I'm just jelly about the fact that he can play it but I can't remember the last time I played it has to be I do not know 5 years and counting and it has to do with the cramps in my left hand and my inability to see what I am doing and I would gladly trade my eyes for the release of the cramps in my left hand cause I don't have to see to play 😭😂
This is one of those songs that has a bassline so good it makes you feel bad for not being able to listen to it, even thought it really stands out. You did a killer cover and that bass is just beautiful. Totally looking forward to learn it.
@Parker Hetzel Lemmy would agree. He had his bass cut entirely, and mids cranked all the way, I'm pretty sure. And Lemmy doesn't consider himself metal, either. Doesn't he prefer "hard rock"?
Parker Hetzel Ehh he turned down the bass on everything and turned up the mids and treble so it sounds like a super thick stringed guitar, but that man could play chords on a bass like no tomorrow. Plus when you get into genres of metal with harsher tone, louder guitars, and lower tunings, chords are not as important as playing in time, plus as a bassist, play chords all the time is kinda exhausting (at least for me because I have a heavy gauge 5strimg set on my bass, and it is needed)
Dude great job I have been playing bass for 16 yrs and love Death watched Scott play this many times and the slaps and pops you added in your technique that Scott does not even do you made this bass line even better lol your tone and playing are sick awesome job and your rocking ass attitude you bring to this video really feeling that metal in your blood makes it all come alive you rule! keep jamming I will keep watching your vids for sure
this is fuckin badass, your bass tone is flawless and all your additions were super tasteful. next time i play this i'm gonna try throwing in some slaps and extra licks like you do, rock on man
You hit those chords the opposite way i approach them but apparently im not the only guy who thinks a slappy octave sounds great for the chorus. Great cover dude hellll yeah
@@roosolini7105 Well on the original Human press. Steve was barely heard. Itp was a little better I guess. But I was he would've stayed for Symbolic. That's when their tone got way clearer. Would've been great.
And where do we find the love of bass that drives us to improve and progress ?when we begin playing as kids ? The posters on the wall in the background says it all. Exquisite job my friend!
I find myself here, 2 years since the first time I see the video, and is like the first time I saw it, fascinated. This video was such an inspiration when I started playing Bass, and, god, it keeps, such an incredible work, cheers!!
Your timing and technique is amazing. Bass players like you make me glad I chose this instrument. April marks one year strong for me of playing! I have a long way to go and just recently upgraded to a 6 string Ibanez. Waiting on it now!! I remember watching this when I first started playing, it's still inspirational!
Great cover, lovely tone, chords sound savage, love the 3 finger triplets too, taps and slaps are great too. Just learned this myself on fretless, fuuuuuucccking great fun to play. Savage cover, well done
I was watching another cover of this and was thinking how fun it would be to work those slap notes into the chorus, come to your video and you have done 😂😂😂. Absolutely fucking beast mode cover 🤘
This is amazing my dude, I've been trying to play this whole song for quite some time and it's that killer finger stretch that gets me! Once again fantastic cover
@@philip_plays_bass thanks to you for your videos we are colleagues, I also play death bass on my channel although I still have a lot to learn and the covers that I do are strictly brutal
Philip Dollinger Oh yeah one more thing! You encouraged me to pick up my old bass and learn this song after seeing your cover! I just thought “woah I wanna play that” and picked it up
Thank you very much! I really appreciate that because I always try to add my own style to songs I cover. So it's really cool when someone recognizes and likes it :)
I frequently come back watching this cover, it is always like the first time. Really wish I could like the video twice.
Glad you like it man, I really appreciate it! 🙏

Peeeeelle ♡♡♡
I really don't think that chords are utilized as much as they should on bass in metal
They tend to muddy up the tone pretty quickly, and most metal bands tend to prefer pretty precise production, especially nowadays.
@Parker Hetzel Lemmy would agree. He had his bass cut entirely, and mids cranked all the way, I'm pretty sure. And Lemmy doesn't consider himself metal, either. Doesn't he prefer "hard rock"?
rock 'n' roll as he calls it
Parker Hetzel Ehh he turned down the bass on everything and turned up the mids and treble so it sounds like a super thick stringed guitar, but that man could play chords on a bass like no tomorrow.

I use it to make certain parts of a song thicker
I have listened this album like 200 times. And I think never heard this song so "flavorish". Good cover. Now I will listen the album 200 times more
Thank you man! Enjoy it! I should definitely also give it a relisten 😄
Holy shit man, I'm just starting out on bass and love Death and metal in general and you made hard stuff like this look easy, kudos dude awesome job
Very solid work. Even played it fingerstyle which is very hard for this song. Love the little slap accents as well. 11/10
John Kazantzis Thank you very much man!
Very good job!
RIP Scott Clendenin ;(
Thank you! Yeah he was one of the good ones :(
One of the reasons i freakin love Death
Bass is like the 3rd guitar INSANE harmonies
Amazing! the the slap stuff added in sounds awesome.

Man you're literally killing it!! I bought a bass guitar only because of this video.. Really, wow..
Thank you very much! Really honored that I could motivate you to play bass!
8 years later and still the best cover on yt
You hit those chords the opposite way i approach them but apparently im not the only guy who thinks a slappy octave sounds great for the chorus. Great cover dude hellll yeah
This is the best metal bass cover I ve ever heard
Bass is always too quiet on albums, it should be this loud always
go away -Every Bassist ever
Death usually has loud bass tho. They used to turn that shit up, and rightfully so, Steve is great.
@@roosolini7105 Well on the original Human press. Steve was barely heard. Itp was a little better I guess. But I was he would've stayed for Symbolic. That's when their tone got way clearer. Would've been great.
Not a Homosexual the mix sounded great on ITP in terms of bass
@@roosolini7105 in this album the bassist was Scott Clendenin
The best bass cover ever! Can’t stop listening
And where do we find the love of bass that drives us to improve and progress ?when we begin playing as kids ? The posters on the wall in the background says it all. Exquisite job my friend!
The fact that you can play this song with fingers is incredible. Well done my friend.
This is seriously one of the thickest, grittiest tones I have heard in a Death cover, and your playing is really dynamic. Great job!
I find myself here, 2 years since the first time I see the video, and is like the first time I saw it, fascinated. This video was such an inspiration when I started playing Bass, and, god, it keeps, such an incredible work, cheers!!
Gaspar Acero oh man! Thank you! That really makes me feel honored. Keep up playing and have loads of fun!
That song sounds immedeatly better and more in your face with your playing, great stuff!
That harmonic you added in. Awesome.
Just great!!! And i really liked that personal touch you added, that just fits really well !
Thank you very much! :)
Aggressive attack, slap & pop & chords...brilliantly played!!
That's some of best best bass playing I've seen in years! Especially from the multi genre style!

hayden boyd my bassteacher once told me i have long fingers, so maybe i've got a little advantage ^^
Philip Dollinger ya haha also the fact that your playing that fast with your fingers 🤤

Philip Dollinger also forgot to say, that slap bass was a very nice addition, it really gives character to the notes and makes them pop out more
