Great video! You know, you can really shorten that vent hose. It comes super long to accommodate all spaces, but you can cut much of the excess off to eliminate the extra hosing. Your dryer will actually work more efficiently with a shorter hose! If it's getting bent, it's too long.
Thanks! I could probably cut it shorter (I didn’t think of that at the time), but it needs to be long enough to pull out the dryer to get behind. I’ll have to see what I can cut off.
@@reallifewithalipull the washer out and you can get the connections made on the dryer with it only pulled out about a foot from the wall. Make it shorter too!
@@reallifewithali Get a periscope... there's a youtube channel called al metal dryervent... he vlogs his daily dryer vent cleaning service videos... and he shows the backs of ppl's dryers and often they are kinked and lots of times he fixes them with what is called a periscope... it's like a square metal box that connects to the wall and can move to accomodate where the back end of the dryer goes in and then just push the dryer directly into that up against the wall... it looks so much better... You did so much great cleaning here... but seeing you push that long hose back probably kinking it is likely blocking airflow..
Thank you for this great tutorial. I finally did all the steps including shortening the flexible pipe. I cannot believe the difference! Our clothes dried so much faster. This was such a time saver. Again, thank you.
My husband just did ours and replace the exhaust pipe that goes outside😊 thank goodness for him! I’d be afraid to do it myself( I’m 70) and our dryer is on a platform so i certainly can’t lift it off lol. Good job
Thank you for the suggestion. I like to use women TH-camrs to help encourage my students. Many are older, single women & of you can do it, so can they, I tell them.
I did ours about a month ago. We do it once a year in the Spring. I also found it astonishing how much lint was in there. We are lucky that our dryer sits right at the wall where it exits,so we doing have a long line at all. Great video!!
Watched a lot of your vids today. It encouraged me to decluttered half of kitchen. Tomorrow I the other half and organize. Thank you for your encouraging videos.
Ali!!! Way 👏🏼 To 👏🏼 Go 👏🏼taking care of that dryer vent!!! I did this myself a few months back (I tried to record the fiasco too, didn’t go so well lol) and was amazed by what came out just inside the house. I missed a screw so I had my dryer out of commission for a couple of days lol! I hope this video goes Viral as a reference for us DIY’ers tackling home maintenance projects 😊! How cool was it to see you use the blower to get all that lint out 🤯!! I bet your dryer will be a thousand times more efficient! Great work!
The installer who put our dryer in cut the flexible hose shorter so it would fit without kinking. Maybe you could try that yourself or look into buying a shorter length one? Great job!
I just love all your videos, doesn’t matter what they are. I’ve watched your declutter marathons at least 20 times. It gets me super motivated. Thanks for always sharing great content❤❤ P.S. just did my dryer vent 🙌🏻
Loop a cord round the hose so you can lift and rearrange it’s position whilst pushing the dryer back into position - it could then loop along the back of the dryer without getting so bent or dented it gets squashed blocks the flow diameter. I agree you could shorten the hose, but only so far if you need the length to pull the machine out
I agree it would have been good to add a bag or something else before attaching the leaf blower. But Ali it looked SO funny. At least now you have the footage of how NOT to do next time. And next time you get footage of how to do it right. I just wonder what to use? A plastic bag wouldn't be good. And how to fasten it at the vent? I guess you have plenty of questions to answer for a version 2 in a years time or so. 😊😊😊
@@reallifewithali I have a professional coming to clean the vent because I think there is something living in there (or formally was living in there.) I am planning to clean the dryer itself though. Thank you so much for such a clear and detailed video.
Absolutely shocking how much lint was there. My dryer vents directly outside so I only have to clean the flexible hose but I still need to do it once a year.

one of the best home maintenance videos i've seen, great stuff.

Thanks for sharing. I don’t have a dryer but very interesting!Shocked to see the amount of lint you removed! Well done 👏🏻
Thanks!
Wow, so much lint, esp at the end. You got so much done!
I know, crazy, right?!
Astounding results!! Nice job sharing step by step. Good advice on having a tarp next time, to catch the lint outside.
Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion. I think we have done that before, but the problem is it needs to expand enough to pull out the dryer. 🤔
Very helpful! Thank you!😊

That was so satisfying! Makes me want to do mine right away. I'm sure it's packed.
Do it! I want to hear how it goes!
An appliance that gets forgotten. I have a different lint attachment, but I may try this cleaning hack.
It definitely gets forgotten!
Amazing how much lint accumuates! I bet your clothes dry in no time now! Have a great day!
