Hey Chris, what you think can 6.1m XPS be my first wing, I just started and have 110l board, have 100kg? What is you advice? Or maybe to take Ventis 7m and XPS 5.1m? Or maybe Ozone Fly, but I would like to learn on the hard handle?
Hey, I’d go with the XPS 6.1, it’s really well balanced and easy to handle when under and over powered. The 7m ventis is a light wind weapon, but it might be tricky to learn on as it’s easy to trip over its extended dimensions when you’re still developing wing handling. The fly 6m is a nice option that has lots of power and handles great for its price point too, but if speed becomes your target you might look to change it in a year. In my view the xps 6.1 makes a perfect start to a set, which can be expanded with a 4.6 as you improve and required less wing grunt to get going. One day you might add a 3.5 to the quiver if start chasing high wind in the future.
@@poseidonwatersportsuk Thanks for the detailed answer, everyone tells me that I need a big wing so that I don't work too much with it. What you think with Flow 6.5 m and XPS 5.3 because wind is around 13 to 25 knots and I have 100 kg :)
Great video mate! Hoping to get some foiling in when visiting my mum in Cornwall. We have similar conditions and setup here in Hawai’i where I live albeit not as cold 😆 Can you make a suggestion for 6.1 or 5.3. Want to start out with one that will cover most ground for me. 160lbs riding new 1080 HA riding and jibing both ways and riding waves. Ton of prone back ground. Currently on Armie V1 5.5 and V2 in 10-17kts and 16-25kts.
Hey, thanks for the message, give a shout when you head over and we can show you around, conditions can be fun, but probably nothing on your place! Sizing - at your weight I'd look at the 5.3 as a 1 wing start - it's got a massive wind range that'll take you out in up to 25knots at a stretch. you might struggle in 10-13 knots, especially if you have a little board, but you'll be good in normal winds and won't hurry to need a 2nd wing. When you do grab a 2nd - 4.0 & 5.3 is a lovely pair. choosing 6.1 would get you out in the lighter breezes if thats your focus, but you would quickly want a 2nd wing for the high wind days. The 4.6 goes nice with the 6.1. Then you might consider adding a 3.5 to complete the dream 3 wing set up later down the line.
Hey Chris - great review! Q. How does it compare with the Strike v3 (the other wing i guess people use in the surf)? - i use the older Strike V2s - Cheers!
Hey, both great options which drift so good, you wouldn’t be disappointed by either, but they do feel quite different. The new strike is very stiff and more aggressive (compared to the v2), it’s really grunty, gets you up early and always has your back in all riding styles, so long as you’re confident to carry speed. The XPS has a narrower performance range, but it’s balanced float and finger tip control is in a class of its own when you’re direction changing on a wave, within its range. Have a strike review and comparison vid coming soon, that might help. Or give us a shout if you are near Poole/Newquay and want to demo them
They’re both excellent wings, really balanced and taught where it matters. neither would disappoint for any riding style. I feel the XPS excels in balanced flow and drift on a wave, the flux excels when pushing high performance riding and range. We have a comparison vid in the pipeline, stay tuned to our channel for that 🤙

Epic wing day 🙏
Yeeoww. Epic drone skills 🙏
Curious how it compares to the Ozone Flux

@@poseidonwatersportsuk Thanks!
Without trying to be cruel, the dreads are hard to look at.
Thankfully it’s only TH-cam and you don’t have to look if you don’t want. Commenting is optional too so you know 🤙
