Well phase 3 really ruined our guild after a while... It was probably the best guild i've been a part of since OG Wotlk. The momentum that SoD had is gone now, it feels like a high slope getting back into Phase 4 but we're trying, but the feeling isn't there like it used to. At least that's how it is for my guild and a lot of other Swedish guilds i've talked to on Lone Wolf EU.
Wasn't excited for it but decided to continue anyways and I got sucked back in pretty much right away. Been clearing BRD with a well geared AoE group and the clear speed is absolutely nuts. I feel like I'm doing the same amount of damage at lvl 51 as I was doing at lvl 60 with raid gear back in 2019. It's actually kind of fun even if it feels weird.

I was using the martyr seal over seal of righteousness and it was making my holy spec a lot more fun to level now I've cancelled my sub because I can no longer have fun with the new changes. These changes are all just freak accidental bugs spawned from incompetence. It's leaking from SOD/Cata clients into Era and has nothing to do with them wanting to "upgrade" Era servers.
It is a way of converting classic players into retail players. Basically attempting to get you to be more comfortable with the predatory version of the product in a subtle way. An ancient way of cultural conversion done by empires on conquered/vassal regions. This is all you need to understand.
It's baffling because they HAVE a version of Classic WoW they can fuck with, Season of Discovery. Just add all these changes THERE and nobody would care.

Why don't they just leave the era realms alone and make classic plus servers where they start making these sort of changes. Seems weird af to start changing how the game works on the classic era realms. People clearly just want to play the old version of the game for better or worse.
I thought season if discovery was literally supposed to be an experimental mode of the game to have changes to the game. So odd that they'd change regular classic.
They didn't intend to make these changes, they just don't want to spend dev time trying to keep Classic ERA untouched while they make changes in SOD, both versions run on the same build, so somethings they struggle to keep different. It's lazy.

They are trying to find a chip in the armor to sneak into Classic Era and start monetizing it. They can gauge player reaction to this to see how vulnerable they are to change and slowly condition them into cosmetics and cash shops. It's what happened with TBC Classic. Heck it's what happened with Wrath back in the day that ultimately led to TRH.
As someone who played Druid at release, I can tell you that they did have the ability to use Polearms until they removed it in a later patch of Vanilla.
All I can find on wowpedia is " Patch 3.0.8 (2009-01-20): Now trainable by druids.". Looking for some patches in Vanilla but can't find that Druids could use them or that it was removed. Maybe someone else can Sherlock it but from what I can see that was a WOTLK addition.
@@treebreeze3797 I had to look this up. You are right, I have the book in front of me, and they could use Spears. Searching wowpedia for Spears it says that it was in the game up until 1.1.0 (2004-11-07) which was the North American launch version and Druids are listed as a class that could use them. At that point all Spears where converted to Polearms. "With the game's full release, the spear weapon type was removed and all existing spear items were reclassified as". Again following this trail to Polearms, the only noteable patch change was in wotlk where Druids where able to learn this weapon skill again. Between those two patches there are no mentions of this.

Most likely the plan to get rid of era servers. They want those people to stop playing classic and buy the new expansion trilogy, or to move on to cata classic so they will buy wow tokens.

I always been on the #nochanges side, not because i think vanills is just oh so perfect, but simpley because they would mlst certainly change things i dont want changed. Blizzard took down Turtle-WoW's unreal video via issuing a takedown notice. Last night Asmongold was forced to take down his own video reacting to Turtle-WoW. Seems to be having a Streisand Effect, a flood of new players all the sudden. Thanks for saying good things!
I'm almost certain that these changes were intended specifically for Season of Discovery, and Blizz messed up and added them to era without realizing it. It's the only way I could see this being justified
@@klavier285 Because it adds usability for an underutilized item category on Alliance which would benefit druid in having. Which is why it was added later in WoW. This gives and option which sees these items used more.
Sure but these are Era servers. Personally I am all for changes but I want a polling system like OSRS not random changes nobody asked for. Also you have way more severe stuff leaking from SOD/Cata clients like paladins learning divine steed and warlocks getting instant and non channeled rain of fire. The druid polearm thing is just from the cata client and now they figure since people already learned it I guess this is now a feature.

