    Hi Chris! precise and appreciated review as always! I have 2 Alphas V2 10 and 12m, I love the 10 (i have bought initially for HF but then used for freeride cause the difficult nature of HF) and also if it's not an upwind machine it have a very big wind range and is comfortable in many situations, and you can even move it in sine to generate a lots of pull! but the 12m for lightwind freeride on a big twintip is not the best choice, the low aspect ratio make difficult to get upwind with lightwind around 11 to 13 knots... and if the wind raise around 20 knots it became harder to control losing much of the comfort... You think the V3 is better in this aspect? Ozone have raised a little the aspect ration making it more higher? thank you🙏🏻❤️ p.s. anyway I'm thinking to substitute the 12m with an Enduro V5 13m that should be exactly what I need! I know you will receive the new V5 demo in this days and I wait impatiently your review of the bigger sizes (13 and 14m) 🙏🏻

      Thanks for watching, hope it helps. I was a big fan of how versatile the alpha v2 is in most disciplines, i feel they have focused the new v3 on hydrofoiling/ underpowered riding which is where it now specifically performs. So in comparison to the V2 i think the new one has a better bottom end pull and is easier to create power and drift downwind underpowered. But whilst the top end is very manageable due to it's more rigid and light frame, i would say it is not as comfortable being highly powered up as the v2. When maxed out it pulls downwind even when the back lines and canopy is loose. For twintip / powered up riding I'd definitely recommend looking at a different model. For cruising on hydrofoil the new v3 is a dream and top of the game. Hope to have a new enduro review out soon.

    Very good review, thank you 👍🏼. I had the v1 1400SS last year, and now have just invested in the 1300SS v2 to get me up a little earlier on my rocket S 80L, as I am struggling in the sk8 950, hopefully this combination will work nicely 🙏🏼👍🏼.

      Thanks for watching. SS 1300 and Sk8 950 is a lovely combo. The sk8 is a much more advanced foil which trades off bottom end lift for top end performance. Stick with it, take lots of wing power and try to make sure you have lots of board speed before trying to take off and with time you'll love it!

    Hey great video as always! I’m really undecided between this Armstrong FG and the Apple Slice V3 which you recently reviewed. If you could only pick one (80L) as your daily, which one would you get and why? Thanks heaps!

    • @poseidonwatersportsuk
      @poseidonwatersportsuk วันที่ผ่านมา

      The choice between those boards is a common decision, they are both really good and neither would disappoint. The construction of both is top level so the rigid feel on foil in a straight line is difficult to massively differentiate. You would notice most difference in take off and touch down. The slice's narrower width and sharper rails make it accelerate very quickly and it pops off the water faster / easier when underpowered and if you touch down going flat / straight it skims back up onto foil. Whilst the FG Wing is more rounded, which lends it's self really well to forgiving touch downs, so whilst it doesn't take off quite so easy, it inspires a lot of confidence in tricky conditions or when attacking waves / white water / jumps. I'd say if waves is your focus go Armstrong FG wing, if straight line blasting is more you then choose the slice. We have both on demo if you are near us and want to try first?

      @@poseidonwatersportsuk legend, thanks. I’d be stoked to pay a visit, but living in NZ it makes for an expensive trip!!! The Armstrong fans down here have all moved to the Armie ML now, so I’m going to give that a test ride tomorrow and see how it does, particularly in the waves, as indeed that’s my jam. No way for me to test the AppleTree sadly, which is a shame because its program and dimensions seem like the perfect middle ground between the ML and the FG… I’ve heard a few times they the AT foam is quite soft in the larger sizes (to make it lighter) so that’s another factor. Thanks again for taking the time to comment, fair winds 🤙

      Midlength is a beauty! it compromises some touch down forgiveness for easy take off and full versatility. Would highly recommend. Unless you like to hit steep / white water sections or land airs, where the FG wing still shines

    Thanks for your review ! I ride the sk8 750&550 in wingfoil, I really love the sk8 in waves. I practise surf foil with an other brand but I would like to go with F-one now. I hesitate between the sk8 1050 and Seven seas 1100. My wave conditions are 30cm to 1m, small waves, not powerful at all but fast so I need a fast foil with some glide and good pumping cause I don't get enough speed with the takeoffs in these unpowerfull waves. So, following your description, the SS seems to be better for my needs but the rail to rail is also one of my priority. Is the SS pair to a Carve stab is as carvy as the SK8 ?

