This was very very helpful except for one small but fundamental detail. I installed the battery, closed the pc and started it up. Showed 100% but when I removed the power it shut down. Nearly gave up!! I then had one final thought. I realised I had connected the motherboard connector the wrong way around. It felt secured but it was wrong. When I reversed to be correct it worked perfectly (of course). It would be worth reiterating to ensure that the motherboard connector is reconnected the correct way - red wires on the right!!
