  • In this video, we hear the story of Edgardo Lim. He has a 1966 Toyota Corona that he fully restored. As a Filipino immigrant, he did not expect to start restoring cars early on but it soon became a passion and a lifelong journey. His Toyota Corona has won numerous events and Edgardo became the first Filipino to be invited to Pebble Beach. His story reminds us that anything is possible and that cars are a great way to connect to all kinds of people.

Great example of one of the first mass produced Toyotas for the US. 👍

    Wow
What a classic beautiful restored Corona. It used to be very popular in Pakistan in early 70s but with the passage of time it’s gone .

Very beautiful car, and interesting story. My father bought a brand new in 1967 model in red color. We still have it all original and has 90,000 miles on it.. it runs better than new car.

An excellent car! I own a 1966 Corona with 2R engine, unrestored but in good condition. It has been in the family from the beginning.

Congratulations Mr, it doesn't have to be worth a million dollars to make people smile, I never rode in it, but my mother had one exactly like yours before I was born, I've got photos of it & my sister's both have fond memories of it too, Rj in Oz

Kupte si loukoťové hliníkové ráfky 13" nebo 14". Já mám na RT40 13", 6,5" na pneu 13" 175/70. V Japonsku tam dávají asi (nevím přesně) maximálně 14" 185/60. Je nutné dodržet stejný vnější průměr pneumatiky!! Je to pak bezpečnější jízda a vzhled je super !!! Původní ocelové disky 13"/4" jsou k ničemu i s pneu 13" 165/80 !!! 🤩👍

Great color choice. 75 SR5 Corolla is the one that got away. 2TC sport flares. So much fun.

Hello Edgardo I have a 1972 Toyota Corona MKII Wagon needing restoration again. I have been buying parts from the gentleman in North Carolina, Carlyn Dinkler for 20 years... yes he is the Father of the Toyota Coronas. You have a great looking Toyota Corona. Hope to share photos of my car with you sometime.

When we lived in S.F. briefly in the early 69-71ish, my older step-brother, who was around 18 at the time, had the coupe version of this car in the same color. I wasn't a car guy then, as I was around 11 YO, but I still thought it was a nice looking body style. I hope this car gets preserved for generations, if only to show that even then, Toyota was on to something big with continuous improvement.

This car is a love it or hate it car!!! But once you fall in love with it , you are sold!!! To me its a GEM 💎
I found out later on in life that it was designed by one of the Great Italian Auto Designers , and I finally understood why it always reminded me of my childhood days Alfa Romeo s 🙂
Yours Sir is a beauty n I hope to see it in a show one of these days, thank you.

There's something eloquent with the shovel nose Corona, especially if it's a coupe/hardtop.
The four door sedan is beautifull too.

I had an RT-80 for nine years. It was reliable, but pretty slow with the 2R 1.5 litre engine. This blue RT-40 looks great.

Too bad, just a handful years ago an old 1966 ? Toyota Corona wagon was at a local auction.
    Rust free and perfectly straight.
Too bad at that point the wrong person got ahold of it

When did Toyota begin offering 4 speeds? I remember seeing a restored 67 Corolla in a Toyota showroom. It was a manual transmission, but a 3 on the tree. I remember early Toyota automatics had column shift, but I didn't know early manual Toyotas were 3 on the tree.

I had a 66 or 67 2 door corona , red, I drove it for 2 years in about 1984/85. I let it go because I needed a small pickup truck. I should have figured out a way to keep it. They only imported about 13,000 of these a year.

My Dad used to own Toyota corona RT-46 wagon. The car was tough strong like a tank. Africa roads are very bad to drive, but this car was made for rough Africa roads. My dad used it to transport lots of stuff for his business. The more you carry heavy loads, the car drives more smooth. I was looking that model all over to buy . Once I found the same model in Australia, but it was way expensive to bring it here in USA. I want to ask one favor. Could you please locate me the address of the North Carolina guy "the father of Coronas. Thank you!
