Just wanted to show off the "new" valor hbg since it was buffed in TU3. Espinas with 25 min quest has 79,200 HP Mods used: Dango 100% result and spawn C / mailbg / discord

I honestly didn't even know that HBG had a step evade until this video came into my recs, my instinct every time I've played either bowgun is to stop aiming before I try to dodge. Maybe I oughta give Heavy the old college try again with that in mind lol
Man, watching this makes me realize that I need to be taking *A LOT* more advantage of side hops. You were dancing around Espinas like it was nothing! The fact that he even leaves himself open for a full volley after his two most common moves is huge too. I never thought this would be such a positive match-up! Also, I feel like a bit of a doofus for not considering Chaos Gore's HBG, because I was still using Shagaru's up till now. 😅 Thank you again, Mai! This is exactly what I wanted to see! Oh, and that triple stagger while firing a full volley at 2:30 was immensely satisfying.
chaos is just super good and easy to setup with aff etc so its definitely strongest gun for pierce overall. Im actually thinking of trying my luck at running another lvl 200 quest with valor hbg
didnt think it was possible for hbg to get even more busted when the devs know how broken elemental pierce is but here we are back again. stole your build and had extreme fun against afflicted diablos so thanks for that

I feel like augments are equally or even more so of the set than some talismans. Considering you can get up to 2 good skills per armor piece vs a tali maxes at the 4-5 with certain slots
hbg is better at everything except maybe normal 3 lol I can see spread 3 lbg being better only from a certain playability standpoint but thats not often at all
That's because Pierce 3 doesn't get much benefit from Setting Sun. Its damage ticks are already really close together and they don't hit all that hard individually. Elemental Pierce, however, is the opposite of that. It has very high individual tick damage with a long gap, so shortening that gap and getting more hits is extremely strong (borderline overpowered even), hence why Setting Sun is always used in conjunction with that shot type instead.
also good luck getting a monster to stand still enough for setting sun pierce 3 to ever be "useful" and on another note its actually better to have the ticks spaced cause it can sometimes allow hits from the side or behind to hit a weak spot more while with setting sun all hit would get absorbed on a less weak point
Im a total bowgun noob so I'm confused with the build. Does Mai only have 50 aff? 25 from weap+wex1+CE 2? Is CB3 worth it anyways? What skills should i prioritize when running pierce HBG? Im trying to pick up a ranged weapon for the first time in my MH career so it's a lot to learn PS: Seems like more than 50% aff rewatching the footage, what am I missing?
I only use quickstep on lbg so its not much different. Its almost like you get over confident with walk n shoot and more prone to getting hit sometimes cause you think you can just walk through everything.

Outstanding run! With this playstyle of HBG, is raw pierce the best overall choice?
Siege normal does really well but pierce generally has the edge even if slight in some cases
This playstyle looks sick, is it viable for other monsters too? Doesn't have to be meta
its basically only usable with pierce ammo so it works well on everything