Any singular move theyve made isnt a big deal. But their constant unwillingness to believe that people actually want Classic to be Classic is proven in all these moves. It's not a bad decision for them tho, They want to mess with classic in the hopes that people quit and go to cata or retail to collect money from tokens and other stuff in their store. Blizzard isn't making any money off classic era players so to them it's a business move

Funny I don't remember people freaking out when they removed spell batching, I seem to remember people asking for the game to be changed to remove it, and also praising the addition of the chrono boon.

There’s a REASON why all of us still like playing Era. It’s because Vanilla will always be replayable and Era Vanilla is the closest we have to unchanged. There going to mess up the only thing we have that they said they’d never touch. They also messed up the interface already months ago with the retail one.

Seems they just made the alliance as equal to horde and giving druids an extra weapon, which is fine. Dont see the big issue. Only true issue is the guild UI. That is it. This really feels like manufactured outrage for wow creators to get some clicks :/ EDIT: After doing a little bit more research, it does appear that some bugs were introduced with this patch on the era servers. While I still don’t think the changes shown in the video are egregious, I have a better understanding of where some of the outrage is coming from.
Couldn't be that people that love vanilla wow are tired of blizz messing with their static version of the game. All blizz had to do was release classic and leave it in maintenance mode. But no, we get chronoboon, decay removal, UI changes, dispel removal, bowls of fruit, item name changes because of breast milk drinkers, and now the latest batch of changes.

I heard this was an accident because these changes are for SoD. Since SoD uses the same servers, sometimes the changes for SoD accidentally show up in era. This happened in phase 2 as well with some class tuning.
This is possibly the most ridiculous outrage and shit fit I have ever seen. A guild panel change doesn't affect the game at all. It's a UI change. The alliance world buff has 0 impact on horde players and doesn't really affect the people that just play classic for leveling, which is most people I know. And druids using polearms only affects druids specifically, if at all. I'm not even sure there are any polearms in the game a druid would prefer over what they were using before. Also nice of Nixxiom to plug Turtle WoW at the end for the extra money, talking about classic+ when the entire point of this video is throwing a shit fit about 3 incredibly minor changes to classic. Do you really think players mad about a UI change want to go play Classic+?

I completely agree with you that these changes are nothing, but the reason people are angry is that Blizzard said they would not touch Classic. If they can do these small changes, who knows what more changes they might add? No one trusts Blizzard.
Here’s the thing that players don’t seem to understand. You have Classic Andy’s that want no changes to the classic era. Much like Nixxiom has mentioned. However, on the other side, you have those who wanted Classic era and now small added things along with it. This is not a surprising case. Doing classic, day in and day out, over and over again, people will get BORED of doing the same thing constantly. If no change happens, the game/version will die. It’s the same thing that happened to OSRS, where it was released in the era of 2007. Players enjoyed it, but then got bored of doing the same shit. The moment Nightmare Zone came out is when “OSRS” or “RS07” was no more. It became the equivalent of a private server. Classic WoW is following the same pattern.

Personally it doesn't bother me, but on principle Blizz should not change classic. If that's what they wanted to do, they need to pull the trigger on "Classic Plus" and align themselves with player expectations and past promises.
I think people are stupid to turn down the world buff equivency; so many alliance would just have priest alts accounts with a clicker to help them get their own buff safely on top of Org. It's not fun gameplay. It's extremely dull. The complaints for druid polearm and chronoboom are extremely valid though.

honestly guild tab is something I welcome it doesn't really matter I mean come on they already changed the entire game options ui to the modern one anyway
People are more upset that there’s no fresh classic servers and no tbc/wrath servers. If blizzard added a fresh classic server or tbc with these updated changes, doubt there would be any complaining.
Because people are afraid of a "snowball" effect which, imo, is fair. Oh sure, it's a fee small changes now, but what about a few months from now when they make a few more, and then a few more? And before long there's enough changes that Classic Era doesn't feel much like Clasic anymore. Give an inch, they'll take a mile as they say.
Blizzard ought to do 3 things: 1. Make it possible to make your own "legacy version" servers for all the prior expansions & Vanilla, just like Minecraft lets you! 2. Add WoW subscription to the Gamepass (and make fresh Classic-Vanilla servers for the opportunity). 3. Stop messing up all the time!

