I've been out of RVing for 20+ years but this is what we used to do. When in a site with water and sewer, we would not be hooked up all the time. We would fill our water tank and run off of that so no outside hose to freeze. On the sewer, we would use our tanks and then empty when we were leaving. That was mainly not for freezing but rather for making sure the tank empties correctly. If you keep you hose attached and open, the liquids will trickle out but the solids can accumulate in either the tank or the hose. We preferred to let it fill the tank and then flush all at once. This cleans the tank and the hose better. Hope that makes sense.

Hey man, it totally makes sense. If we stay in freezing temperatures that's what we'll have to do. We're still not sure our trailer is "made for" the cold lol at first we were unsure if our tanks or pipes would freeze without us going in to get things insulated, etc. We're still trying to find out if we could travel in 0 degrees if we wanted to. But really, we plan to avoid freezing temperatures all together and go near Texas. Thanks for your help.

The random climates while traveling is why i always try to keep my fresh tank full(60 gallons) or at least half on drives, I do boondocking alot more though than say campgrounds. I tow with a tahoe that has the same tow rating as that Escalade too, It feels it going up steep hills. But if a planned hilly route, i may only fill the fresh tank to 1/4(15gallons). It's also handy for those random bathroom pit stops in the middle of nowhere or unplanned stops such as getting caught in a winter road closure for a night. So you have water to use the bathroom. Or i keep 8 1 gallon water jugs onboard too, to use for the toilet or drinking incase the pump fails or major issues arise till things can be fixed.

Be careful climbing on log piles. If they roll you will get crushed and die. This is especially true of the log piles on the beach, they are unstable and every year people die climbing on them.

good job guys. Although. Very important to keep your sewage hose and freshwater hose separate. Best to keep your fresh water supply hose in closed tub/container , and far away from your sewer hose. Any contamination is no good. Be safe out there. Oh and congratulations on the backing without getting a divorce in the process.

lol pisser, you need heat pads for the tanks and water heated hose for cold weather camping. Not sure if your camper's belly has a cover to close out the entire bottom- i would suggest to get one on there. Stops critters from calling your camper home keeps camper warmer from cold wind running below. But if you were to winter camp often, I'd invest in a skirt. I mean thats if you remain some where below freezing temps for a few days often enough.

We're getting a heated hose now and will better insulate the tanks for when we head to colder places. A suggestion: be careful talking with other campers while setting up or especially taking down! Learn from one of my mistakes..talking caused me to not double/triple check around before pulling out..oops forgot to lift one stabilizer..realized very quickly. Safe travels

Haha it's not the greatest, somewhere around 12...our 2004 escalade is a real gas guzzler. I'd definitely recommend a truck that's better on gas, and that's diesel...
