Coming from former pro qb is way more accurate assessment of a current pro qb than any pundits. Aaron, brady, chase, and now you...y'all are seeing same things. In brock we trust
Agree. They give an analyst like The post game film review as a player. Not going to listen to people like Nick Wright or Colin Cowherd, who know jack squat about actually football.

The west coast offence has always been amazing to watch! I would also give credit to those responsible for recruiting certain players and putting together this year's team. This team seems to really fit well together and they believe in each other and their ultimate goal. It has been such a thrill ride this year already watching them perform!! Go Niners!!
You got these intelligent QBs breaking down the X's and O's. We've got Kurt Warner. We've got JT O'Sullivan. Now we've got David Carr, who actually brings it strong, with a dash of humor in these recaps. Excellent.
Lmao! I commented the same thing. Only the OG’s who went through those hard dark years know. And that’s why these past 5 years have been so sweet until the end. Let’s get this 6th! And if we do we are going to be good for a long time with Brock, Kyle, lynch, Bosa, and Fred.
I agree. The way he's playing right now, Brock Purdy is the NFL MVP. His anticipation is the best in the league, and his leadership is MVP-level. Other "more talented" quarterbacks haven't achieved what he has in Shanahan's system. With Garoppolo, the 49ers were always teetering on the brink of disaster.
David is a really smart and really good dude. Plus he’s a Bulldog legend and now he’s a great coach and analyst. He’s the type of guy that would be sitting at his desk with his homework done and his pencil sharpened 5 minutes before class starts. He’s the type of dude that is the starting QB but doesn’t mention it once and you try to recruit him to play on your club rugby team because he looks athletic. He’s the type of dude that stays after the game and signs autographs for all the kids.
I didn’t realize David Carr was doing videos until this popped-up. Love it. Informative + funny + throws in some movie quotes = gold. Subscribed. Keep doing these.
Excellent breakdown! This video actually teaches a lot about the details that would otherwise be missed be missed by this “arm chair quarterback.” Thanks David Carr!
Derek Carr is great at analyzing and commenting on plays. Good to listen to someone who can really explain offensive and defensive strategies and execution
Perhaps Purdy's best quality is that he TRUSTS his Receivers! That is a HUGE part of what has made him so successful, and why he's able to throw with such anticipation, and as a result complete many of these passes. He puts the ball where it needs to go, and trusts his Receivers to go and get it. It's really as simple as that.
Amazing breakdown bro. Glad your brother is back on the field. Have you ever thought about being QB coach? I’m sure Brian Griese will wouldn’t mind have you by his side
EVERY successful QB is in the QB system that best fits their talents, while minimizing their weaknesses. Purdy & Matt Ryan are the only QBs to really take Kyles offense to a high level.
Even dating back to that mop up duty after the chiefs whooped SF last year, the kid just went out there and balled. Never seen a rookie QB play with more authority and confidence from the get go than this Purdy kid. Scary thought that even though SF has been a very good team the past couple of years, this is the first season they are truly great.
It looked like Brock looked to his left just long enough for the Mlb to finally bite to his right and as soon as he took that step he just threw it to his left… absolutely toying with him. 😂 11:4012:26 I really haven’t seen a 9er qb effectively and consistently look off defenders since Young.
Woot! Yes David Carr as a born in raised living off Calloway and Olive drive b4 even centennial high school was developed I'm glad to see you on this youtube lol
I've seen several breakdowns from former NFL QBs that explain why the play design is bad for the cowboys offense. It's interesting that McCarthy is sticking with it. Maybe after that embarrassing loss he'll make changes. I still think my 49ers will beat them, but maybe it will be more challenging for the defense if he realizes it's 2023. All of these former QBs are also calling Purdy the MVP so who am I to argue?
Great analysis, pointing out rational thought processes of the OC and QB. When someone just isn’t making intelligent rational decisions based on everything they should know, someone is making mistakes. Arm strength and accuracy matter, but you have to be making solid decisions, otherwise the other attributes don’t matter. If you are just trying to force pinpoint throws without reading a defense, you don’t deserve to be successful. In basketball, spacing is a big thing. You shouldn’t be running sets that let one defender cover two players at the same time. On a football field, spacing is even more pronounced. The skill players shouldn’t be within ten yards of each other (unless it was part of a designed play to make the defenders screen each other). For those Monday morning defenders saying Vander Esche should have picked off that Aiyuk crossing route. Purdy released that ball while Vander Esche was fading in the opposite direction, so it was a perfectly timed release. For it to get picked, only someone like LeBron might have the athleticism and length to pull that off.
Love the video. One of the best I’ve seen on Brock and I’ve watched most of them. (Hey David if you can encourage your brother to pull it together for my fantasy team that would be huge!) just kidding obviously, rooting for him though
Good analysis. Watching this after the 49ers Eagles game. Can't believe I am rooting for Dallas to win against Philly. but want them to I win because I think SF has Dallas' number.
It's not a rivalry when one team keeps whooping that ass. This is a great explanation. It's not just that the niners have better players the coaches are better its not close. Reminds me why the niners couldn't beat Green Bay in the 90s talent was close but coaching wasn't
Having an ex-QB to breakdown the offence and defence seems to be so much better .. don’t really watch too much analysis … but this clip did help me to understand the game a bit more .. thanks
David is an intelligent QB mind. Shame what Houston did to him. Hopefully he gets into coaching at some level man. Also, Purdy and Aiyuk seem to have formed a Rodgers- Adams kind telepathic connection. Aiyuk is a great separator and Purdy has great vision which results in spectacular football Those back to back throws on 3rd&4 and then 3rd and 14 basically ended the game. They were worth 7 pts and created separation from 21-10 to 28-10, killing Dallas' hope.
Lol, I laughed when the ref came out and threw that flag. I fixed it! Not only are the Niner players better, their coaching and schemes are much better. Brock Purdy for comeback player and MVP this year! David…you were a Niner once so you’ll always be a Niner. Vegas was dumb for letting your brother go and end up with Jimmy. That’s all I’m going to say on that.
Great film study DC8! While you are at it... Would you care to talk about how exactly the Bills were able to handle the Dolphins so easily? Or is Geno Smith really all that great in Seattle or is something else behind their success? And lastly what's going on with the Saints offense? Is it play calling, the offensive line or something else? Haha! I just got to the end of the episode and I guess a Saints breakdown isn't going to happen! But I sure would love to know what's going on over there! I sure hope you are right and we see the Saints against the 49ers in the NFC Championship game! I'm a big fan the pod and look to more episodes!
@brauckstar: What are you talking about rivalry between these two teams? Are you living on another planet? The Cowboys have lost to the 49ers in 3 consecutive meetings in the last three years. The Cowboys are not even in the same tier or class of the Niners by definition. End of story.
It is because these these Old School Offenses still exist, that Purdy is being questioned. They have to have strong arms and fast feat, because the Offense is an Antique. Dumb QBs do not have many Rings. These Multi Ring QB's Montana, Young (ok only 1, but), Bradey, Elway(choke), Mannings, Plunkett, Big Ben, Staubach, Aikman, each and every one of these players were Cerebral.