If they are going to make changes, I want to see the Calendar being added. Setting up guild events or raids there and not being restricted to third party programs would be very nice.
I can testify that Druids were allowed pole-arms at release of WoW and they took it away before BWL, maybe even before Onyxia. Endgame for Druids was either Bear tank or Resto, all the pole-arms were either Hunter centric or vendor trash after that point
Original guild UI was an absolutely pure garbage. Replacing it with new one is just a bonus. It's crazy just how much some people are willing to moan about keeping bad stuff in game with 0 effect other than being annoying for sake of nostalgia. other changes, fair, that's changes to actual gameplay experience, that's bad. Pretty dumb take imo. The whole premise of these realms were established BY BLIZZARD as realms that would not see changes and not be touched. They sold 15$ character clone and transfers for this precise reason. And now they are going back on that. The best thing about private servers is that there are no or very very few bots. There are some projects that release a serverwide announcement when an account is banned. Ascension is fantastic. Turtle WoW has some discord/reddit mod-type mods. I really wish Vanilla Plus picked up, but sadly so few people play it.

Why don't they just leave the era realms alone and make classic plus servers where they start making these sort of changes. Seems weird af to start changing how the game works on the classic era realms. People clearly just want to play the old version of the game for better or worse.
I thought season if discovery was literally supposed to be an experimental mode of the game to have changes to the game. So odd that they'd change regular classic.
They didn't intend to make these changes, they just don't want to spend dev time trying to keep Classic ERA untouched while they make changes in SOD, both versions run on the same build, so somethings they struggle to keep different. It's lazy.

They are trying to find a chip in the armor to sneak into Classic Era and start monetizing it. They can gauge player reaction to this to see how vulnerable they are to change and slowly condition them into cosmetics and cash shops. It's what happened with TBC Classic. Heck it's what happened with Wrath back in the day that ultimately led to TRH.
As someone who played Druid at release, I can tell you that they did have the ability to use Polearms until they removed it in a later patch of Vanilla.
Which patch was that? I didn't play Druid till around TBC; only played Pally & Rogue in Vanilla
All I can find on wowpedia is " Patch 3.0.8 (2009-01-20): Now trainable by druids.". Looking for some patches in Vanilla but can't find that Druids could use them or that it was removed. Maybe someone else can Sherlock it but from what I can see that was a WOTLK addition.

Page 78 in the original WoW game manual showed that druids could learn spears and I remember using them on release also

Searching wowpedia for Spears it says that it was in the game up until 1.1.0 (2004-11-07) which was the North American launch version and Druids are listed as a class that could use them. At that point all Spears where converted to Polearms. "With the game's full release, the spear weapon type was removed and all existing spear items were reclassified as". Again following this trail to Polearms, the only noteable patch change was in wotlk where Druids where able to learn this weapon skill again. Between those two patches there are no mentions of this.
There is always private servers, untainted by Blizzard's bungling.

It's possible. SoD runes temporarily made it to era in the same update causing all sorts of crashing for a few days.
@@klavier285 Because it adds usability for an underutilized item category on Alliance which would benefit druid in having. Which is why it was added later in WoW. This gives and option which sees these items used more.
The issue is not that it slipped through to ERA, the issue is that instead of them fixing the bugs, they advertised them as NEW FEATURES.

None of these changes are well thought out and tailored specifically to Era servers. They are all just freak accidental bugs spawned from incompetence and now they're trying to play it off as intentional.

Not "Oh, well this was something people really wished they'd had back in the day, let's add that in. Nothing more, nothing less.

Funny I don't remember people freaking out when they removed spell batching, I seem to remember people asking for the game to be changed to remove it, and also praising the addition of the chrono boon.

EDIT: After doing a little bit more research, it does appear that some bugs were introduced with this patch on the era servers. While I still don’t think the changes shown in the video are egregious, I have a better understanding of where some of the outrage is coming from.

Couldn't be that people that love vanilla wow are tired of blizz messing with their static version of the game. All blizz had to do was release classic and leave it in maintenance mode. But no, we get chronoboon, decay removal, UI changes, dispel removal, bowls of fruit, item name changes because of breast milk drinkers, and now the latest batch of changes.

