No click bait. No intro. No BS. No escapades. Just Fishing and talking. Breath of fresh air to watch fishing and hear advice front to back. Thanks Seth.
So this is the 3rd or 4th video I've seen from SF and I have to say that he's one of the better fishing teachers on TH-cam. He just has an awesome ability to articulate how and why to do things as well as other things to try. He would not have been someone I would've guessed to be a great teacher but as a fairly new angler, I've learned a ton from watching this guy, keep up the great work Seth Feider!!!!
I love how you highly believe in braid and liters i am also a firm believer. You are seriously one of my favorite pro anglers to take pointers from. Thanks for the teaching brother.
Seth's videos are so informative and he always lays the smack down on fish too. Some guys talk up a presentation in a 10 minute video and catch one fish the entire video.
I watched a friend of mine, a bait maker- catch a 3.5 pound bass on a block of wood with hooks hanging off it- not even shaped like a fish or anything and had no action whatsoever, literally just a squared block of wood with some hooks hanging off it. Another guy right here on TH-cam takes his kids bathtub toys and hangs hooks off them- catches a bunch of nice small mouth with them- according to your logic this means blocks of wood and bathtub toys are great lures. Think about that... maybe catching fish in one video doesn't mean so much after all huh?
I’ve watched so many Seth feider video today that I have went word for word with him on which rod he’s using 😂 that man loves that 7 foot Brent Euler medium heavy
I feel like using braid around cover ESPECIALLY when flippin, spooks fish. Braid puts off a vibration when it runs over trees, rocks, docks, etc. my preference is straight flouro for EVERYTHING except top water fishin.
I made a bunch of home made ones. I used different weights and hook sizes. Will test this weekend. I have a feeling the smaller hooks and smaller baits will crush
I have all hook options offered so far. Have tossed the Tokyo rig around once last fall. For some reason I haven't tried them this spring I haven't used them yet. Bout to tie one on now!
You can get different size weights and hooks for em. Longer wires. Shorter wires. I don't think it would be any different from a jig as far as fish throwing the hook
Absolutely they have a much easier time the larger the weight you use- gives them more weight to violently sling back and forth until it tears a hole and comes out. Also- the further away from their face the weight is, the more apt they are to sling the bait- it gives the weight more leverage to shake that hook back and forth, tear a hole in the tissue, and out it comes. But- if you use a mod/fast rod, or a fast that has a more parabolic bend- really helps to pin that bait to the fish- then when the fish shakes it's head back and forth- instead of the whole rig moving violently back and forth- you're rod is holding it steady by keeping pressure on it. Now the weight and the wire are still gonna sling around- they're on a split ring- but they'll do so less violently and hopefully you holding pressure on that hook keeps it from responding to all that violent shaking.
For up close pitching like this I think this rig works pretty well but- for casting out and retrieving I don't like it at all. Drop shot is the same, I want to be pretty close to where I'm fishing it and be up above it- like in a boat or something making shorter casts. Trying to fish it from the bank is rarely successful for me.
You can use braid where the wire is and make it as long as you need it to be and it really is like a drop shot that way, been doing this for almost a couple of years
Wired2Fish I don’t have a prob with it wrapping and with the wire you can only use it like a few off the bottom with braid you can make it as long as you need
You missing the whole point if you want to use braid then it's a drop shot The wire makes it temporarily stand up off the bottom it's completely different rig, completely different
The orange one is a support bracelet for someone who passed away. These guys often donate to different organizations, for example John Crews sells bracelets for Autism Awareness and donates the proceeds. I image that’s the type of bracelets Seth is wearing
Tokyo rigs are the thing that made me realize leader line is not needed. If they bite a bait with a giant wire hanging off of it they dont give a damn about that braided line 😂.
I feel like the bait on my tokyo rig likes to just fall forward and the hook and bait doesn't stay up like I thought it would. Any thoughts? It has caught fish though
Hi Dominik. Consider the buoyancy of the plastic. Floating plastics like Z-Man's ElaZtech do a good job maintaining the bait in a horizontal position compared to sinking plastics.
Nicholas LaFleur Also, the rigid wire helps hold the bait above the silt and mud bottom. If you used fishing line instead of wire it would just collapse and act just like a Texas rig and bury in the soft bottom.
@@jbjgibbons John, that is total nonsense. If you have slack in your line the wire Tokyo rig will fall over, it does not stand up on its own. If you keep a tight line it will stand up just the same as a standard drop shot with heavy duty braid. That is just a matter of physics. What if the silt and mud is deeper than the length of the wire on the Tokyo rig.....what then???
@@jbjgibbons John, just do an actual test for yourself. You don't have to go with what Mike Ike said in his video, you can find out for your self by doing your own test. See if that Tokyo rig will stand up on its own on a slack line.
It’s an interesting rig. The fish caught were good size. Please try to keep the fish off the deck of the boat because their protective slime rubs off and increases the mortality rate of released fish.
Agree Ralphus Lupus. Been advocating this for years. MLF recognizes the importance of protecting the resource and is slowly educating the "douchebags" as Clarence Boddiker so aptly described.

