  • I upgrade the speakers on my Citroen C5, replacing blown mess with a pair of Alpines - which aren't entirely problem free.

    Last year i changed the front and rear speakers in my wife's 2005 Xsara Picasso and they looked the same, bought a Pioneer kit from Amazon that fit. I also changed the head unit for one from Pioneer, had to get a interface for the radio to keep the functions on the steering wheel working.
    The difference in sound quality is huge and as a added bonus she now has hands free via Bluetooth and the ability to play music and radio from the phone.

    I've a 2003 Citroen C5 with 300,000 miles with original speakers. Check the sound controls, bass/ treble etc and loudness plus it has automatic volume control that you might want to check is on, the faster the car goes the volume will go up to compensate for increased road noise. And there is a TH-cam vid on how to repair C5 estate boot hinges the same problem you have. But I've learned with all estate cars is don't leave the boot open longer than needed, you see people at camp sites and hot days with those big boot door being left open. There is alot of pressure on those skinny struts and hinges in the C5s case.

    Had the rear windscreen problem on my C4. Found the pump was buzzing for both front and rear. Had a look at washer bottle and found lower pipe is to the rear window. A fiddly job to get to it but it was full of calcium sediment. Flushed bottle and forced air through pipe and reconnected and it worked perfect until I sold the car 35000 miles later. If no buzzing or sediment then impeller is broken and this will blow the fuse. Best bet then us second hand bottle as it's part of the bottle.

    Many years ago, I owned and enjoyed a Citroen BX estate car - and if the rear washer was operated when temperatures were below freezing,
    the pipe/tube pushed itself off and squirted out behind the tailgate lining. Perhaps something similar might have happened on your rather lovely C5.

    • @multislipful
      @multislipful 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The water froze on the outside nozzle end - then, when the washer was actuated, the tube would be forced off the connection because of hydraulic pressure against the pipe being ‘blocked’ with ice..

    You may also be able to open the tailgate glass with a long press on one of the keyfob buttons (assuming that still works). Its a seemingly little known feature on the Peugeot 206 SW so probably works on other PSA cars of the era.

    Thanks for another great video, Ian. The C5 seems to be working out for all of the purposes for which it is needed. Is the rear wiper jet, or the hose to the rear wiper, blocked and the screenwash is taking the path of least resistance to the front jets? If you can get some wire into the end and poke around it might fix it. The washer reservoir might be gunged up with old screenwash that's turned to gel. On my car I ran the washer down to empty then put in a small amount of very warm water with bicarbonate of soda, kept running the wash with the rear nozzle disconnected, and it unblocked, loads of thick gel coming out. Just a thought, although French electrics may be to blame...

    Never seen Mr HubNut look so tired, I'm sure you'll be back up to speed soon.

    I plan on wearing my Triangle Of Doom t-shirt on stage with my band, if anyone asks I'll tell them it's a three piece prog rock band 🤣

    For a second I thought you’d been sponsored by Lancaster insurance again!

    The washer pump on the C5 is the same one for front washer and rear washer. From memory I think it reverses the poles (+ and -) depending on if you operate the front washer or back one & the tubes to each go to the same pump. The flow is controlled in the pump by valves, when the valves get old they don’t work properly and flow goes to the wrong end of the car. My one broke and always did the rear. Pump is under the wing unfortunately and not a quick job to do. At that time it was a main dealer part only but may be available OEM now.

      Yes, thought it was that type. As it is doing the front correctly, I'm tempted to leave it...

    I'm guessing the little hubnutters have had some input on improving the bangin tunes. ( I am also down with the kids)😆