I heard this was an accident because these changes are for SoD. Since SoD uses the same servers, sometimes the changes for SoD accidentally show up in era. This happened in phase 2 as well with some class tuning.
Stop fixing what's not broken.

This is possibly the most ridiculous outrage and shit fit I have ever seen. A guild panel change doesn't affect the game at all. It's a UI change. The alliance world buff has 0 impact on horde players and doesn't really affect the people that just play classic for leveling, which is most people I know. And druids using polearms only affects druids specifically, if at all. I'm not even sure there are any polearms in the game a druid would prefer over what they were using before.
Also nice of Nixxiom to plug Turtle WoW at the end for the extra money, talking about classic+ when the entire point of this video is throwing a shit fit about 3 incredibly minor changes to classic. Do you really think players mad about a UI change want to go play Classic+?

I completely agree with you that these changes are nothing, but the reason people are angry is that Blizzard said they would not touch Classic. If they can do these small changes, who knows what more changes they might add? No one trusts Blizzard.
Here’s the thing that players don’t seem to understand. You have Classic Andy’s that want no changes to the classic era. Much like Nixxiom has mentioned. However, on the other side, you have those who wanted Classic era and now small added things along with it.
This is not a surprising case. Doing classic, day in and day out, over and over again, people will get BORED of doing the same thing constantly. If no change happens, the game/version will die. It’s the same thing that happened to OSRS, where it was released in the era of 2007. Players enjoyed it, but then got bored of doing the same shit.
The moment Nightmare Zone came out is when “OSRS” or “RS07” was no more. It became the equivalent of a private server. Classic WoW is following the same pattern.
All Blizzard had to do was keep the original re release of classic in the Wrath Era but they couldn't help themselves.

Alliance getting rend was unironically a good thing. Horde is dying while Alliance is thriving and rend pops were getting more rare every day.
Personally it doesn't bother me, but on principle Blizz should not change classic. If that's what they wanted to do, they need to pull the trigger on "Classic Plus" and align themselves with player expectations and past promises.
They deleted all my classic characters and now they are on cataclysm and half of them require name changes.....

I think people are stupid to turn down the world buff equivency; so many alliance would just have priest alts accounts with a clicker to help them get their own buff safely on top of Org. It's not fun gameplay. It's extremely dull. The complaints for druid polearm and chronoboom are extremely valid though.

People are more upset that there’s no fresh classic servers and no tbc/wrath servers. If blizzard added a fresh classic server or tbc with these updated changes, doubt there would be any complaining.
Because people are afraid of a "snowball" effect which, imo, is fair. Oh sure, it's a fee small changes now, but what about a few months from now when they make a few more, and then a few more? And before long there's enough changes that Classic Era doesn't feel much like Clasic anymore.

Classic era is not classic classic anymore, since ALWAYS. Get over it. It's just a quality of life change, a balance for people who plays PvE.

If they are going to make changes, I want to see the Calendar being added. Setting up guild events or raids there and not being restricted to third party programs would be very nice.
I can testify that Druids were allowed pole-arms at release of WoW and they took it away before BWL, maybe even before Onyxia. Endgame for Druids was either Bear tank or Resto, all the pole-arms were either Hunter centric or vendor trash after that point
Original guild UI was an absolutely pure garbage. Replacing it with new one is just a bonus. It's crazy just how much some people are willing to moan about keeping bad stuff in game with 0 effect other than being annoying for sake of nostalgia. other changes, fair, that's changes to actual gameplay experience, that's bad. But moaning about UI change? meh. The game doesn't even play like original classic since it runs on new, updated engine of wow. Stuff behaves differently. Where are people complaining about the fact it's not original vanilla client? Yeah..

I think everyones expectations are so fuckin high nowadays that no one can ever be happy and enjoy much of anything. Channels THRIVE off of bad news and its getting old. not saying blizzard hasnt fucked up ... they have for sure but there will always be unhappy people that seem like they just want to be mad regardless.

