Timo Tolkki, is known worldwide as a guitarist of the band of Power Metal and Melodic Metal Stratovarius, has produced multiple albums to date, in his golden years he was named by fans and the media as one of the fastest and most influential guitarists of the history. Thanks a lot for the documentary and the EN subtitles, you have done a great job. Timmo's compositions and playing will always be inspirational and helpful in our happy or dark times!! Whatever bad has happened is insignificant in contrast to the music he produced and played. Anyone can have bad times or problems. Will always hope for a return!!!

Thanks for the video! Was very informative and put together a lot of the stories surrounding Timo Tolkki and Stratovarius.
As much as I love modern Stratovarius starting with 2009's Polaris, there will always be magic in the songs Tolkki wrote since the start. In fact, even if Eternal was the best throwback they could ever have to the Visions-era Stratovarius, it will never be the same. I have to agree that you can't stay stuck in one style forever, and that change is needed, but I wish that it wasn't only Stratovarius that was able to change and keep up with the music of today. I really wish all the best for Tolkki, and that one day he learns, or relearns to create new music that can be different but still passionate.

Thank you for making the documentary. I've been listening to Stratovarius and some of Timo Tolkki and Kotipelto's solo albums too since 2011. My favourite albums are their older ones from Twilight Time to Episode. I especially like Timo's singing in the earlier albums and think it's a shame that he stopped singing in them. Listening to Stratovarius has given me motivation at some times in my life where I felt as though I had nothing left to drive me forward and in that respect Stratovarius has helped me cope with my own mental health issues and the circumstances I find myself in from time to time. I really hope Timo finds his spark again.
Yup, let's hope the best for Timo! Strato is my N°1 band when it comes to motivation, I do listen to this band since I was 10 in 2009 (now I have 18) but my favourite albums are from Episode to Elements haha. Even though I like the albums where Tolkki is singing too.

I was and still I am a huge Stratofan , seen the band live 10 times, mainly within 1997 and 2005 in Spain, also attending that "pissing" show at Piorno Rock Festival in Granada. A real pity how the story ends, but let's take the good moments they left forever on history of music!!
I love Stratovarius albums (first 3) back in the day when Tolkki was singer too. Much heavy lyrics and speed metal with hard riffs 🤘😎

Ojalá que pueda recuperarse, ya que su aspecto en general me preocupa muchísimo... en varias ocasiones había dicho que dejó el chupe, así que definitivamente tuvo una recaída... eso tampoco ayuda para nada.
Nadie sabe a ciencia cierta qué le pasó desde 2014 en adelante... pero es un secreto a voces que el fracaso de Avalon II tuvo mucho que ver.

Buen reportaje. A mi me encanta Timo Tolkki. Tengo todos sus discos originales menos dos, el primero de Stratovarius y la ópera Sana. Le vi el año pasado en Madrid y me gustó a pesar de las criticas. Todos sus proyectos son geniales y es un músico fantástico. Desde aquí le deseo mucha salud y que sepa que somos muchos los que le queremos. Un saludo.

con stratovarius empezo desde abajo y logro llegar arriba y cuando lo logro dejo la banda y penso que formando una nueva banda empezaria desde arriba por su reconocimiento en stratovarius pero desgraciadamente no fue asi estuvo de nuevo abajo pero ya no lucho por subir con sus nuevos proyectos simplemente los dejaba y comenzaba uno nuevo pero se repetia la misma historia

This is a hell of a video I love it. It's so well made and thought out. Kudos to you. IMO I wonder why Timo didnt just stay a manager in strato and stop playing guitar for a while instead of just dropping the band all together? I'm a huge fan and always inspired by his music but the fact that he gave up a dream to be where his music is now is a little disheartening. I hope he bounces back someday.

A very very interesting video and it is always nice to have the big pictures for such artists. The fall of Timo Tolkki is very sad, first for him but for Strato as well... I really love the today Stratovarius but when I compare to the one from Tolkki's era... Man, it was much better when Tolkki was composing. I can only say that it is a good thing Tolkki left because of his disease and the lack of inspiration who lead him doing not inspired music with new bands rather than destroying Strato's quality. We could mention the album Stratovarius even if I cannot unlike this album. It has something nice, attaching, catchy but also sad when you know all the background. This is an interesting album (I made a review on my channel if you want to spend 10 minutes... with English subtitles).
Anyhoo, maybe one day Tolkki will really be back.
Keep dreaming. I knew him personally and he refuses to treat his disease. He's a mess and he is too proud to admit he's got issues and plays the 'nice guy' act in public but ain't so nice in private.

Me encanta Stratovarius, sigo hace muchos años la banda para mi Timo Tolkki es uno de los mejores guitarristas del mundo la mente maestra una influencia y manera de tocar espectacular de crear melodias y canciónes únicas e insuperable con toques neoclásicos en el power metal.

