    In the 90s, my job transfered me to Puerto Rico. I knew that I needed reliable transportation, so I had a Toyota Celica shipped there. Living there.... the Island's beauty, the beautiful people and women, and yes... my travels in my Toyota Celica... will forever be etched in my mind as some of the best years of my life.

    I worked at a Toyota dealership in the late 70s and we sometimes saw some of these old classics. I owned a 1970 Corona RT43 (4 door version of the red 2-door at 8:27). It had automatic and factory A/C. My wife loved that car.

    I love these cars. I grew up during the 70s 80s. My dad had a 1965 Corona pickup we later converted the 1500 engine and geargox to a 18R Hilux. Wonderful build quality. I drove that until 1994. I bought a 2.2 4Y Hilux that same year and is still driving it today. Toyota does not build the most beautiful cars but boy do they last.

    All Toyotas' name such as tiara celica, Crown, Corolla, Corona, cressida is something you put in your head such as a crown. the Toyota corona mark ii wear a sticker in the back window stating power steering. mark ii and Crown were the first for 1971 with power steering. Crown's option was a dual a/c with a refrigerator in the back. only for about 4 beers and some cheese. highway driving the refrigerator works just fine. beautiful design. another option was 8 track.

  • @tomfrazier1103
    @tomfrazier1103 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Out here in Waianae, I had a chance at a '58 Toyopet Crown. According to the paper, three Toyopets showed up in Dec. 1957. I used to see Mark IIs on the road in the 1980s. I drove a Nov.'68 Corona, sold new in Vegas. The yellow RT-46 was only sold in Hawaii I'm told, by people who had one in California. The Tiara was sold in the States, but the Land Cruisers outsold the cars until the later Coronas and Corollas. I have seen some mint condition '60s Crowns in Kailua before.

  • @bluenorm
    @bluenorm 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    1971/72 Corona mark II used to have a sticker in the back stating power steering, first for the coronas. 1971 toyota Crown (top of the line, including 8 track) also came with power steering for the first time, and in addtion with dual air plus the refrigerator in the back. 1 cube feet. enough for 4 bears and some cheese. highway cruising made the refrigerator work perfect.

      A lot of Corollas sold in the states end up in Puerto Rico as second hand cars. That's where most of the running and driving AE86s are.

    Had a 1980 Toyota Corona deluxe model beautiful interior maroon and silver pàint. Great, dependable car. When I went to buy another one, they were discontinued. Later models weren't half as nice so I got a Pontiac. If they put them out again I'd buy one. It was a class car. I also had a1980 mini van, my children called it my spaceship. Another great vehicle. Over 300,000 miles no problems it was a 1987 mid engine van passenger model.

  • @mohabatkhanmalak1161

    I remember all the models - having been in one or seen them on the roads - except the very early "Crown"at 2.05 and the last "Sprinter" at 14.05. Toyota engines are one of the best. The straight 6 in the Land Cruiser is also the same powerplant used in the Toyota 6 tonne truck, yes they even make or made trucks. Love Toyota, as the world's people mover and this museum is doing a great work.
