Actors that genuinely can play their instruments, that added so much to this film. Definitely in my top 5, and still with a bullet. Also maybe trivial to know that Shearer (bass) is the voice of Principal Skinner, Kent Brockman, Mr. Burns, Waylon Smithers, Ned Flanders, Reverend Lovejoy in the Simpsons. A must see for every (rock) musician...
Must be amazing to start a Comedy group thats a mock band and then wind up touring around the world and playing some of the greatest Venues in the world.
Been depressed today. This really helps. If you can't smile at Spinal Tap, I I don't know what else on earth can help. Zappa and Alice Cooper. Let's start there.
This guy's are real and great musicians, as well as really good actors and comedians. Chuck from Better Caul Saul is the lead singer and guitarrist. Extraordinary talented men.
Starting off with a double neck bass in open E on C.O.D....rotflmao!!!! Like the fact that the guitars were playing harmonics with each other instead of chugging along, and the harmony vocals were awesome!!
"gotta buy groceries before you can cook".... My first reaction is this is a metaphor, but then again, knowing them, they could very well just be serious about it haha
I've seen hundreds of concerts and I tell people I've even seen Spinal Tap and they're fictional. They're living proof they can exist beyond the film. If anyone has a chance to see them, I strongly encourage you to bust your ass to get tickets because it's a show you'll never forget!
First I thought it was just like part of the show like pyrogenics or something , but the DRUMMER ACTUALLY BLEW UP , dude there was like blood n gutz everywhere ! What an awesome freaking show !!!!
Also Ed Begley Jr. who played a lawyer of a competing law firm on Better Call Saul was a drummer in an earlier version of Spinal Tap. Unfortunately his character blew up. Here is a u tube clip of both actors together... th-cam.com/video/I-BYzaDwNoE/w-d-xo.html
Half the tour, according to Ric Parnell. He didn't even get a thank you from Spinal Tap, and got paid the same as the bus driver. That's gratitude for you.
Honestly, the studio cut of "Cash on Delivery" is probably one of the better mainstream metal tunes recorded in 1992. They found ways to make their stuff awful, but they also got sneaky (unintentionally?) good. Maybe, it's a thin line between dreadful and decent.
I was there. Still got my ticket and an un-torn one that I got for my mate then he couldn't make it. Spent about 10 minutes trying to flog it outside and gave up.
Truly, one of the greatest metal bands. If not for bad fortune--ill-management, bad luck with buses and drummers, political oppression, misunderstanding, and a complete lack of musicianship, tune-carrying, charm, or sense of humor--the rest of metal history in the 70s might be a footnote. Hawkwind should have _opened_ for Spinal Tap. Alas.
The double-necked rig that is two identical basses always kills me.
Ive wanted to build one for years!
One of the most influential groups of their day. That they're not yet in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame is an affront to all music.
Seriously. They paved the way for all the greats. 80's rock can thank Spinal Tap for defining an era
@@JagerFrostTroll Them and the Rutles. Two of the greatest contributors to music culture. It's hard to overstate both groups' significance.
hahaha - even as mocking metal they are better than all of it
Chuck McGill's crazy 80s years. Who knew he'd go on to become such an established attorney with the prestigious firm, Hamlin Hamlin & McGill.
Do you think this contributed to his hyper sensitivity to electricity?
Without Tap there would barely even BE Rock History! They are that good.
I love that they have more spare picks on their mike stands than all bands in rock history combined.
Derek Smalls has the most picks on his mic and he doesn’t even use picks.
For a mock group, they are better than a lot of others bands !
Bad news the Boston gig's been cancelled. It's not a big college town anyway.

Me, too! This movie is among my top five favorite rock mockumentaries of 1984. Well, top eight anyway. Top 15, definitely.
And Michael McKean is Chuck in the show Better Call Saul
Heck, Bart & Millhouse went to a Spinal Tap concert in season 3
Apparently Tap once opened for Iron Butterfly. And the circle is complete. If it's true.
@@Punttipate62and before this, was Lenny in Laverne and Shirley
I was there. Balcony seat on the left side of stage. It was actually one of the best gigs I've ever been to.

