    Didnt get the shading effect on the sidewall of the tyre.

    Hey, i wanted to ask is there a way to solve the geometry count in a tire like this, i made a tire and it had 20k triangles which is not good for game engines, i tried baking the normal and set an AO but still looks ugly, what is the right way to do it?

    • @NaturalArtFreak
      @NaturalArtFreak  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I would normally model out the significant treads on the tire and bake the rest as normals... Should reduce the poly count greatly...

      @@NaturalArtFreak i thought of this, but for an off road tire like this it will end up looking bad, and thanks man

      @@foxdutyxd7543 I guess so, but I'll reply to this message if I do make one, as I make tire textures that don't require lots of geometry.

    I am not getting same result as you with quadratic sphere under gradient texture. I used blender 2.8,2.1 and 2.82 but the whole thing was still white. I am missing something else that wasn't captured in the video?

    • @acadgatsu
      @acadgatsu 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I had this problem until I centered the tire's origin. Good luck.

      @@i-elotechsystems33 also your values might be different cause you have a different tire than mine. work around your values.

      @@NaturalArtFreak I have the same problem but setting the orientation to the tyre's center and also changing values of the color ramp didn't fix it. The tyre is all white as soon as I hook it up to the quadratic sphere/gradient texture of the texture coordinate's object output...

    Even if I followed the instructions, the tires still look wrong. Since we are now on 2.82,
    and I'm guessing there has been changes to the nodes, I consider this outdated. :(

    • @acadgatsu
      @acadgatsu 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      FWIW, got it to work but had to go back a few times and my ramps were different because I tried it on a different tire

    Same as @andrewfulton888. Doesn't work for blender 4.2.1, apparently.

      Guys I had the same problem, use Quadratic Gradient texture instead of Quadratic Sphere

    • @jaredm6406
      @jaredm6406 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For me it was a scale issue. Instead of running the quadratic sphere texture gradient directly to object, run it through the mapping node first and decrease your scale. I had to bring it down to 25% scale before I saw the gradient.

    tutorial is great, approach is not. You are adding things in between from looking at an already made setup and not starting from zero point and then leading to finals. This confuses alot.

    • @NaturalArtFreak
      @NaturalArtFreak  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry about that, it was so tedious to memorize I had to look at my finished set up mostly... But I'll have a new one soon on the tire...
