    That video about wearing clothes that fit your lifestyle really hit home with me. I FINALLY can pick out what I need as opposed to what I like. It’s not easy, thank you for the pep talk. I love clothes which makes it hard to be practical sometimes! You do a fabulous job, thanks!!

      She does, doesn't she? I just got rid of a BUNCH of clothes that no longer fit my lifestyle and I decided to only buy clothes made of natural fibers, so that has made shopping a whole lot easier for me. 😊

      I agree, it really makes me not by a bunch of stuff that I like that just really won’t be able to wear. I need to focus on more casual clothes.

    Would you do a video on fall wear when it's still 99 degrees and 95 degress in Oct in GA? I can't wear boot s or jackets. Any help would be apprecieated. Please don't say cotton pants I sweat and they stick to me lol!

    This was great! I loved the outfits you made. Yes, the gingham skirt outfit is great. You do a fantastic job of layering. This has me excited about fall outfits. 😃

    I love striped tops. I have striped sweaters, tees and button up shirts. The look is so classic. I agree that ivory is such a great transitional color into fall. Great video, Jamie.

    It’s still full summer where I live, and it won’t cool down until mid-October or early November. But, I’m always longing to wear my blazers, sweaters and boots this time of year. I also love layering, that third piece/layer, usually a jacket, makes the outfit, in my opinion. I’m very much a skirt/dress and blazer outfit fan. I have no love of hot weather and find summer the hardest season to style myself well, staying cool has to take higher priority than looking chic. I wear lots of well-ironed linen, but it’s does get quite rumpled looking, I just try to forget about it. I know it just goes with the territory when wearing linen, the coolness of which is a lifesaver for me.

    There is a reason summer-to-fall transitional clothing is neutral tones: the bees don't buzz around as they do brighter colors... 🐝 🐝 🐝

    Thank you for this! For me the transitional time is the most difficult of the entire year. We have to have multiple layers for 30° temperature swings throughout the day. It's not as easy as just throwing a jacket on over your outfit unfortunately. Your bottom layer needs to be lightweight and breathable yet look like fall colors. I always see some really comical outfits put together on peopleThis time of year. Some people dress like it's the dead of winter and others look like they're still headed to the beach LOL It can be really stressful in the morning to put together an outfit. Your tips are helpful!

    I never understand why people combine bare legs with long sleeves. Especially not with a blazer or sweater. 🙄

      A friend once wore a cute sweater & jeans with platform wedges to a party in November. I kept thinking how cold her feet must have been.

      I see the sweatshirt/shorts combo a lot on high school girls. (Sometimes when it’s 90 degrees, sometimes when it’s 40 degrees.) I agree, it just doesn’t look sensible. Showing my age!

    I wear a lot of white, but ivory is a great alternative for fall and winter. I have cool coloring, so it’s not so good next to my face, but perfect for skirts and trousers. I often wear lighter colors on the bottom than on top, it helps visually balance my skinny hips and legs with my fuller torso, especially my bust.

    • @yensid4294
      @yensid4294 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have the same figure challenge. I'm very full busted with a thicker rib cage (mid section) Meno took away what little waist definition I once had. I prefer darker tops/lighter bottoms & adding fullness to my lower half. When I can't do that I dress very monochromatically. Black joggers paired with a black tee or tank looks like a jumpsuit (without the inconvenience when using the restroom lol) I try to create a long vertical line visually so I don't look like a marshmallow on toothpicks😮

    Thank you so much for this video, Jamie! I came away with so many great ideas on styling my linen pieces into the fall that I wouldn't have come up with! I have a pair of light flax-colored pants that I didn't think I could wear in the fall, but when you mentioned putting them with a black shirt, you made a light bulb go on, over my head... lol. I loved so many looks you put together and I have to say, if you wore that gingham skirt with some brown cowboy boots and a chunky, cable knit sweater, you'd totally be ready for the pumpkin patch! 😊 Thanks again for making this very informative and helpful video! ❤

    Matching footwear, and hosiery if any is worn, to the color of a pair of trousers or a long skirt, is an old trick, but a good one. The trend of bookending with footwear the color of one’s top, and contrasting with the bottom worn, is very cute, but not great on us petites who want to maximize our visual length. Many trends really only work for tall, flat and skinny women, so I skip them. I just feel much more confident if I can add a little visual height in the way I style my outfits. I wasn’t that short in my youth, but I lost two inches of height since then, which changed my vertical proportions and made me feel self-consciously “too short”. I also had to lose 20-25 lbs., I was using my previous height to calculate my BMI. I do look better now. I always wear a 2-2.5 inch heel if I possibly can, too.

    • @karennealy1857
      @karennealy1857 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree! I think I’m still 5’3”at 63, but now that my eye is trained to see the elongating benefits of nude or same-as-pants/skirts footwear, it’s rare that I “go with” a contrasting bookend-color option even though I often still try it before deciding. I’m not big busted at all but I’m short waisted (and short-armed! And short-legged!) so keeping extra weight off is critical to looking “flattered” by my clothes! Thankful I found intermittent fasting. Recommend it to anyone feeling stuck in weight loss efforts, especially post-menopausal (assuming it’s safe for your health situation)

    Thanks for your promp styling advise. I'm also the 5.4 hight, and it really gets me upset when the styling advises, mostly are for about a taller woman. But, I'm reaching of the color combinations, I have still some courdoroy pants and jackets, that I can still wear currently before reaching winter.
    Greetings from San Diego California and hope you have an excellent weekend

    Love your transitional ideas, I found them very smart. I'm short legs, and long skirts did not help me at all. Also that I travel often, so I sport shoes. I hate styling Sandals, if I need to go other places, a pair of boots. The sour if México, Iain a little, si boots or close shoes

    ❤ 😊 thank you so much for these tips on autumn transitional outfits. I just laugh at the 15 pair of designer skinny jeans sitting in a bottom baskets for yet another season. Any suggestions for wide leg denim for tall women? Love the linen suggestion, it feels so good too. I found a pair of linen beige BR trousers thrifting. They were a fraction of the price and in perfect condition.
    It’s videos like this that help me build my wish list to take thrifting. I would not have had trousers_linen on my list of nice to haves.

    I love that gingham maxi skirt. Every outfit you've styled with it looks amazing on you. The off white-tan gingham is more versatile than the usual blue or red gingham imo. I hope maxi skirts & dresses stick around since I prefer a maxi especially in Summer.

    Good video. Helpful for me since in GA where I live transition season is also long & mostly hot, although we eventually need removable layers for cooler early mornings. Glad you included that jumpsuit! I bought that after your video featuring it. I have same or super similar booties to both you showed with it so I will be shopping my closet for jackets & accessories to make it work for fall. Those midi denim skirts are so hard to make flattering on us petites! After seeing this I’m holding out a little hope for trying them again with kitten heel tall boots!!

    This is not a linen question but a question about covering legs. I am almost 70 and do not like showing my legs because of age spots and big scar on knee from surgery. I know the style is not to wear hosiery. I am attending a nice function the week before Fall starts, and was wondering about black tights or hose. My dress is a black tweed Jackie-O style and a little shorter than what I normally wear. What are your thoughts on this? Thank you
