I haven't been to Bryce in years. We went in April and had snow. Magical in any season. That's an awesome camp spot. Thanks for taking us along.
My favourite national park i've been to. I think it is even better in the spring with snow.
Wow I don't know how I missed these videos. Thank you they are wonder.❤😊.
❤😊
Wow, what a beautiful place. Nice camping too. Even the drive down was spectacular. Yellowstone has so many fantastic and diverse areas in their back country, you should definitely get a wilderness permit and go back. I wanted to do specimen ridge back in 1981 but there was grizzly bear activity and you had to be in a group of 5 or more and my hiking buddy was not going anywhere near grizzlly bears. We ended up doing Cache Creek to the Lamar River.... I have not made it to Canyon Lands and the mighty 5 yet. Thank you for another amazing video. Thank you again for taking us along on your adventure. ❤😊
Great to see this! thanks for sharing
Zion is best seen late November, early December. Thanks for the video Marmalade.
Bryce Canyon is gob smacking beauty. The queens garden/navajo loop that you did is my fav intro to the park. I’ve done it both directions and I thing the zig zag steps are easier to go down and the gentle climb back up is easier but it depends on the time of day and temps. I’ve ridden a horse 🐎 in Bryce on a horse trail tour. The campground looks fantastic. Best to camp in a vehicle of some sort there cuz they get crazy rain storms year around that turn into flash floods. Mossy cave is a great hike to a cool waterfall . So many hikes into the valley. It’s a very drivable park too. Nearby is Kodachrome Staye park that is amazing too. Much less crowded. Bryce is one of a very few places on earth that has bristle cone pines. At Rainbow point. Nowhere near as old as in the white mountains of CA but still pretty old. Cedar breaks national monument which I heard is what Bryce looked like a million years ago has the bristle cone pine. Utah has so much beauty and wonder. Thanks for posting
Beautiful place. Great tour with videography. 😊
Great campsite. Looked like a fun couple of days. 👌🏻👌🏻
Beautiful place for sure!
Thanks and very unique for sure!
This seems to be a new American trend. Of course there will be strong resistance to this. Laws will be passed. Signs posted. Patrols mounted. Car interior designs will shrink and seats will be welded in. Buying extra bedding will trigger phone calls to the police. All this in the land of the free! Stop voting and have a nice day …
Mike, your going to be very happy with them. Picked up a set over the summer. Used it on Cottonwood pass hike and they didn’t disappoint.
You got some solid points here. I especially like the point that there is a trail community and everyone wants you to succeed. Sometimes it's just sharing the next off-trail waterhole that's not marked and other times it's a complete pep talk as you wring out your sleeping setup and dry your tent on an unplanned wet morning. I think community is the thing that keeps people moving forward and never quitting on a bad day. Even us day hikers get the advantages if we are open to them.
I parked at a car dealership , woke up in the middle of the night to a cop parked really close just chilling out. I just went back to sleep and he was gone when I woke up.
Car dealerships tend to have locking gates now. If my friend was living in the car, they could live with me
@@chaz4471 thank you and very true, I meant more parking on the streets out front of dealership where there tends to be cars from the dealership lined along the roads or at least where I live they are. You’re a good friend…
thanks for sharing!
And this is an improvement how?
1. Lighter weight 2. Durable 3. Machine washable 4. Cheap
@memathews boom! No brainer haha
Yep, I love the round one I got for $1.25. I found it at Dollar Tree. I used a hole punch and put a hole in it to hang it on a hook in my vehicles. Thank you for another great video. Blessings. ❤😊
Oh wow that’s genius.. I haven’t seen one there but I do like my local 99 cent store so I’ll have to keep my eyes open for that lol
How durable are they?
@@jakeva9802 their supposed to be very durable. As I said in the video you can wash them up to 200 times. It’s made of cotton & wood fiber so it’s pretty tough!
My hubby is a Swede! I think I saw these at Costco. Great tip!
@@TheHikingChick1 well then you’re almost obligated to get some lol
I wonder if they make bigger ones 🤔
@@TopazFarmerTravels could be but the ones I looked at were all the same size but it makes sense for them to make a larger one
Wanted to try one of those. Nice.
@@wolfeadventures I’ll give you one… I won’t be using all 6
@@MarmaladeOutdoorsthank you.