Excellent and well researched documentary. Love your content, subscribed! Stratovarius was the band that got me into metal around 15 years ago, so it was very interesting (and rather heartbreaking...) to learn what happened to Tolkki in the recent years.
Bartosz Wojczyński It's heartbreaking to see him in the actual condition, and that each year he has less fans :/ He complained in Symfonia because he was playing for 300 people and now they're 100 🙄. Timo really needs to release new fresh content. Thanks for your comment and the subscription! :)
The Problem is he's always playing the same shit. The Old Stratovarius style without Stratovarius. He needs to learn how to play again, and play something else rather than the same Chord progressions.
Stratovarius themselves changed for the better since getting Mathias as their new guitarist. His new level of playing has upped their musical talent, whereas Timo is still stuck in the 1980's.

Wow, I didn't even recognize him in the thumbnail! Really great video. I feel like he was in the wrong when it comes to his thoughts about Stratovarius. I think they have progressed really nicely, even without him. I do however feel that Stratovarius could have used his talent, so it's a shame he left...but if the facts are that he wanted to play the same stuff over and over and never change, I don't think Stratovarius would have come as far as they have.
Tbh, it seems like Tolkki never got out of that robotic commercialized hitch that Stratovarius got stuck in years ago. It's quite heartbreaking to see him in such a state and I hope he'll find that spark again.
He got addicted to that lifestyle and still wants to continue to relive it. I don't think he realizes that it will NEVER happen the way he wants it too ever again.
Lo digo como seguidor de Stratovarius, lo mejor que le pudo haber pasado a la banda, es que se hubiera ido Tolkki. Sí, se extrañan esos discos como Episode, Visions y Destiny, pero la época dorada se acabó. El nuevo sonido de Stratovarius me gustó bastante, sobre todo el Nemisis, porque el disco Elysium (2011) suena casi igual al Polaris (2009). Ahora bien, en mi opinión el disco Infinite es un refrito del Destiny.

muy de acuerdo. Aun así, sigo pensando que los últimos discos de Strato están lejos de Dreamspace, que personalmente me parece el disco más curioso, personal y currado de Tolkki en toda su carrera (y menudos solacos se mandaba en ese disco, todavía no sonaba a un clon de Malmsteen)
Lamentable personalidad de timo, excelente compositor, siempre será un referente para mi.
Mis dos idolos, sigo Stratovarius desde que cumpli 12 años. Ya son 20 años y realmente me sigue entristeciendo no poder tener un album con kotipelto y tolkki haciendo buena musica despues de dejar todo el pasado Atrás. Mi idolo tolkki sigue haciendo material de calidad pero esta opacado por las dificultades de la era del streaming musical, pandemia y muchas otras cosas. Y mi idolo Kotipelto sigue en stratovarius y aunque esta fuerte la banda, sin tolkki no suena ese misticismo que la caracterizaba.
Le deseo mucho exito a Timo Tolkki en sus proyectos.

buenísimo análisis... creo que la misma depresión o problemas de bipolaridad de Timo le impiden disfrutar de todo lo que hace por muy buenas ideas que pueda tener, para él no es suficiente y eso le ha hecho fracasar en los proyectos post Stratovarius... por su propio bien y el bien de la música espero que logre canalizar de la mejor manera estas malas vibras que corren por su mente

It's a real shame to see how far he's fallen. My favorite composition of his will always be Visions (Southern Cross) and that was over 20 years ago at this point. But only he can get himself out of his downward spiral at this point. If he refuses to change and adapt then it's his own fault. I wish Timo the best, and I'm rooting for him. He's around the same age as my Dad, so I know he can still get a lot out of life yet, and I hope he never gives up completely.
I don't know if you met him and knew him like he did but you are 100% correct! He REFUSES to change and adapt seeing the old ways as "superior". He made all kinds of excuses to say he is NOT with the 21st Century in most capacities.

Stratovarius without Tolkki is...different. Not saying that the current Strato is bad, no...far from it...but still it is not Strato that caught me in metal scene 16 years ago :(

Well maybe it is a matter of preference. No doubt that Strato is still delivering top-notch songs up to now, but its no longer stick in my mind and make me want to sing along just like in Tolkki's era

A mi parecer Timo jamás debió dejar Stratovarius, es evidente que su padecimiento terminó afectando directamente su vida personal y musical. Muy triste ya que es un artista, compositor además guitarrista muy bueno.
Por eso mismo se alejo, por la enfermedad.
Nemesis le gustó a Tolkki. Por ahí hay una entrevista donde aprecia al disco y a su creatividad.
El asunto con el Stratovarius de Kotipelto/Johansson/Kupiainen/Porra/Pilve, es que consiguieron hacer evolucionar su música y encontrar una nueva identidad para Stratovarius. Tolkki no parece encontrar aún su "groove" por así decirlo en estos tiempos modernos. Lo que más me interesaba de él hubiera sido el supuesto album que quería grabar con Tuomo Lassila y Antti Ikonen que nunca ocurrió. Todos esperamos que él esté bien y regrese pronto.

A mi me da más pena no haber tenido Credo, imagina a Tolkki en su estilo más técnico y neoclásico de nuevo. Lástima que eso no vende y ya lo pillaron de obrero de la Frontiers. Ahora que se mejore y a ver si puede terminar la trilogía de Avalon.
Las cosas han mejorado mucho desde el lanzamiento de su nuevo álbum de Avalon, Return to Eden, que ha recibido muchos elogios de fanáticos y críticos.Timo Tolkki está de vuelta!
