On his quest to track down this group, he meets Alex, a plucky young adventurer very new to the world of Minecraft, and he has to teach her the ways of the world while tracking down the people that took everything from him… Idk, just an idea, and probably significantly better than whatever the hell they unveiled here (Oh yeah, and it would be animated too)
My exact thoughts it could've been survival horror slapstick comedy. He builds a shelter, wakes up at night, looks out and moss monster blows up - horror - he wakes up back on the beach, goes to where his shelter was and there's a crater, the stick that impaled him is in the group with no blood - Mystery - he goes inland, and happens upon unnatural boundary between desert and tundra and going back and forth in disbelief - comedy

I really love the look of the mob visuals against the background, actual humans do look quite bad against the background. But as the movie is called “A Minecraft Movie” it could just be a parody of itself

the mob design is FINE god damn it! it's the PLOT that you can easily gather from looking at the trailer. The plot is, it's basically just jumanji but minecraft. It'd be fine if jumanji hadn't been done before 50 million times but you know.

Meaning that there could be spin offs and that would make since because in Minecraft there are no main worlds. So it could be explained by saying its not the same world and get spin offs and other movies.
I think it looks so horrible it's fun. I'm down for the graphics. What does concern me however, the cast is quite questionable. For some reason, I feel like they'll be either incredibly bland, or incredibly annoying and cringe (except for Steve and that Momoa character of course)

Kinda like the 2 Jumanji movies which happens to have Jack Black.
There's a lot of things that Story Mode did wrong, but one of the big ones was that it just took itself way too seriously. I agree this movie would benefit from avoiding that path.
I think that other then the live-action actors, the film looks absolutely beutifal, even the mobs. They didn't try to circle-ify anything, which I think was the right decision. However, I am really worried for the story. I think the best story would be something that realizes on the classic monecraft elements liek villagers, 1st night, the nether and end, but it looks like they're going for a more saving the world from piglins kinda thing

He meets natives who are no normal humans just very culturally strange and speaking gibberish. It would make for a TV show if it was taken slow and build up the mystery and the world and was smart about Minecraft lore and mechanics. Alex could also be there, another castaway whom steve meets in one of the villages doing the same thing he does, maybe she is better than him in mastering modern game mechanics while be is the down to earth early Minecraft player. It should have comedy, horror, survivalism, romance, adventure and mystery. But executives care about aesthetic not feeling, it's a pixel game for children to them, but for me back when i started playing it was Castaway symulator.

Yea if this movie was made by any other animated studio instead of Warner Bros (apart from Disney) then it would probably have a better reputation. Like you said, Dreamworks could probably make a better Minecraft movie than this. I can guarantee that Paramount could even do it better especially knowing the success of the soon-to-be Sonic movie trilogy. The Minecraft would still need to be animated tho. As for Sony, while the Angry Birds movies may not have been amazing, I do see that Sony could have made the Minecraft movie work as well. Heck, even Illumination could easily make a far better Minecraft movie than Warner Bros.

But I can't get over how wonky the live action actors look. Like, I feel that if they did what the MC trailers do and stick with the blocky models, it'd look better. And then there's 'Steve'. Am I the only one who just sees Jack Black in a blue shirt? Like, the 'I am Steve' line reminds me of when Black was doing his FNaF Tiktoks for the fun of it or that this was a CAMEO request. I don't know. I feel it could have been better than the reskinned 2017 Jumanji.