Thank you Mike
You’re welcome and thanks for watching
Cool!
Thanks buddy!
My two cents on tires. If you plan to drive on gravel or unimproved roads, then get a quality off-road rated tire. Street tires and many of the lower quality "All Terrain" tires will get punctured by sharp rocks. ~S
Thanks my friend, great tip!
Hi Mike. I wonder if you have considered a Japanese style futon as a mattress? The website sleepoopolis recommends FULI mattress. Pros include "available in extra-long sizes". ~S
The homeless firefighter had a good series as well. Never my ambition to do it full time but I’ve spent a number of nights in my van for various reasons while traveling. You all do you. What’s good for the goose isn’t always the ambition of the gander. No need to be fractious with one another. Different strokes for different folks. Better to have it be a choice than a necessity it would appear to me.
Such great advice for us newbies. Much appreviated!
Hey Sara, thanks and I’m so glad it’s helpful…
Thank you, Mike. This is a really great video. Having actually rolled a vehicle over and landed back on the wheels, I can tell you just how important good tires, suspension and alignment are. That was over 40 years ago, but learning that lesson the hard way made me, supper super picky about vehicle maintenance and especially tires and suspension. Of all your tips I feel the one about going to your overnight spot and going to sleep is the most essential if you are doing stealth parking in neighborhoods. Most of the times I have done this and left early, I feel no one even knew I was there. Thank you again for another informative and entertaining video. Blessings ❤😊
Thanks so much and you’re right… if people are going to sleep in other people’s places you must be respectful and get in and out without bothering anyone. I hope this helps others!
Thanks you for the great info. Very appreciated
You’re welcome and glad it helped!
Have you ever had any difficulty when parked for the night from police wanting to check the "tint" on the windows? If you have black out shades, and they can't see in, is that against the law? In FL we have regulations about what level of tint is legal. Thank you. Keep these videos coming please!
So I’m in California but I think the tiny law is for the day time but I could be wrong. Yes I have gotten the knock three or four times with my windows blacked out, but it was mostly because I was parking in the wrong places. A couple times it was in a park-and-ride where you park your car and then carpool somewhere so you leave your car there for a while. And the other place was my 24 hour gym. I thought it was better to park at places where cars are coming and going all the time but it turned out to be the opposite, and it’s the places where cops patrol and look for that kind of stuff. I found a very high-end neighborhood that has lots of parts of the streets where nobody’s houses are facing where you park so they’re not looking at your car at night. I also prefer dark streets over light Street so people can’t see in your car and don’t know you’re in there. I hope this helps you some but I’m honestly not sure about the law in terms of tent. Thanks for watching and the great question.
@@mariajhanley5172 I live in Missouri and we have the same laws about tints there are 3 different %, front, rear and back sides. It only applies to wind Tinto that is perminat and while you are driving. Once you stop you can protect the interior of your car with window covers. Florida could be different though.
My condo lease is up at the end of December. I’m so ready to move in my car so I can pay off debt and save for a down payment for a house. I just ordered my window covers so I can start to practice.
Awesome and I think you are going to love the freedom! Good luck with the savings as well. It has really helped me pay off debt and save to do some of my outdoor adventures. I hope the video helped in some way! Cheers
I am in the process of cleaning out my home to sell or rent. I have a van I have stayed in with a no build set up. I love it. I am looking forward to hiking the PCT or AT.
I mean no disrespect to anyone living in there car but I'd like to say to people, please at all costs do your best not to have to live in your car long. It's not mentally or physically healthful and can lead to all sorts of issues and dangers.
You’re allowed your opinion but this video is about helping people that might be forced too. Many many people do it and absolutely love it and would never go back to a home or apartment. Again you’re always allowed your opinion but telling people they shouldn’t do it long term is YOUR opinion and people shouldn’t make their decisions on what YOU think they should do. I don’t have a problem with you saying you don’t think it’s a good idea but I do have an issue with you trying to get people not to do it. What a crappy comment to get for the first comment on my video that I spent so much time on. I hope you gave a better day geez.
@ Yes sir, I have been here before and had to do the same. I know what its implications are, I was simply and respectfully saying to try not to stay in your car long term. For women it is very very dangerous. I respect your video and did not mean any disrespect. Thank you sir for your video.
