This has been a fascinating find - I'm quite new to Djembe, bought a fully synthetic Mienl a couple of months ago when I joined a drum circle. In the lockdown I've had to improvise at home (and I have close neighbours so sound is an issue) so found plenty of stuff on TH-cam to tap along to - mainly deep jazzy house. I also have a little foot tambourine which is just essential for pulsing out the groove and have already discovered many of the great sounds to be made on a djembe - although my playing is avery long way off this standard! It's given me massive hope. The djembe is indeed king of drums and suitable for all types of music. Thank you so much for posting.
Just bought a Meinl Headliner Djembe for my birthday. Gonna use for rythms in songwriting. This is by far the most versatile usage of the drum I've seen. Awesome video Chief Shaman Green Man.
You are fantastic! Just the type of rhythm I am looking to learn. Wish you showed this as well as a tutorial here ... ?? Thanks man, Lisa ... a begnner
Really Good display of hand diddles, Dave. I'm subscribing. I am a novice at percussion, more a trap drummer performing percussion with a funk band, this is right up my alley, so to speak
David D I know the bass is what makes a djembe special to hold the bottom. Bass hit on djembe is flat hand,, conga is cupped hand or heel of palm. Different techniques. Need to left djembe for solid deep bass.
WHATS THE DIFF BETWEEN A KEY TUNED DJEMBE AND A CONGA?......LOVE THE FOOT TAMB...ME TOO.......MOSTLY IT DOESNT HAVE TO LOW RUMBLE BASS THAT MY DJMEBE(FROM GUINEA) HAS.....
The size and the shape of the instrument are different. A djembe is made to be hold between your legs and therefore is smaller and has a thiner part on its base. A conga is made to be played while standing up, it's bigger and more... ovoid. Hope this helped.
Sorry and no offence, but Suedama made some wrong points. Just search "djembe and conga", and click on a video by a channel called "Howcast". They explain the differences better.
i find this really impressive have u got any recomendations for any one who posts any good vidios about djembe i recently picked a djembe up many thanks
Djembe sounds great. I think the tambourine was too loud for its auxiliary role in the video. I would recommend that you use something softer such as the LP188 foot tambourine to just mark the beat. By the way, you've got an amazing groove.
Yes you are amazing but I don't see how this is in any way a Djembe Lesson as it says in your description. How could a beginning djembe player learn how to play this just by watching you jam out?
You sure make it look easy... guess a little rhythm still goes a long way if possessed... I'm thinking this might be something I'd like to try to take my mind off cigarettes for a minute...
He has to breathe! African drummers like me have to breathe a lot when playing these drums! They require a lot of muscle to play! I've experienced how much energy it takes to beat the drum so I know how much breathing you have to do! He stopped breathing hard so he can breathe softer during the rest of the video.

Nice mannnnn, i saved this to watch and learn, thankz. funky
Love percussions man! good job!
I play guitar and violin. I just got one of these drums yesterday and I think it's amazing how it's only one drum that makes so many different tones.
This a great tempo to play along with. Nice timing ! GREAT JOB....

Foda bagarai!
hi! very nice playing. What is the reference for this djembe please? it sounds very nice!!!
How are those two floating arms playing the djembe?
It's not enough to be curious, you have to know music. something you still have to learn

Slow it down to 50% or more and spend time on a given section.
Hi Shawn! You are so good in playing that djembe. Though where can I buy the same djembe ? Thank you! :)
Ray Justin Reyes I just got one of off Etsy handmade and it’s perfect size (I’m 6/1 1/2 height
@@NinjaFromMixedLand nice! Thanks for sharing this!
Awesome groove! Have you studied Malinke rhythms as well?
lovely jam... which model of Djembe are you playing in this video?
You sure make it look easy... guess a little rhythm still goes a long way if possessed...
I'm thinking this might be something I'd like to try to take my mind off cigarettes for a minute...
David,
what is the exact model Meinl Djembe you are playing in this video? I really like the sound man...well done!
The playing is fantastic. But the Chroma Keying was a bit weird~
♥!
Why does my djembe have much much more resonance than all the others I hear? It's got like a lot of bass but good pops in it too. Tune tighter?
Same problem. Remo Skyndeep Djembe
Good job. Still a lot of tension that you could remove to improve the groove. (Were you actually breathing when you played?)

CAn you teach me a little bit? Where are you?
ho-ly-crap.....amazing
Interesting. Do you play on traditional djembes?
how do you do that i used to play djembe
