more and more information about the planet. Everything is disjointed and the focus has been on trading, building and owning starships or other vehicles. All those factions you encounter in space were a bad idea in my opinion. Space should have been almost empty, and civilizations should have been confined to just individual planets and solar systems. If I had made a game like this it would have been much more complicated. This is just child's play. With far too simple sliders that lead to anything but logic. If you don't focus on logic, you can put whatever you want into it, but no world will ever make sense. And that's what's going on with this game. Thousands of hours of programming time spent on it, and nothing that makes sense. I think it's wasted time and a missed opportunity.
In its first few years, before the Anomaly addition, another player just appeared in my base, then proceed to gift me many Stasis Devices.....absolute legend
Was looking for a good space game and at first tried star citizen BIG mistake But that’s just my opinion then I tried this game and I’ve never been so invested and entertained by a game it’s so crazy I have to actually stop and think that the adventure is essentially limitless
Nearly 300hrs of VR play, still have not done everything there is to do, Keep getting side tracked with exploring new planets and systems, chasing storm crystals is a lot of profitable fun. If you love space and exploring this is for you.
”space exploration game” - procedural generation makes the notion of exploration meaningless. you can not discover something that was not there to be discovered but was barely generated.
Nice video with a lot of good tips! I think "Custom" mode disables achievements, which I know a lot of people care about. So although having the settings there I have mixed feelings about it. Optimally I would want to play with custom settings, but I also want to play with achievements, thus making custom mode virtually useless to me, and many others.
I'm here trying to figure out why anyone thinks they're comparable titles. To compare Starfield to this is pretty ridiculous. It's like comparing call of duty to Grand Theft Auto because they both have guns.
I am just working on a comparison video between the games because I know people are interested! And yes...they are very similar in genre but VERY different in execution.
@@AverageGameReviews I just subbed to you. I’m interested in watching that! Right now I’m on the Fence with purchasing an Xbox series X and Starfield. Probably in the future. I’ve got 1000’s of hours into Oblivion, Skyrim, and some of the Fallouts. I think Starfield will really shine in the future after updates and fixes, and when the modding community takes over.
i wonder how many times theres been a situation where two players were in neighboring systems or maybe even seperate planets in the same system and theyd never know lol
Played it for a while. As you said at the start, the story in this game is somewhere between a tutorial and an afterthought. And without a story to progress the whole game becomes kinda pointless. Like sure, I can farm and manufacture myself into the biggest, prettiest ship in the game, but what's the point? There is no villain to murder, no princess to save, no reason to have a cool ship or a big base or even a lot of money. Wish this game had a point of some sort.

Starting playing recently and love it! My "it's this but this" take is:
- It's the space exploration and fleet mechanics from Elite Dangerous but much simpler and less laborious, trading realism for fun.

I’m so happy to hear all of this I went to the midnight release for this game and just recently got back into it havnt played it in years
I play it mostly FOR the lore.

@@TheJordan276 It used to be a weak point in the game so it was needed
@Ayoo yeah but it's had to convince someone randomly to
@@asgerthewritten4850 ah that looks like they haven't solved the incentive part of PvP combat.
Another thing is the entire game is playable in VR, too. So if you really want to get immersed this game is great for it.
i've actually started playing it again and saw my save file from 2017. i dropped it immediately after 3h of playing--and since picking it up two weeks ago, i already have 30h+ in it. it's a completely different game from what i remember playing, absolutely amazing
That really shows how far it's come.
It's definitely worth getting... the game is AMAZING. It's basically what most space sim fans want in a game:
- Warp, Fly, Land, Walk, Drive, Creature Ride, Swim on any planet, throughout countless solar systems... explore everywhere in 3rd or 1st person
- Find scorching planets with volcanos, toxic infestations & rain, freezing tornado blizzards, and tropical paradises with stunning night sky or with lightning.
Teleport to them with ease and store resources as you explore the galaxy
- Setup the electronics in each base with lights, switches and proximity sensors. Party it up with your new light and sound show or setup electronics to open automatically like your own space show
- Cook meals for you and your guests with crafted meal receipes from animals you herded yourself. Enjoy the bonus from eating various ingredient combinations
- Trade throughout the universe; buy stock items and warp between Space stations, Airports and minor settlements to make money
- Or become a fighter and hunt traders, other pirates, or the law. Use an emergency jump and get the hell outta there
- Get an Aircraft Carrier to store your Fighters, Haulers and Exploration vessels. Customize the floating base with your own personal rooms and equipment. Trade with aliens that land in your new Mother Ship, or buy their ships out completely
- Build up your fleet of Cruisers to protect you and the Carrier. Send them out to various missions and reap the rewards or suffer the damage from mistakes
- Land directly on the Cruisers of your fleet and gather their profits or explore their engine room to repair the damage
- Upgrade your Carrier, ships, vehicles, guns & backpack with better shields, weapons, and storage space.
- Join multiplayer in all of the above and blow your mind.
Although it is rare, I've come across other players randomly while just casually exploring a couple times. Coming across a galaxy someone else previously discovered already is pretty neat too.

