I missed hearing your opinions on the industry And with a take like this, I'm glad to see you haven't lost interest in it altogether. This really helped explain to me why everyone was interested in Ice Spice and it makes so much sense now. I still don't care much for her voice, but I'm glad she helped introduce me to Pink Pantheress; gonna listen to some of her music soon.
Interesting take, I was considering doing a similar video on my channel because I do feel like there is a shift happening in hip-hop because of all the violence that is no doubt the result NYC and Chicago Drill becoming mainstream. The energy in hip-hop music has become low vibrational and toxic. And perhaps it a sign of the times we live in(COVID, BLM, etc), but I think people are getting tired of the same beats, aethestic and the same ABC rapping skills copy and pasted. I doubt that women would ever "run" the industry because at the end of the day a lot of women in hip hop tend to prioritize satisfying the male gaze and take part in the misogyny that keeps women out powerful/influencial positions. I do think male rappers are going to take the hint from the girls soon and start releasing more club/radio friendly music so they can start charting again.
7:07 I’m sorry but I gotta call it… I remember when ice spice just came out with munch and bikini bottom and yassine was going in on her on his main channel, insinuating she won’t make it very far (think it was cus of the incident where she ditched performing at an event) 😂 just funny seeing him acknowledging ice spice going olaces
Mid Spice too, another one that just won't go away. She's signed to the family that basically owns the music industry or we wouldn't know who TF she is
It's easier for female rappers to be pushed by the industry. It's more acceptable for them to steal flows and stay out of gang stuff (Ice Spice "can" do Bronx drill and be mainstream in a way guys can't).
so not true. males make up and clothing budgets cost less and we can't get pregnant. female bases are more loyal and open minded. males just have to hit a generic box of whats hot at the the time and 200 new rappers sounding like lil durk, lil baby, and anything drill associated. shit been weird since 2016'.
Don't know how big Afrobeats is in USA, however globally I would argue it's slowly and will eventually overtake hip hop popularity and if you heard any afrobeats song before, you will quickly realise it's upbeat and all about providing people with music to have a good time, no violent messaging. I believe its rising popularity may be a reason as to why there might be a shift in the type of music labels are pushing as a whole. I could be wrong, though, so any different perspective is welcomed.
Coi leray "players " Is straight up the worst song of 2022 to 2023 lmao I heard this trash day one at work, horrible horrible song, and I've been hearing it non stop 3 times a day lmao
Lauryn Hill and Nicki Minaj are dropping + NoName is getting her mainstream push all in the next 5 years I take it. Lil Simz must be getting a 'Her Loss' level advance on her next album. Dreezy's getting The Weeknd's promotion.
@@trinib3403 nahhh I’m sorry, but if we are talking about going toe to toe with male rappers you’re forgetting about missy Elliott, and da brat, she has nothing on them.
Bruh is consumed by feminism 💀 male rappers been working on projects rn Travis, Metro is currently working wit JID, Drake on his shi bruh wtf is u talking abt wit demonic shi? Edit: bruh jxt sent me to Heaven for str8 5 minutes! Happy April Fools Day!
Am I crazy for saying that the charts aren’t really reflecting the state of the culture? Charts have always been based on label push and radio spins but we have seen that a lot of this is artificial. So how can this really determine what moves the industry? Especially in today’s age where more and more artists are less dependent on these metrics and more focused on building their core fan base and appealing to them
I tried not to say anything but I cannot help myself there is no woman out right now that is running rap based off of skill alone if she is not showing or talking about sex she has no interest prove me wrong.
Let’s not forget silk the shocker used to have hits and was a chart topper so I don’t agree when you say Ice Spice isn’t that terrible they always push mediocre in our face and paint it as innovative 😂😂😂

They released it as a direct to feature Netflix film becuse there was so little mainstream interest for it.

We need funk back in rap. G-Funk need a comeback lol

Lauryn Hill and Nicki Minaj are dropping + NoName is getting her mainstream push all in the next 5 years I take it.

Saweetie wasn’t wrong. Nobody expected Glorilla at all😂She definitely one of my favorite female artist.
Hmm very impressive yes, now let's see those album sales numbers 🤔
The original players song is much better than the remix
I agree.
When Bobby Smurda dropped 'Hot Nigga' was the start how drill rapping became mainstream.
I read this as “would ruin rap” lmaooo
Women are running rap (🙄) but she isn’t.
Lmfao 😂 all these new age female rappers are doing is Pimping themselves out through rap but whatever.
April fools duh
Dawg none of them running rap idc what kind of holiday it was yesterday
Nicki is the only female running female rap. And is the only female rapper that can go toe to toe with all the male rapper's.
@@trinib3403 nahhh I’m sorry, but if we are talking about going toe to toe with male rappers you’re forgetting about missy Elliott, and da brat, she has nothing on them.
Too bad that statement doesn't include her
It's running a muck. So sick of these girl beefs and pick a side.
Lil durk never dominated the charts tho even in his biggest years
There's 10 versions of Coi's trash song 😂 it just won't go away. So many songs just won't go away

Real & Based.
Saweetie label doesn’t support her, should’ve been dropped her album IDK if people care anymore.
Am I crazy for saying that the charts aren’t really reflecting the state of the culture?