@ no worries I do welcome everyone’s opinion but also try and keep it positive and a place to share knowledge. I didn’t think you were disrespectful at all. Sometimes it just strikes me weird that anyone who doesn’t agree or like something someone else says has to tell them that. None of us will ever agree on everything. I feel if someone doesn’t agree that it’s better to just not watch those types of videos and just keep it to themselves? Just my humble opinion… have a great day my friend!
My buddy has to live in his car and I just sent him this video. Awesome advice. Hope all is well my brother!! Timmy C Arizona
@ yes you're right and thank you for sharing. TH-cam is a great place to share and receive different perspectives and insights which is the best part of the human experience. Maybe you could make a great video on women and their safety in vehicle living! That would be great to learn from for us ladies out there. I loved the idea personally for years I watched tons of videos on van life and then tried it myself and I was affected greatly by it and did not know how it was going to affect me. So maybe it would be great on what ladies could expect on the subject. 😊
Sorry about the car troubles. That stinks! Thanks for taking us along on the hike 🙂
Nice trail. Thanks for taking us to ok n your hike.
Arent gyms known for high theft rates? They know people will be in for a while so lots of car breakins.
Most likely but it does depend the area you live in. My gym is so slammed and busy it would be a little hard to get enough privacy to break in but yes it can happen but for that matter it can anywhere.
Really enjoyed that one. Looked like there were a few “Washington steep” places there!
Thanks my friend and there’s a few steepish sections but nothing like “Washington steep” lol… the first half is where all the up is and then pretty flat until the very end. I really enjoy this hike… for some reason has the same feel as the PCT locally.
Nice heart pumping hike!
Thanks and yes it is… very up and down over the first half for sure.
That did not look like a Ford Bronco Sport at the end?
Very observant, among other things I’m having major car problems and may have to get a new one. For now I am using a loner car from the dealership
Thank God we have land like this preserved!!!! Huge area
I completely agree… it’s beautiful out there and always reminds me for some reason of the desert section of the PCT…
Great hike
Is there camping nearby?
Not where I hike but if you watch the flyby at the end, right where I started heading back towards the car (at my furthest point) there’s a dirt trail/road and signs and I’ve always thought you might be able to camp out there. In the video there’s the stone house I showed and next to it is a ranger station. Of interested I would just call them and ask. Thanks for watching
Beautiful scenery, great hike. Definitely changing seasons. Thanks for taking me along.
Hey thank you and yes definitely brown and no flowers. The spring is even more beautiful out there for sure!
Great hike love the music too!
Thx brotha… tried to go for a little more rock to make it fun
I so need to get out
@@Ericidryfly me too brotha, this was my first hike in about a month which is unheard of for me. Between car problems and a bad cold… it had been forever since I hiked. Just go get on a trail up there where you live. Look at AllTrails and try a new trail there?
Nice ramble.
Thank you and yes it was quite lovely!
@ socal hiking is best in the winter!
I’m considering getting an electric generator with plugs for a heater during the winter
UPS maibox centers provide a physical address, not a po box. Can check if have mail via phone. So no wasted trips. If no choice i can easily soft buid my suv. Tempting to save $ but i could not handle being on the move always hinting for safe parking. Overnight. Occasionally using Rest area for lomited 8 hours in seattle doesnt work. Gotta consider menral physical health. Not built for it. Have an old friends gated business, access to shower toilet kitchen would have been doable. But he is a malignant narcissist. Would be stepping into lions den. If had to will figure it out otherwise has no romantic appeal.
I was living in my car for 6 months I have an equinox I worked at an Amazon facility next to the interstate (overnight) I’d move around place to place sleeping during the day it be so hot so I’d go sleep on or by a beach off Lake Michigan to keep cool I slept on my passenger side too also I worked a season job at a Home Depot and one of the guys set me up with a ryobi inverter with 6 hr battery I would be able to plug a fan in and run it for about 4 hours but if I did not plug my fan in I could keep my phone I just double up on blankets to make it comfortable enough to sleep I used my parents address and that’s where I’d take my inverter battery to charge when it die for my parents lived an hour 15min drive in another state anything I order was sent to thier house too
