I usually install Broan vent from Menards, but a customer recently had me install a Panasonic and the install was so easy. It’s clear Panasonic consulted installers when developing their design.

Your detailed cost price quote is really nice. I know contractors that won't do detailed quotes because they take time. And the work is so good now they can say here is the price for the bathroom. If you don't want it fine. Not much time invested.

I never give written quotes...learned along time ago people just use it against you or other contractors.. I'm referral only and if cost is an issue don't bother calling.

Almost all contractors refuse to do simple contracts let alone a line item cost plus

I’m doing my own retro-fit with this fan. Famous last words, shouldn’t be to hard. 😅 wish me luck!

I'm going to remove a loud existing fan tomorrow & replace it with a new fan & the cost will be somewhere around $450 fan & labor.
These are people I've known a long time. I did one last summer where I had to do add everything, elec, duct, roof vent, drywall etc... & that was a multi day task that I did for around $1,300 & that was too cheap.

No doubt, when you get into the roof it’ll definitely take up a lot of time 👍 I’ve definitely made out on some of these and also lost a lot of time on others…

I recently put one in my house and it took over 20 hours to complete the job before patching and painting given the finished condition of the house and no existing fan or vent. The materials alone were over $400. With that amount of labor, I dont see how any professional contractor can take that job and stay in business for less than $3,000. That's a little over $100/hr for labor and that seems low for my area.

I think soffit vents are illegal some places because of the reasons you mentioned.

I usually charge $275 in Ohio and get beat out by "that guy" that does it for $100. its a tough market with a bunch of day laborers running around. Sounds like I need to up my prices but don't want to price myself out of the market.

Microsoft word 😂 nothing that special. But once you put one together you can copy & paste things quite a bit 👍

There's a lot of hacks that will do that for less. Its difficult to be profitable competing with that type of person.