Much respect for Seth- super knowledgeable!

Love working with the guy for those very reasons!

I have said it a thousand times in my opinion Seth is the best teacher hands down no BS just straight to it simple instructions
Thanks Anthony, and this seems to be a growing and recurring comment. We couldn't agree more. We're excited to have more of Seth on the site soon!
This guy just has amazing technique, just an amazing angler.
One of our favorites and a true educator. Humble, gracious, and a bass hammer 🛠.
Tokyo rigs are what I've come to swear by. I caught my first bass on one of them here in Texas on one with a zoom red shad. That bass ate it right up!
Seth you are awesome. Appreciate how clear and detailed you are.
I second and also finsup!
This dude is legit. Following him on all social ASAP.
Dude, nice run down on the setup. Not many people online talk about the equipment from a long term and wear stand point.
Ur videos are very very informative!I learned a new rig too I've never heard of this rig. Iam gonna try it in bass spawn...
In a spawm?
Love the sound of that FG going through the guides
It does something to you.
Thinks am always trying new thing bass fishing..Some how.I forgot to try this..Going to try it soon
Bucket list to try soon!!!.Great video!!

In this video Seth uses a fluorocarbon leader connected by an FG knot to a braid mainline.
Love the Tokyo rig, not used much around here, and is deadly.
I kept waiting for the rod to snap! Crazy boat flips!
That’s cause he has the technique down. He did a whole video on it. th-cam.com/video/F0fXJYQ48E8/w-d-xo.html

Same. Glass bead between two bullets. I make mine a touch longer to
Just banked a 5.3# today on the Tokyo Craw!
Thanks
This rig works wonders.
Old Michigan Fisherman 🤠
Second eye on the rod is bent bad, mate. Awesome fishing
I tried the tokyo rig this summer. It does catch fish but i get stuck a lot and at $6 for 2 rigs its not cheap
I will try to use this rig here in Brazil
Cool, for Golden Dorado?

You can also make your own.
Seth has an overall Joe Dirt vibe, i love it 🤙 Please come to Lake Havasu and take me fishing man! Ill show you some local spots 🫡🙏

I wonder if with the big weight on there will the fish have an easier time throwing the rig when they come up and head shake ?

Got damn, same hair cut as Johnny Winter around 1980. And u are as good:)
Sweet vid, gonna try this rig. Nothing like a good old stocked pond
Mr. Tavone not a stocked pond. I know the lake and fish it

I love me some Seth fishing but that rod is not at Tackle Warehouse???
There is only a 7'medium lite???
Would you do this early spring 50- 60 degree water if grass was present on flats or not until later in year with warmer water??
You can use braid where the wire is and make it as long as you need it to be and it really is like a drop shot that way, been doing this for almost a couple of years
Hi smoovefishing, the point of the wire is its rigidity and the fact that it doesn't wrap around cover as braid would.
Thanks for the comment!

sylvrbullets that’s all the Tokyo rig is a short drop shot, with metal wire

@@Wired2Fish thanks!
Hook size you use
So because the wire is rigid he is saying you’ll catch more fish that a power shot?
Nicholas LaFleur you’ll get snagged less. Fishing line has a tendency to wrap around weeds and wood.
Nicholas LaFleur Also, the rigid wire helps hold the bait above the silt and mud bottom. If you used fishing line instead of wire it would just collapse and act just like a Texas rig and bury in the soft bottom.

I would like to see this with a tungsten egg weight
Now I know where miliken got his mmhmm from
Why not just use side imaging to see the weed edge?
I'm surprised he doesn't use the 360 for weed edges. It makes staying on a weed edge super easy.

I imagine it would be pretty tough to skip this rig?
You can skip anyting
@@sylvrbullets Lies. I can't skip anything lol

Pretty comparable.
Is that a #4 hook?
