I stopped actively following K-pop after the Red Velvet/Blackpink/Twice generation. I know about Itzy and Everglow, but I wouldn't be able to identify them. I am vaguely aware of Le Sserafim and New Jeans (because of the controversies), but I don't know any of the members and I cannot identify any of their songs. Annoyed that Apink, Oh My Girl and Cherry Bullet got left out.
But the kids probably cannot identify Kara, Rainbow, Secret, T-ara, Fiestar or maybe even 2NE1. They need to get off my lawn.

Wasn't fiestar the group BTS replaced? Or maybe I'm thinking of something else....

​@@alrose8870No. Fiestar was a girl group under Loen. It won a rookie award, then didn't go anywhere, but it did get a second burst of popularity after member Yezi appeared on Unpretty Rapstar 2.

@@hanng1242 oh ok. I saw the name fiestar, and thought they were the problematic group that preceded BTS, guess they are just some group. Naturally new groups gain the attention of fans the most.
Very few Older groups still hold relevance today. BTS is the most notable. They still top charts even during military hiatus. Lol. Also, Twice is still alive.... for some reason. And Red velvet is also still alive, and that is even more surprising.
I also heard Blackpink AND 2ne1 will make a comeback next year, before Blackpink doing yet another world tour. The BTS members will all finish service next year and pretty much do the same. Meanwhile.... The hundreds of new kpop groups will be Thanos snapped from existence. Hahaha.