Zappa and Alice Cooper.
Let's start there.
The vocals sound so fucking good, very heavy, all the band is great
I've been rendered speechless...the longest running joke in movie or rock history...
I'm so glad that the drummer survived that gig this time ;-)
How can anyone not love this band! :D
Get the hell outta here
A few years ago I got to see Guest, McKean and Shearer on their "Unwigged and Unplugged" Tour. They were so good! Love these guys.
"You have to know how to do it right, before you can do it WRONG!" I love the best of 80s metal, but this is a SCREAM!
This guy's are real and great musicians, as well as really good actors and comedians. Chuck from Better Caul Saul is the lead singer and guitarrist. Extraordinary talented men.
i just love how the mic stand is covered with picks :D
Better than many "Real" bands!
Oh god that BASS😫
It's a reptile lol
I should've waited until the second one, cheezuz
Lets face is. without Spinal Tap there would be actually no music in the world.
Starting off with a double neck bass in open E on C.O.D....rotflmao!!!! Like the fact that the guitars were playing harmonics with each other instead of chugging along, and the harmony vocals were awesome!!
Principal Skinner fucking ROCKS the bass!
The best rock band EVER!! bar none long live the tap.
Big Bottoms!
I love the double arm basse used in a single string
Gawd, I forgot how much this song rocked!!!
still amazing today even after so many years. All the rock stereotypes are more truer now than ever
These are the finest British guitar god impersonators I have ever heard.
The ultimate triple headliner of; Spinal Tap, Strange Fruit, and Bad News. They could call it, The 'Does Comedy Belong In Music' tour.
Don't know Strange Fruit, but I'd add Tenacious D to that bill.
It's pure genius, if a genuine mistake is made at any point, it's just part of the act and roll with it.
For a band that is intended as a spoof, these guys are pretty legit. Ironic
Love that Musicman guitar. Love this band. Always makes me smile. Good music too!!!
I can't get this riff out of my head!!! Please don't make it stop!!!
You rocked me, alright!
The Greatest Band of All Time!
I am so jealous. I have loved Spinal tap for as long as they have been around!!
the DVD is called the return of Spinal Tap ... Live at the royal Albert Hall
Priceless.
"gotta buy groceries before you can cook".... My first reaction is this is a metaphor, but then again, knowing them, they could very well just be serious about it haha
Sad when a mock band is better than most real ones.
"Most"? Phew.
GhostOfRhurValley. The Monkees and then SpinalTap⚡ and now ................justin beiber.😠
They're not, but okay.

Man this concert did rock for the first 2 hours. Then the next 2 hours the concert rock some more( so my husband said at the time).
First I thought it was just like part of the show like pyrogenics or something , but the DRUMMER ACTUALLY BLEW UP , dude there was like blood n gutz everywhere ! What an awesome freaking show !!!!
Gotta love the Tap😁😁😁😁
Both Spinal Tap and the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band belong in the RnR HOF for their comedic contributions to music.
When parodies are better gifted than their targets means they are in the wrong business --- both
Spinal Tap is awesome, but to say they are better than Iron Maiden is preposterous
@@michaelmoore1697 They are, however, better than Motley Crue
This is AWESOME. They even got the vocal harmonies in C.O.D. just perfect (overdubs? Who cares)!!
Did you notice what a natural he became on Karaoke Night?
Damn straight Toma.Nice guitars for a mock band!Yeesh!
Love the intro haha XD Spinal Tap rules!
Mr. Burns rocking the bass guitar and vocals!😅
Thank you.
Truly glorious!
Not only have they toured the world, they've toured elsewhere.
Just noticed...the lead vocalist is Saul's brother in Better Call Saul. I knew the bassplayer is Mr. Burns in the Simpsons.
The lead guitarist is the director of the movies they star in as well.
I'm still not used to the fact that he's Lenny from Laverne and Shirley, lol.

@RockHailand There was no problem, it was all part of the show. Thats Spinal Tap!!!
Wish I'd seen them live. I'm certainly old enough but I was always working.
This is good stuff.
I wish my entrances were that epic
Ric Shrimpton. Identical twin brother of the late Mick Shrimpton. He played the gig with his leg in a cast.
currently in the... "here they are NOW category "
i think the fact i unironically like this band even though i havent seen the movies or whatever shows how bad my taste in music can get
at my wedding, i'm gonna serenade my wife with this.
What humorless swine, bereft of culture, wouldn't like Spinal Tap? Clearly the all-time greatest band in history. No doubt about it. ;)
Word
Boris Johnson?
The best part is that they’re intentionally bad...that says a lot about their talent
And loud.
spinal tarp is even better, saw them at the local air force base one time
Trop la classe Spinal Tap !!
nigels spiderman tights!wicked good
Spinal Tap RULES!!!! FOR SURE!
this song is pretty awesome
Is it wrong to have a crush on Nigel Tufnell in that lycra bodysuit?!

It's such a fine line between clever and stupid.
@@djay6651 Thankfully Tap crosses that line both ways with impunity.
All their music hurts a little
Dreadful and decent is most hair metal from the 80's.

Double necked bass guitar... nice!
I had no idea Saul Goodman's brother was David St Hubbins. What a character Michael Mckean is.
1216 One after Magna Carta.
Yeah!! Los medulas!!!
Best parody band evar.
Nigel's fingers go up to 11!
He hides it really well - if he didn't, Inigo Montoya might go after him again.
And he borrowed one of Eddie Van Halen's guitars.
@@thexalon He found him anyway!
Kiss' entire back catalogue can be summed up by the song Tonight I'm going to rock you tonight by Spinal Tapp. Which is better.
great song to open with

When a mock band is better than today's music
loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove it
The blonde singer is kind Of Greg Allman the guitarist starts as Ace Frehley then turns into Jeff beck the bass is geezer butler🤣
Little known fact: David St. Hubbin's real name was Charles McGill Jr. In later life he became a successful lawyer.

Fake, the drummer didn't die.

Cyrus' guitar and lift. That's actually their 109 drummer. The rest exploded or drowned or disapeared under mysterious circumstances.😨

He has to stay alive for if David Lee Roth tours.
