    “Don’t want to give myself that rabbit hole to get stuck in because I will sit and try to figure out which amp sim sounds incrementally better and the mix never ends up progressing”
    I feel this on a metaphysical level

      This is why I get stuck in the mix and don't just write music. Spot on.

    The rabbit hole is something i'm trying to not get stuck in. Been trying printing guitar tones so I work with that tone and not have the habit of wanting to reamp something.

    The UAD 1176 Legacy versions are totally clean though. They didn't model the saturation in those old legacy plug-ins. You would need to use the newer ones (which you can see that he owns) if you want some coloration.

      This is why I always read the manual, because sometimes I hear stuff that isn't actually there haha. Especially when it's so subtle and you are only doing a couple db of comp.

    Uhm am I the only one wondering if the "secret sauce" to Aaron P's workflow is that inch of hair between his headphones and his ears? Adds a perfect muffle for dialing in the sick guit tones?

    I remember being in middle school listening to Aaron when he was in Razing Alexandria and Protagonist; Antagonist. It's cool to see a Vacaville guy come so far. I ALSO just learned that Bonnie McKee, who wrote on a number of Katy Perry hits is ALSO from Vacaville. But I digress. Good job, Aaron.

    Quite modest layout of the session in terms of routing outputs and sends to different buses. Clear and punchy sounding nonetheless.

    Why is this guy on here? He's hardly a credible producer or mix engineer? Watching how he works compared and how his mix sounds to all the others you have on here just makes him looks super amateur. Sorry to hate - just think that those that pay for your service have been ripped off with this one.

      As much as I want to disagree. The dude is talented. He knows things. But the mix really is a cloudy mess. He just didn't get the balance right. I have had many mixes in this stage. I believe it has to with headphones too. The dude is mega talented. But he was too close to the production.
      You can hear the bass just having no real spot, the guitars are super dark and tone is squashed. They don't need more compression. Drums are just plastered with low mids. Just smothered with the wrong low end boosts, and wrong cuts.

      You guys need to learn about subjectivity. It's showcasing what sounds good to HIM. Not you.
      Besides, I don't see any of you getting asked on there, so your credibility is worse than his.

    • @user-2Hteyasizyc
      @user-2Hteyasizyc 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@SyklonusThis is not subjective. He has the low end wrong. He has a picture of low end but it's not actually there. The guitars sound like they were recorded through a wet bag of dog shit in a bathroom with a radio shack mic 12 feet away.. And what is so super talented about chugging. This is garbage all around. It's not hate. It's facts. I've done this for 21 years.

      I mix in headphones. Not everyone can afford super nice monitors or has the space to dedicate to mixing. I’d stack any of the mixes I did through headphones against yours lmao.

    • @mattvdh
      @mattvdh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      because he is aware that they aren't neutral/balanced and knows how to adjust for it, its a fair point though, you shouldn't be mixing with colored headphones, it'll have you chasing your tail
