Happy Veterans day to all active, retired and past. Because of you we can do whatever we want when we want. Yes i have a Boyds thumb hole. They are great stocks.
I have a Boyd’s Heritage on a Tikka T3 Lite, .308. The stock w/pillar bedding fits so tight that my gun smith said it didn’t need any more bedding. Great stock.
Hey buddy, I don't expect you to know this but will that stock fit a Tikka t3x roughtech? I asked this because the Tikka t3x roughtech has a slightly heavier barrel. profile.
@ Check Boyd’s website. They are very specific on fitment. Choose a stock style and enter your exact rifle nomenclature and it will tell you whether or not it fits. I think also, you can enter the rifle nomenclature and the program will tell you what, if any, stock will fit. Their telephone reps are also very helpful. I have Boyd’s on a 10/22 and a CZ 457.
I have a Boyd's pepper laminate on my Ruger American 6.5 Creedmore already I just hadn't thought about doing the Bergara. it could use just a touch more comb on the stock. really like the American just looking to upgrade the magazine now.
Thanks! It's been a nice, quiet, restful day. Seem to have needed that today. Of course I did spend some time handloading for another video or two.... :)
I picked up a Boyds Platinum last year to replace the tupperware on my Ruger American Predator 6.5CM. I went with the pepper laminate color and sprung for the laser checkering ( which is suprisingly nice and sharp for being laser engraved as opposed to machine or hand cut) as well as the black fore end and grip cap and pillar bedding. It was the first Boyds stock I have ever owned and I have been really happy with it. It did add a little over a half pound in weight compared to the cheap plastic factory stock but it also balanced the rifle much better. Whereas the factory stock leaves a RA Predator very front heavy, with the Boyds stock on it the balance point is now right at the front of the magazine. All in all I couldn't be happier with it and it takes away all of the cheap feeling of a RA with the factory stock.
Love mine.. ❤ As soon as I bought a Savage Axis ii.. I knew that I was going to order a Boyds stock for it! Mine is now my beautiful firearm 😊 If you order a Boyds stock.. pay the extra for pillar bedding.. or you'll be adding those down the road 😮
I o n 4 different Boyd’s stocks and all have been a joy. From looks to function, they are a five star product. My largest caliber is a .280 down to .222. I am about to order one for a Remington 788 .30-30… going to heed your advice here…pillar bedding, black forend tip and pistol grip cap. M color of choice still up in the air. Love this channel.
@@lukecrutchfield8613 - it was completely ready to go! Had no need to open up the barrel channel. If you have an unusual barrel contour, I'd recommend mentioning that to Boyds when you order. I didn't have to - it came with the proper barrel channel.
My Remington 30-06 ADL, which was my first rifle that my parents got me 27 years ago shoots amazing with a Boyd's Heritage Stock, Timney 2 stage trigger, pillar and glass bedded. It still weighs under 10 pounds even with all the glass bedding work. Topped with a 3-18×50 G3 Monstrum Tactical scope, which I would rather have an Element 2-16x50, but my scope works fine. It shoots absolutely amazing with sub half inch groups and better. 🇺🇸
I just put this exact stock on my 300wsm x bolt last night. Jb weld bedding job, put 5 130ttsx at 3400 into half inch with it today. Not bad for a budget rifle.
CCW-MFG manufactures bottom metal for a handful of rifles that pairs really well with these stocks, has some that support AI mag conversions. You guys should take a look. I have a Boyd’s Prairie Hunter on a savage 110 in 6.5 creedmoor. Couldn’t be happier. It’s reasonably light, stiffer than poly stocks, and with an acra glass job it shoots 3/4 MOA with 129 SST hand loads without too much effort in load development.
I’m using it on my Russian Mosa and I’ve got the gray. It’s called pepper and it’s the classic stock like what you’ve got on the Creedmoor and I love it. I’m shooting a three-quarter inch group with it at 100 yards and that’s due to the old regular military surplus stock just beat the tar out with that metal butt plate. It felt like I shot a 300 win mag after about two boxes.
