    This was SO INSIGHTFUL! I was working on a survey and had added some questions. After watching this video, I had to delete many irrelevant questions cause they made no sense at all. Thank you for your time and efforts in creating these masterpieces!

    My survey was destroyed in this video (I won't say which one it was) xD , although I have gotten much better at framing question and surveys now (thanks to the MOM's test book I would definitely recommend every designer to read it) , I would still say I learnt something, so thank you for this chethan. :)

    Can you make a part 2 for this where you create a survey for the same problem statements. I feel after this video I know the mistakes and problems these folks made but not how to correct them or Guidelines for the different types of surveys mentioned.

    • @DesignPilot
      @DesignPilot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a great question. The thing is that, for these problem statements, I wouldn’t even make a survey. Because it don’t really give me actionable information. Rather I would have a 15-30 minute interview and have a general conversation and understand things from there.

      Should be easy to figure out based on knowing what not to ask. Just make sure you VERY CLEARLY know what you will do with the answers to a particular question. Consider if you even need to ask that question and you are 100% not sure what the answers might be

    At 12:00, In my perception that is relevant question. E.g. if you are building an App to find out the maid. This question/data would help you to priorities the feature for MVPs and later on you can work upon other feature. As, you rightly said in the starting of the video it is all about "intend".

    • @DesignPilot
      @DesignPilot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely not!
      1. You don’t ask users for solutions. That’s the incorrect way of designing.
      2. Just by sending it to 10-20 people you cannot come to conclusions what is important and what is not.
      3. Just because option 1 is important doesn’t mean that option 2 isn’t needed.

    • @ajay1964
      @ajay1964 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DesignPilot What if you have limited resources and time to launch your MVPs, how would you priorities it?

    • @DesignPilot
      @DesignPilot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well in a real life scenario, you already know the users and problems and use cases. In the real world, no one sends a survey and then decides to start a company based on that.
      Let me give you an example of what question would make sense. Let’s say Swiggy sends a survey to all its customers and asks what are the top 3 services they use. If users say Swiggy Genie, Instamart and Food ordering, Swiggy can then choose to cut down the operations of Meat Delivery since users are not using that part of the feature.

    However at 22:04 what if the designer has posted the survey link publicly in a place where anyone (men and women) can fill it. He would want a screener question to remove the noise from affecting the data. Maybe that's why he included it?🤔

    • @DesignPilot
      @DesignPilot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Don’t you think it would make sense to mention in the beginning of the survey that, this survey is only for women? That is at any men who see the survey won’t fill it up. Or it needs to be a dynamic survey such that on choosing ‘men’ as an option, all the other questions should be hidden.

      Surveys are the least effective ways to gather insights especially when you’re working on a hypothetical project. You can either make easy assumptions or find information online or do an interview.
      In order to know what question to ask, you need to know what you want to know. It’s pure common sense.

As I am working on redesigning the web experience for TH-cam Music (personal project), I am familiar with the target users and have already pinpointed certain issues through my own usage of the platform. In this context, it would be better to engage in interviews with real users to gain deeper insights into the challenges they encounter, as opposed to sending a survey right? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Can we decide the target users and come up with personas just by taking surveys or from 5-10 people? If not what are proper methods to find the target users( I'm currently working on a personal project)?

    • @DesignPilot