Bases on planets are all about automated resource gathering. Take advantage, ignore it at your own detriment.
@@Tyranothrax I more meant for living in. They’re great for industrial purposes- I’ve made billions from a stasis device farm. I was more saying that they’re not really a house and are inconvenient when used like them.

It's truly incredible game, I just wish its space flight controls were more customizable.
I've been wanting to pick it up solely for VR. I watched a friend play it a few back (vanilla game) and he was zapping rocks and a rock grew legs, walked up the cavern wall and ran away lol
He hasn't played it much either so we were both surprised.
You could try survival or permadeath modes!
The thing is: the game is missing a combat system. If the game had a combat system, or even better, some kind of PvP, the void would be filled. Because without a threat, what's the point of base building, grinding and stuff?
Instead of releasing an unfinished game , and then patch it till it was playable.
Like most do. They still released an unfinished game (boohoo on them for that)
But then did what mod makers usually do , add cool content that enhances the experience.

So true
They flopped in regard to our expectations and they all flopped HARD in that regard.
honest and transparent? easy killer. They went radio silent for 3 months after their nonstop lies and scam at the beginning.
The whole spreading corruption thing will definitely be expanded upon in the future.
there is no story, just meaningless grind
The main story is actually good. I actually felt something for the characters especially the homie youre trying to find and rescue
The twist for that and the constant pinging for communication hits me in the feels every time 😢
I'm gonna buy this game soon, No Man's sky seems to be what Spore wanted to be with the interplanetary mode but better, very much looking forward to play this game
I really wish they would add ground combat with a cover system. It would be damn near perfect.
Would fill completly the weakness of game, that is combat. Outlaws was the first update in this direction. The last one was other. I hope that you ara speaking will be the content of the next one.
The last thing no man's sky needs is to borrow yet another thing from another game we've already played😮
@@BigDaddyWes There's not a single space game out there that decently incorporates both space and ground combat missions. Elite Dangerous failed and Star Citizen may never be finished.
@@whiskeyearned1543 At least NMS can be decent or good in combat while excellent in space missions
@@DanielFerreira-hz4cc True. We're getting Starfield though, so I'm happy.
I don't even care that this almost 10 year old xbox runs it at 4FPS, I don't even care, it's a miracle it even works at all
No mans sky is on sale on the PS store right now for half price ($29.99 instead of $59.99 for the PS5 and PSVR2 versions) and yes you get both for the same price, and can freely switch back and forth between versions at will
Still better than Starfield. At least in No Mans Sky you can fly your ship seemlessly. From planet to space
That's cos NMS has much less detail
@@KlutzyBossmuch less detail thats untrue it just has realism
Great review , bought this purely for my vr2
Great to hear!
An amazing ggame, and one fo the few i have permanently installed...you will always find something to do even after thousands of hours (my normal play save has over 800hours, and about other 400 between expeditions and permadeath)
and the last update was insane...and all for free
2. The suit development should be set up for every body part, plus more unique spots and an expandable accessory section
3. combat engine's wide open for sprinting, dodging and cover fighting, use of grenades. ex.- come up on 10-20 aliens at a base with guns guarding resources and a random treasure like parts for a certain ship. The terra forming could be part of the much lacking combat too!
4. the ship dog fighting should have jukes and thrusters involved as well and a few more weapons.
5. make it a bit more gritty graphically, instead of constant cartoon color, add more atmospheric noise and popping highlights
6.MOST IMPORTANTLY (As with all open world games)- The story should have several breaks in it where a great number of resource, money, ship/base building or character development is inquired to progress at different points, leading players to have to go off and really explore and cultivate, with purpose, in order to progress!
instead- (30 hours story, endless base crafting and 18 quintillion planets, no connection between them... give me a break🤷♂)
@@KamleshMallick I have Empyrion, in NMS can you have npc crew defend you or assign them to task or are they just like decoration like in Empyrion?
@@markdexter6338 I only play Empyrion. The Color scheme of worlds in NMS just too cartoony for me.
The Empyrion planets look stunning. Unfortunately it’s a small team and not many people play the game and the developer will take time to add programmable NPCs and campaign modes.
I bought this on release. And returned it 48 hours later. In actually quite excited to try it again
It has been transformed!
nomans sky is an infinit game it will add new features until all aspects of the real univers will exsist inside the game. it has the potential to become the Minecraft of the future where you can have every aspect of the game and your own design from scratch custom build, created and crafted. If the developers decide to work on it forever. lol
also this game needs to become R18 its not a kids game and we can not live with the restrictions.
A few (ok plenty) of corrections of incredibly wrong information on this video:
1. The main quest is delivered by narrative, you talk with 3 or 4 characters (one of which you are looking for) and up to the end that is how it goes. It doesn't have an end because (this is so since day 1 so not a spoiler) if you "end" the game you are just sent to a NEW galaxy)
2. The story is actually interesting because it explains the "plot holes" in the game
3. Crafting is way more basic then minecraft. You just select what you want and "craft", no need to put things in a bench in proper order or what nots. Also, most things can be used raw.
4. You cannot mine the whole ground, only a few metters, and IT IS NOT PERMANENT, it WILL reset back to original after a few hours of playthrough (basically you have a limited amound of edits)
5. Only one material is exclusive to space, and its almost never used (platinum)
6. You don't really need to stock up resources to go out exploring, specially on non extreme planets where the atmosphere will wear you down
7. Not all systems have space stations
8. The so called ingame economy is useless and nobody cares, you will buy/sell without looking what is high/low. Money in NMS literally grows on trees
9. You will never be poor if you know how to play, you will have enough to buy everything the game has to offer 10 times over in 100h play
10. Your first freighter is FREE, and their prices are not high. Also, they are only useful as a space base.
11. You will never need to repair a frigate if you don't send them in literally suicide missions
12. Nobody does the multiplayer missions in groups, everybody solos them, it is even faster that way
13. Space battles are mindnumbing easy and you will often beat 5~10 enemies without even losing your shields
@@Archy871 how do you see players everywhere?
@@dillonvillon Travel to a popular system, using the player base feature on the nexus, Eisenheim is the second most popular system, the beginner system is the first. Whenever the game loads in, any named/ ringed system on the load is a place a player has named/ visited. Make sure multiplayer is selected in the menu as well. You could also visit the nexus once in a while and see players running around doing their own thing. Probably nexus missions or using the unlock station to learn various recipies using tech modules. Some even taking their cooked animal meals to the NPC to trade for nanites.
People are everywhere. All star systems overlap between PC, Xbox, Nintendo and Playstation. Your bound to find some.
@@Archy871 isnt the beginner system always a different one?
@@lordfox2426 No. you always start in the Euclid galaxy. One of 255. I’m talking galaxies, no star systems/ solar systems. When you go to the galaxy map, that’s the galaxy. And the name should be listed on the corner of the star map. There’s 255 total and Eissentam is the most populated/ explored so far due to spawning more frequent “lush” planets. Or Earth like/ habitable planets with beautiful biomes much like those in the initial launch trailer.
Not all systems have a space station. And some are abandoned.
You can have 12 ships.
You can get the first frieghter free. If you don't like the first one, ignore and get a better one.
I have found 3 players in the wild, i.e., not in anomaly or on anomaly missions. So you can see them, drop in, and give them a wave.
The exosuit can be turned into an independent mech.
20 hours in after 60 hours of starfield. Having a much better time
I bought a used ps4 copy last month to have something else for my psvr2.
Bit late seeing this comment but thank you for the sub man! :)
minor correction - Switch version does not have cross-play or multiplayer in general
Thanks for that! Sorry for the inaccuracy.
I just wish we had a performance and stability update for pc.
Same for the Series X, game can be choppy as hell at times
It's pretty stable on PC. I have a middle PC and can handle it really well.

