- In July 2017 I visited Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan. While the region is officially part of Iraq, the Kurdish provinces in the North of the country make up an autonomous region with its own government, military, and visa policy. This allowed me to visit Iraq without a visa, and without any safety concerns.

They even have MP in Kurdistan Parliament & have schools in their languages. How could Kurds oppress anyone where Kurds have been pressed for ages! Kurdistan is for everyone who believes in democracy. You can be whatever ethnic you want. You can speak whatever language you have or whatever religions you follow. When Isis tried to genocide all the non-Muslim like (Yezidis, Assyrians, Arabs, Turkmen etc) went to Kurdistan for help & Peshmarge protected them.

Iraqi Kurdistan was one of my favorite trips ever. The souks of Erbil are amazing and Rawanduz and Shaqlawa are beautiful. Korek mountain, the waterfalls, Can't wait to go back.
