I'd recommend Portal for a 3D/fps game. It lets you take ur time without any rush or tension.

Nah just go full balls to the wall and jump right into the deep end with either Dark Souls 1 since all you really need to do is follow a guide and there are a ton of ways to cheese the game if you are a newbie, if you can beat it you can beat anything. I don't consider myself to be some top tier sweaty god gamer and I beat Dark Souls with a friend's help on telling me what to and where to go when I got stuck/lost and using TH-cam videos and guides as well. I had fun and got better at games but I had to stick to it and get my butt kicked a bunch too. No shame in using guides or asking for help.
My other pick would be Ultrakill. Ultrakill is one of those games where it is fairly easy to learn and "beat" but is impossible to master due to its super high skill celling. Getting a P rank on every level of Ultakill is hard but fair and do-able pushing your self to "get good" and learning/practicing all the cool tech levels and bossess the game has to offer, is extremely fun. Because the better you get the more fun you will have and the more you will fell like an unstoppable killing machine. Again I am not some top tier sweaty god gamer yet I managed to P rank all the main levels of Ultrakill on Standard difficulty and Ultrakill is my 2nd favorite game of all time.
Another good suggestion would be my favorite game ever Hollowknight since it has a very good difficulty curve all though out and has a ton of fun stuff for you to test your skills on and get better at the game.

@@clipso9061 Darksouls is great people online make it and the community look/seem a lot worse than it actually is/ they actually are. The most important thing is to stick to a game and don't give up. You can take breaks or ask for help or use a guide but never give up or use cheats unless the game is fundamentally broken IE the game has bugs or glitches making impossible to beat. That's my mentality and it has gotten me a lot farther than I ever thought I could go. Because the secret is every game is meant to teach you something

@ its not a casual game tho. Well it's not that bad the difficulty is from a lack of tutorialization. You need to play games to be able to interpret the rules of dark souls and actually play it it's not a beginner game at all because of what it asks of the player. I thought you were trollin but now i see you just dont think.

@@clipso9061 Once you get a hang of Darksouls kinda janky controls your golden. This is't anything like I want to be the guy with insane levels of precise platforming, Touhou where you need nerves of steal, or like an extreme demon in geometry dash where you need to hit multiple small hard to hit frame perfect beats with no clear visuals only intuition. You can easily learn Darksouls rules via help from a friend that's what help me get it most.
There's only a few bad notable choak points in DarkSouls 1 mainly Ornstein and Smough once you beat them your more or less home free if your not doing the DLC. I honestly think Darksouls isn't all that hard. Its punishing cause one mistake = death 9 times out of 10. But fair cause again 9 times out of 10 anything you see an enemy do you can too. Like I was a gaming noob my friends made me play Darksouls and they helped me beat it and I loved it and grew a lot. So Darksouls is a good choice if you have the right people for it. I am not saying play it alone blind that is a bad idea.
My main point people should not be daunted or intimidated by "hardcore games" they really are not as bad as people make them out to be. All you need is friends, help and guides which are 100% ok. If Arlo, Ciricle toons , and Shenpai got this anyone can.

@ i have beaten all the souls games. They aren't beginner friendly, and souls game are a lot better blind, this gpt ass comment got me questioning your humanity.

you didnt really include any games that require fast thinking or complex space navigation here. even some decent stragey goes a long way. tactical breach wizards, portal, undertale, taletales walking dead, terraria, Minecraft, cult of the lamb, cultist simulator, fallout 3, fallout 4, the outer worlds, prey, the outer wilds, the outerworlds, the ori trilogy. any call of duty game, any 2d Mario game, any 3d mario game.
Most of the recommendations you gave are really only friendly to people that would rather be reading a book at worst, and only really teach players basic inputs at best. The thing I like about gaming is how much space it gave me chalanges that i had to alter the way i thought about the game to solve. while these games are great for their entertainment value, they loose a lot of the best qualities of gaming in that pursit. all the games you mentioned have legend status for a reason but they just arent a big enough toe dip into what makes gaming gaming you know?
