I don't know how I missed this video from last year but it is GREAT! Thanks, Soren!

Hi Luanne - if you go a bit back in the time of the videos you find a lot of easier material - the videos are not as hip and flashy as now, but the content is good!
Let me know what you need!

Thank you very much. Do you have any solo recommendations? Are you working on playing solos by heart?

That's awesome you played with Jens. So how old were you when you bought a sax?

Jens and I started playing jazz together in i think 1996 and we never stopped, so we go way back. He inspired me every week.
I started late playing saxophone. I think around 19y.o. and was accepted on the conservatory education when I was 22 y.o.

@@sorenballegaardmusic that's great. Big inspiration. I'm 38 and started clarinet this year, it's going awesome, constantly improving.

hey Soren, great video! little question. As an alto player: should I try to do some a alto solo's first and skip tenor solo's ? I can do all he notes on alto I guess, but I mean with trying to get the sound and fingerings right?

This is a really great question. Thank you for asking. I would definitely find alto solos. Paul Desmond has really great solos which are not too crazy. Also Charlie Parker Cool Blues is very much worth checking out.
Maybe even the Charlie Parker solo on Now's the Time.
What you have probably need is a slow down program like Transcribe, then many things are possible to play along with.
Definitely check Alto solos on alto and tenor solos on tenor.

Dexters solo , big on articulation of notes which as a beginner jazz player I find easy to follow, also hank mobly, but when these guys start playing 16th and 32 note articulation I am completely lost,

Hi John, would just leave the 16th and 32nds out. Focus on great 8th note lines, rhythm, articulation and timing.
Did you already join the fb Patreon groep, then we can discuss the important 8th note lines.
And did you find the blue bossa manual on Patreon?