And it reduced the recoil a lot and it’s more comfortable to shoot. It’s easier for other people to shoot and it’s just overall a nice hunting rifle. I’ve taken two deer deer with it and I’ve taken a coyote with it. I would love to see Gavin do something with that because it’s like one of those cartridges it’s kind of round upon because it is a Russian cartridge but it does have potential, I do a lot of reloading for you. It’s an interesting cartridge and it has close to the same same ballistics as like a 30 Ott six but I shoot 311 diameter bullets out of it because that’s what shoots really accurate. I’ve tried 308 bullets I’ve tried just regular standard round. You can pick up off the shelf if you can find them and they’re usually 150 or 180 bulletand 180 bullets and introducing new shooters don’t want a lot of recoil
It would really be cool to see Gavin do something with a Moen because it really makes them more functional and organ ergonomically better. They are fun to shoot and then if you got a recoil pad, it really help
I put an At One on a 77/44 which is a good stock for the shooting bench but completely useless for a walking around rifle. It did tighten up the groups a bit with that rifle. I also had a CZ 452 American that really didn't shoot well. Unheard of for those rifles. I put it in a Boyd's Pro Varminter stock and it's shooting clover leafs at 50 yards. I would definitely get pillar bedding on my next one.
I would like that stock with an All Weather Ruger American 7mm-08 original model with a 22 inch long barrel. A Boyd’s Heritage stock is just right really. To my way of thinking.
Pre made Boyd’s stocks on Sale for Veterans Day on optics planet. Prairie hunter stock on my a bolt II 7mm wsm left hand in pepper laminate black forearm, grip cap with white line spacers and pillar bedding w/ deer tracks/deer engraving
I like them. I just wish the traditional styles were offered without the cheek rest portion. Though as a left hand shooter I appreciate they do offer them set up for left handed shooters. But none would still be my preference.
I would like to put one on my father's old rem 700 one of these days I will but my oldest son took that rifle over so maybe I'll let him decide what stock he wants on it.
Returning to zero? An even mediocre stock should have absolutely no effect 5:49 on zero. I swap between competition chassis and hunting stocks on several rifles all the time. The zero never changes. I do make a minor adjustment for the new projectile. But I can write down the adjustment and reverse it when swapping back. Works all the time.
That's great! I've had a few problems with zero shifting when working with old, poorly inletted stocks in the past. I like it when that doesn't happen.
I have a Boyd’s Spike Camp stock in both my Savage Axis 6.5 Creedmoor and my Ruger M77 .300 Win Mag. I love both of these rifles in these stocks. So comfortable, easy to shoot, stable and look great. Love Boyd’s stocks.
I’ve got a Boyd’s stock my my Savage axis. It’s just OK, fit wasn’t great, but workable and did need bedded. Certainly an upgrade for the axis, but on a Bergara B14 I feel it’s a down grade.
running four different Boyd's stocks two Savage model 99's, one saddle grip the other a pistol grip two Howa's, one standard stock the other in an AT-one
The factory stock on my Tikka T3x Lite didn't soak up much recoil so I went with a pillar bedded Boyds platinum model on my 308 win. The difference shooting was night and day; it's a much happier rifle now. Kinda wish I went with the heritage for a better cheek weld even tho the 3-9x40 Leupold glass is mounted about as low as the objective will allow. Do you ever have issues with cleaning rod clearance on the heritage stock? Thanks Guy!

@guyminer3168 I have owned many Boyd's stocks from both ends of the spectrum (low to high), and I've had some perfect stocks and not so perfect stocks. Just trying to give some transparency here.
Well, you can order it with a longer length of pull. Can be sized for a long action. This one is thick enough to easily accept the Bergara's varmint diameter barrel. It's not particularly petite. Flimsy? Not at all. I'd think it's stronger than most or all regular walnut stocks. I've had a couple of Model 70's with really nice heavy walnut. The 375 did have a larger, heavier stock, which was welcome.
@@guyminer3168 You can order an AT stock with longer length of pull? That would be a start, but it´s also the overall dimensions that are small, the pistolgrip is not sized for larger hands. I like the look of the stock though.
