  • Welcome to Episode 14 of Live & Learn. In this episode, Megan welcomes Ruth Lindsay and Meredith Fanneli from the Children’s Tumour Foundation to discuss neurofibromatosis (NF). Ruth and Meredith highlight the profound impacts of NF on school-aged children, including learning challenges, fatigue, sensory processing issues, and mental health concerns. They emphasise the importance of raising awareness, tailored school adjustments, support for families, empowering teachers and fostering peer understanding.
Neurofibromatosis is a group of rare and complex genetic conditions that cause tumours to form on nerves throughout the body. NF can lead to a range of significant health issues such as deafness, blindness, physical differences, bone abnormalities, learning difficulties, itch, chronic pain and even cancer. The Children’s Tumour Foundation is the only dedicated neurofibromatosis patient advocacy and support service in Australia for children, adults and their families.
