I have 4 cats in the room here in Dubai. Super adorable. Love em.
You'll LOVE Istanbul haha
I love Istanbul .. the coffee is fantastic, trust me . And the tea? Amazing .
I can respect you coffee decision but the tea is more my speed haha
I love places that open until late. Even if i hardly make use of it, just the possibility of it is amazing.
I'm currently living in a country where everything shuts down as 6, and some cases earlier...😂 annoying
100% agree! Just wait til my review of Barcelona haha
Born and raised, old Istanbulian here. I have NEVER drank the tab water.
It is drinkable, but not for my taste. Only use for boiled occasions, such as brewing tea or cooking pasta.
Thanks for this!
@@camdendavid I don't drink mains water in Istanbul, but natural waters are found in the more mountainous cities of Turkey and it is very tasty. I hope you will be in Bolu one day and have the opportunity to drink tea made with water from the mountain. :)
Many of the main sites now are so expensive as admission prices have shot up. Hagia Sophia and Topkapi palace are no longer cheap places to visit.
I noticed that when I was visiting back in May
Totally agree, I am planning within few days, and I will skip a lot of places because of the pricy fees.
The proper footwear is a good tip. When I was in Istanbul, there where a lot of light showers. The pavement got really slippery. With the benefit of hindsight, next time I would bring a pair of light hiking boots and not trainers.
Thanks for this!
I am going at the end of January, thanks for the tip, was going to buy trainers tomorrow now I may get hikers instead
Love the Turkish ice cream and baklava as well!! Mmmm 🤤
🍦
The smoking and Wifi thing is an overall issue in Turkey. The internet in general is quite slow there esp. in smaller towns and rural areas. Also, most of Turkey is hilly and moderately high in elevation. Hard to find a lot of flat places unless you're in one of the valley cities.
Appreciate you sharing this
Thanks Camden
Awwwwwww the Cat Man. That’s sweet
He's the best!
I love everything about Istanbul 😍🐱😍🐱
Wi-Fi situation is so true, and the annoying smoking in restaurant
Agreed
thank you this is so helpful :)
Glad to hear it!
@camdendavid what do you do for work that gives you the freedom to move around every month?
50$ a night hotel ..
I did enjoy the rest of the video and an other
Thanks for the tips
I appreciate the support!
Our water guy 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Love your videos! How would you say the safety/ sketchiness of Istanbul is compared to Cape Town? I am a Cape Town local planning to visit Turkey next year :)
I appreciate the support! Istanbul feels safer than Cape Town to me. I walked through most parts of Istanbul late at night with no issues and always felt safe. Hope you have a great trip! Let me know if you have any other questions while planning :)
@@camdendavid as a loyal Capetonian that's so sad to hear but true. Certain areas are safe. Others not at all. It's such a pity because it's such a great city. Our government needs to create more job opportunities. The latest elections showed the dissatisfaction of the people. It's a start🙏
Just got back from Istanbul a few days ago.. NEVER again! Very disappointed with $200 per night hotel there, the hotel looks like crap. I get more for this price in Europe.
I will be in Istanbul for about 4 nights, what's your thoughts on daily average cost for a budget traveller (food, transportation and accommodation)
Istanbul is great for budget travelers. Public transportation is a breeze and shouldn't cost more than a few dollars each day. Food can be as cheap or expensive as you'd like. $50 a day would be more than enough for me and I could easily manage on $20-$25 if I were limiting myself to eating out only once a day (or street food). It really just depends on how much you're looking to do throughout the day and what type of food you gravitate towards. Hope you have a great time!
Be careful of the restaurant in near the metro in city centre . They give you menus during your meals they give you different menuz . We paid 5,200 for a simple diner !!! It about 180 pounds !
Oh yikes! Thanks for the tip
no smoking indoors anywhere! its against the law and is strictly enforced. you shoud have mentioned that.
He's saying in general terms a lot of people smoke and its in your face where ever you go. No smoking indoors is a general rule all over the world so no need to enforce that.
You have a new subscriber, I enjoy your video. I plan to visit Istanbul in January, can you recommend a place for me to stay? The mosque and tourist areas are not my thing, I'm a budget traveller, and I want great street food and some night life. Recommendations? Hoping for accommodation at around 50USD per night
Thanks for the support and welcome to the crew! I'd start by looking at Moda over in Kadikoy. It's a quieter neighborhood compared to where all the tourists are but you're a few minutes away from the heart of Kadikoy (lots to do night life and street food). Anything around that area would be where I would start my search. You'd be on the Asian side of Istanbul so you'd need to take the ferry if you want to visit the touristy parts (about 20 minutes to get across). But if you'd prefer the European side to be closer to the main attractions, I'd probably look at Cihangir. Lots of hills but a fun spot with some late-night options around. Long story short --- I'd look in Moda/Kadikoy and Cihangir. Hope this helps and let me know what you find!
I live in Istanbul. Great video as its accurate. I dont smoke and the lack of respect smokers have against non smokers is really annoying. Cant enjoy a meal outside without the person sitting next to you blowing their smoke in your face.
Thanks for watching. And yeah, I agree. The smoking can be a bit of a challenge for non smokers
Did you fly a drone? Did you use dji no fly zone map? How easy/difficult was it to fly a drone(dji mini 3 pro)? Have found conflicting views online? Thanks!
Great question! I actually bought access to utilize this drone footage from folks who had permission to fly. Before arriving in Turkey, I was traveling through some countries that don't allow drones so I didn't want to take any risks. I've heard the dji mini is great though!
Would you stay on the Asian or European side?
I always get the European side.
nice
Huh turkish coffee is different to American coffee who would have guessed 😂
VERY different haha 😂
Turkey is no longer affordable :) It is more expensive than Asia and East Europe and less expensive than Western Europe.
I’m here now after travelling in Italy and this is way more expensive than Italy
Just returned. More expensive than UK by a mile. Awful place. Place was like a morgue, dead as a dodo
@@benolio3498 First time I hear this about Turkey. Where exactly did you go? And in the middle of winter too. Istanbul is fkng amazing and the most visited city in the world. Coastal resorts would be dead in December. Country is so beautiful overall, for landscape and everything else.
Sushmita: we'll be there next month and looking forward to our trip BUT those cats... hell nooo... never liked cats and never will 😠 I guess will just hve to tolerate them 🤷 🙄
Hope you have a great trip! The cats won't bug you :)
I would just speak a little faster. so that everyone really understands it even better.
Faster or slower haha? I have a tendency to speak wayyy to fast for lots of people
