    I sleep whenever I want by using an eye covering goggles. Best one has a bar on the bottom as photons tend to get in from the bottom. Use it home or on plane, etc.

    I have been doing the auto-life ( car living ) thing for the most part since the early 1980's.
    Over the years I have purchased small pieces of land in a few different states so I have a place to hibernate when I'm feeling lazy.
    Just an acre or so with nothing there. Just me and the trees.
    I do the work/ travel/ Van life thing most of the time so I can be lazy part of the time.

    I'm a part-timer when I can get away and your routine is right on. Thanks for sharing.

      Hey that’s awesome and thanks! I think a routine is area specific for sure!

    This was so interesting ! Thanks for sharing. I need to go back to your past videos to see what kind of work you mention doing in this video. You are proving that a person can live well while also living very frugally. Love it!

      Thanks so much and yes… it’s the way I can save up all year to go on my backpacking and road trip adventures… where I live the rent prices are insane. Thanks for watching!

    You seem to have everything you need without a lot of "build out" in your car. I think that staying close to stores, restrooms, restaurants, libraries and other "cool off" places is key to protecting your health in this kind of heat. I would be one to be visiting different locations throughout the day in order to stay cool. Leisurely grocery shopping, reading books or using the computer in the library, visiting the gym or "Y" (with a pool!), visiting my air conditioned storage unit to re-supply my needs, and maybe just going to the mall to people watch would all be key to staying out of the heat for me. When I lost electric for 6 days in the middle of summer in Florida I thought I would die. It affects not only the body but the emotions.
    And it's not an old wives tale that iced tea, melons and cucumbers (which is also a melon) keep us more comfortable in hot weather. Thank you for your video!

      Hey thank you for that and yes there are ways to beat the heat and have a productive enjoyable life living out of your car/van and as you said beat the heat and be comfortable. Im lucky because although we’re having a heat wave now we generally have very good temperate weather here in San Diego. It definitely makes this lifestyle easier and more enjoyable. Thanks so much for the positive message and have a great day!

      @@MarmaladeOutdoors I'm from San Diego, and grew up out by Lemon Grove. I miss it so much, that when I see a video of the area, I almost cry. Thank you for your response.

      I know but I wish…. Maybe their suv?

  • @Jamesgeeee
    @Jamesgeeee 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I’m not sure why you don’t get a 3rd row suv, that’s bigger so you get an extra 15-20 inches of length in back. I’m only 5 foot 9 and did the equinox living. It was def doable, but my next vehicle will be a 3rd row suv, gain that extra room.

      @MarmaladeOutdoors  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s a very good idea… honestly I’m eyeing to move into van life so this car works for me for now. Also I do doordash as my secondary job so having something a bit smaller is better on the mileage… thanks for the great idea and for watching!

      @@MarmaladeOutdoorsI was gonna do a sprinter van or big van, but decided everyone will know your living in there. I just think a suv is the most stealth way to go, be nice to have the extra room of a sprinter, but I wanna park anywhere .. enjoy the content

      @Jamesgeeee I completely agree and why my small SUV can hide in any environment. Cheers.

      I have camped and lived out of vehicles part time for years and I can tell you smaller cars, SUVs and minivans have the best stealth. The class b van is definitely not stealth and has poor fuel economy. I just enjoy the smaller platforms more than the extra space and convenience of the full sized van. Maybe when I am older... The smaller vehicles also keep me flexible and in better physical trim.
      Just something to think about...

    • @Jamesgeeee
      @Jamesgeeee 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@anitasimmons3599 could not agree more. Suv or smaller is just flat out stealth. Would like to have the room of a high top…but I’ve learned I don’t need it

    Question - why keep the front seat in?

    • @MarmaladeOutdoors
      @MarmaladeOutdoors  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@WayWordWay for one when it’s folded down it creates a flat area in the back to sleep. If it was gone there would be a giant depression there. Also don’t want to have to remove it then put it back. Just a personal choice

    • @WayWordWay
      @WayWordWay 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@MarmaladeOutdoors Ah, that kind of makes sense. I have a durango which I've considered making into something I could sleep with and I've always planned to take the front seat out, and put a fridge in there with some shelves on the bottom. I've not done it because I've always thought that it is a good seat to sleep on at the same time.

    • @MarmaladeOutdoors

      @WayWordWay yeah some cars it makes sense and there’s the right space for it but not in my suv.