Pretty dumb take imo. The whole premise of these realms were established BY BLIZZARD as realms that would not see changes and not be touched. They sold 15$ character clone and transfers for this precise reason. And now they are going back on that. (Let's not ignore that you still need a sub to play on these realms)

Turtle WoW feels like vanilla. Blizzard does not want classic to feel like vanilla or the original xpacs that classic is supposed to be.
There is a reason why they made season of discovery and we have classic era realms.
No, no, the entire community is freaking out because they got a new Guild UI, Druids are allowed to use Polearms, and the alliance doesn't need to go to orgimar and do mind control things to get a world buff. Everyone talking about this brings up Turtle WoW and going to it. Turtle WoW goes much further than Blizzard did... and it feels like vanilla? No it doesn't.
It honestly just seems that people want a reason to be upset with Blizzard and are taking any reason to do so, but anyone else touching their game is fine. WoW in unreal 5 cheer! Druid using polearms this game is unplayable garbage now.
@@Mystie689 turtle wow has a cash shop arguably worse than blizzard. I mean you can by AH, Bank, and vendor pets. You can buy mounts on the shop and even skins and full "illusions" to make your chara look like a furblog or other nonsense.
@@anthonyduncan8676 Turtle WoW operates off of donations and that cash shop blizzard has people pay monthly they don't need the cash shop there's a big difference and yeah those items are all lore friendly if i'm not mistaken.

I never get tired of seeing how the wow community gets so rilled up for nothing, all this fuzz is literally what ''storm in a glass of water'' means, like omg.. blizz made so druids can use polearms.. so what ? is the most useless weapon type in classic anyway, remember ''Vendorstrike'' ? like most polearms in the game, not worth to use it, and if u are using a polearm, you probably dont have anything better to use in its place.
Now.. the ally buff, thats kind of big, maybe something meant for SoD, but since its the same client got into classic by mistake ? maybe all those changes are meant for SoD and it was all a mistake, who knows, but i still think the same, even if it isnt the case, we have much bigger problems in the game to get mad about something like this, btw this is coming from someone who did played and enjoyed a warrior 1-60 in classic, one of the best leveling experiences in mmos that i ever had (even if it was slow af), im all in for turtle wow unreal engine project too, looks really awesome, also.. i know what nixxiom means like ''classic andys dont want changes, they want what we had in 2019'' i get that, you have something you like and enjoy even with its flaws, but why complain when 1. the changes its meaningless such as polearms for druids or 2. new guild ui (which shows more information about members and its systematically better) ? seems like some poeple just love to complain about anything they can get an excuse to complain about, but then again.. its my take/opinion on the matter, i would bet it is something for SoD, but we'll see soon enough and if it isnt... people who dont like it can play turtle wow instead, everybody wins haha.

These "changes" are leaking over to Era servers from the SOD/Cata clients. Take druid polearm for instance that's from Cata and now since people learned it Blizz is like oh well I guess this is a feature now.
Runes from SOD are also leaking over with Paladins learning divine steed and warlocks having instant non channeled rain of fire.
If they are to make any changes at all to classic era they should implement some variation of the OSRS polling system rather than calling new bugs "changes"

@@jakecarroll5 Why its a bad take ? i do understand classic players, retail wow changed in a way its not the same game i fell in love with over a decade ago, i complain about the changes i dont like, suggest improvements and all, but are they happening ? No. I AM tired of seeing people over react to some thing like this and not to things like lack of balancing in the game, polishment or other actual important stuff for the game, so it can improve and keep growing. But this level of reaction for something so small as the things nixxiom noted in the video are just a joke to complain about, to get rilled up about and make a petition, players should be making a petition for classic +, or to blizzard hire the guys from the turtle wow team to make classic + and maybe even handle classic servers, they clearly know what they're doing there, maybe you didnt get my point and got offended because you're one of the big fans of classic, a ''classic andy'' how people say, but i always wish for the best for wow, always did and always will, what im saying here is that people and putting their demands and worries on the wrong topic.
Druids using polearms is fine probably one of the dumbest reasons to complain in a version of the game where everyone playing actively is bis already

The best thing about private servers is that there are no or very very few bots. There are some projects that release a serverwide announcement when an account is banned. Ascension is fantastic. Turtle WoW has some discord/reddit mod-type mods. I really wish Vanilla Plus picked up, but sadly so few people play it.
the most upsetting thing about this is that blizzard has Season of Discovery exactly for this stuff. Makes no sense at all