love this video but i want to point out one thing the game is really enjoyable its one of my favorite space games but the planets get repetitive they just change colors and that's it there is no reason for me to explore other planets game should give me the reason to do so for example in astroneer you have to go to other planets in order to gather certain resources and all of the planets are different. if you want iron you have to go to another planet if you want clay its on every single planet i mean you get the idea. its just gets boring after some time(this is ONLY problem i have with no mans sky if they resolve it than this game will become 10/10 for me)
I don’t agree you said after awhile when 50 hours in?
Dang bro your missing out I had a planet the other day that was huge mountains all around covered in jungle fauna with extremely deep valleys
I don’t really like base building in games, so I was wondering is the rest of the content enough to keep me satisfied?
Yes, absolutely. Infact, a lot of people who aren't fussed about spending hours on a base can just work/live from their Freighter - basically a mobile base with no fancy building needed.

The awesome thing with the new Echoes Update that came out in August 2023 is that you can become a well-known space pirate by f***ing destroying civilian frieghters and you can get away with it by eventually getting far enough away from Sentinel Interceptors that they lost track of you.

This game came a long way and keeps getting better ludicrously quick
It needs real guns and planets loaded with hostile creatures it's too passive of a game. Also PVP and base raiding would be amazing. Flying through space with friends, finding a planet with bases, landing and setting up a FOB then foundational wipe people. Would be super top notch

great vid. had this game for a while completed the story' line now just exploring and doing my own thing but still fun .
Great video! No Man's Sky on Switch does not have online multiplayer though. The only "cross-platform" connection to Switch are bases and discoveries.
Couldnt agree more
I do wish they would add more combat.
Conclusion: it's kids game in the end (PG7). Really a missed opportunity
Verdict is out. No man's sky is actually technically better than Starfield.😂😂
What...starfield...that releases tomorrow 😂
Oh it's out in some time zones...guess I'll need to make a comparison video!
Who’s here after the Starfield release?? 😂
The redemption arc of No Man's Sky is legendary
