@@carrieannkouri2151 It is cruel to mislead people. Figure skating, gymnastics, violin, ballet are not attainable for a 60y old beginner.

Hi there! I am in my 50’s, and also played the violin for a short time as a child. During my childhood I lived in a community that was primarily POC, and was discouraged by my peers who didn’t understand my interest in the violin. Unfortunately, I gave in to peer pressure and stopped playing. My mother was heart broken, but didn’t want to force me to continue playing. I’ve regretted that decision ever since, but believed my window of opportunity had passed. Recently, I discovered Trala from a recent Google search for adult violin lessons. I have now have discovered people like myself with similar stories. You have no idea how happy and encouraged I am to hear your story! Thank you so much!

Hi Tree, Loved your video. You're such a beautiful soul! I've just entered my second week of learning the violin and am absolutely loving it. I'll be 80 in three weeks time. If you and I can do it, I'm sure everyone can do it! John (Australia)

Beautiful! I am 70 and just started playing the violin. You are right about losing yourself in the music. Your life experience mirrors mine and you touched my heart. I am sure you will play the Disturbed song, since you have the grit to face life head on!!! God bless, lady....

I started at the age of 68. Now at 74 I play violin 1 in a light orchestra. You need to put the time in and practice properly. It can be done. Yes I had to learn Alexander technique to help with tension. I passed grade 5 ABRSM. Age is no barrier.

I am 72. I played viola from 4th through 12th grade then stopped. Around 60 I started playing violin in group lessons, but never really relearned to read music. I got confused between violin and viola. I learned I did not like the violin but loved the sound of the viola. I learned more in 3 months of lessons with Trala than in all my other experiences and am back to my former level such as it is, and plan to go further. My teacher is wonderful. My friends are astounded, lol they say, "I didn't know you could play viola!"

I'm 55. I played briefly as a child. I've really been considering picking it up. I would love to learn to play.

I'm 51 and updated my old student violin to a better quality violin 5 months ago. What a difference in sound quality. Raising my kids I forgot how it vibrated my soul. I have so much time now that the kids are grown I can't believe how fast I'm moving forward with it.

I agree ~ I don’t count my age but I know I’m in my 50’s and I recently started to learn to play the violin, more for what it can give me, for example, learning to practice something. But I came here from poetry and realised that it’s art that speaks to us, so that’s why I agree, pick up an instrument, or a paintbrush or a book, bring your artist side out and watch where it will take you ….. it’s magical 🌟

you made the right choice, I myself regret having stopped playing the violin to start again quite late (I'm 15) seeing others who started as children, but seeing this kind of videos gives me courage, I tell myself that some people may have had the courage to pick up an instrument even after years. Violin can give you such emotions once you start to play well, it just take a lot of time, we jst need to keep practicing.

Sure you can learn at 40,50,60 and more. But you will never develop the hand strength and flexibility as you would as a child. Children have far more flexibility in their arms and can do much more. I see kids playing with such an easy motion and clear vibrato at their 4th year of playing. I started playing violin 6 years ago at my 35 years and still can not develope clear smooth vibrato. And the G string is really hard to reach and have a lot of tension in my arm. Sure at age of 50 or more yes you can play pieces in first position and maybe some in third. But anything else will be difficult.
One more thing, it is never too late to begin. If you found the passion in music, pursue it and never give up.

A little less conversation and little more action on the violin please. Worst case is that people flee from this video, as they think this is not informative, but a cheap commercial. Backing noise support that feeling, that theres no value at all. zap zap

She cannot play, she iscmentally unhealthy, as you see. It is impossible to learn violin to any reasonable standard at 60.