      Salut cisco j’ai vu ton com, si je peu me permettre la sk8 1150 ( c’est la dernière arrivés des sk8) est peut être une option light et en meme temps fun pour toi vu que tu hésite avec la seven seas 1100, normalement la 7seas en tout cas les v1 partent un peu plus rapidement que les sk8, par contre je trouve que mon sk8 à plus de lift que ma 7s v1 peut être qu’ils ont rectifier se problème avec les 7s v2 elles empruntent un peu le même shape que les sk8 , il te reste aussi l’option eagle x 1000 certains disent qu’elle tourne plutôt bien un gars qui surf à hawaii l’utilisai dans ces vidéo. Donc à mon avis allround 7s v2 1100, prone et wing freefly sk8 , dw, glide de micro houle pump eagle x1000.

      @@youdigsurf Merci pour ton retour 🙏 En fait je cherchais un step up à la Gong CurveH que j'ai déjà en surfoil. J'ai peur que les SS ne soient pas plus performantes. Le Sk8 1150 ou Eagle X 1000 ou 800 pourraient faire l'affaire mais il n'y a pas assez de retour dessus et vu le tarif, je préfère ne pas me tromper. Du coup, ne sachant pas me décider, j'ai décidé de tenter le Eagle 790 en complément de ma Curve H.

    • @poseidonwatersportsuk
      @poseidonwatersportsuk วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey, thanks for watching. If you are riding those size sk8's you obviously like a fast and loose foil, so anything bigger is going to be much slower than you are used to (in speed and roll). The seven seas v2 is super versatile and makes riding and pumping easy as it has such a good speed range, but it trades speed for forgiveness so you might find it quite slow compared to what you are used to. The sk8 is such a fun foil to ride, but many people talk about how it is tricky to pump. It can be quite sensitive to pitch changes and whilst the new longer fuse and 'W' tails help, the eagle is a popular option to site in the middle. it's not as loose as the sk8 or forgiving as the SS, but it has good glide, powerful for it's size and is easy to pump. The Eagle X is much faster with a higher and more abrupt stall speed, so whilst the bigger sizes could be an option - you'd probably only enjoy it if you level is more towards the advanced end, with an efficient pop up and exit. If you are there then the 900 could be a weapon for you. If you are wanting a bit more forgiveness the eagle 990 would compliment your current quiver quite well, particularly running it on a 141w or 161w tail to help loosen up the roll and boost it's speed. With time you might change to a smaller option, but the 990 eagle is a classic for many people progressing through prone who have good foil skills from wing

    4,5 really? I just read the advice on gong: To be comfortable we recommend removing 25 to your weight in order to define the ideal volume. For example on the Lance: If I weigh 65kg, I take 25 off, I get to 40. So I’m going for the Lance 5’0. If I weigh 75kg, I take 25, I get to 50. I go for the Lance 5’4. If I weigh 85kg, I take 25, I get to 60. I go for the Lance 5’8. They dont even have 4,5...

    • @poseidonwatersportsuk
      @poseidonwatersportsuk 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Choosing size is all subjective to your size, local conditions, previous experience and how steep you want to make the learning curve vs how often you want to change your kit. Watching back our video nearly a year after filming it, I should have spent more time chatting about board size. I would say going 4'5 / 35L is suitable for an 'average' sized person to learn in average conditions who gets plenty of water time and doesn't mind a challenge. It's probably a bit optimistic for most and not the easy path to learning. If you are looking for an easier path, now days i would recommend going up to something like 5' x 40L. But i'd advise people to be careful going too big when learning, because not only is 50L+ hard to duck dive, but you will also find it hard to control and pump once on foil, particularly if it's an older, wider design of board

      The Phantom has a better rail to rail roll and cares lovely when you have wing or wave power, but it's thicker profile compromises speed and glide. • @poseidonwatersportsuk
      @poseidonwatersportsuk 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The C200 and the 161w are in the same family and feel very similar. The 200 is a bigger size so offers more stability at the cost of drag, it comes in XXS fuse to loosen it up. The 160/161 size is a great upgrade from the C200 if you want a loose roll with good speed. Coming on the XS fuse it feels more locked in at first, but with time this length will allow you to drive it harder through a turn. The 160 lifts stronger at low speed, the 161w is more comfortable at high speed. Hope that helps

I then tried the 1400 and ended up really enjoying it and selling the 1200 as my mid wind foil is the sk8 950. I have ridden the 1500 v2 and it was very familiar. It is a bit better than the 1400 with better glide, lower stall with similar handling. I use in the 8 to 15 knot range and it helped me learn tacks.

      Good but tough question, both are great and neither would disappoint. I feel flagged out on the wave - the swing’s behaviour takes slight lead. Sheeted in heading back out for the next one or versatility to dabble in other riding styles - the flow has a little more range and ease of use. If I were at a spot with variable conditions or long rides back up wind I’d choose the flow. For full glory wave riding with sheeted in compromise I’d choose the swing. Hope that helps. I was really impressed with my new V4 4.5m Strike. Used it recently in 20 kts with an HA 780. One thing that's often overlooked in the current trend towards "hard handles" with all brands...is the trade off...forearm fatigue! I think F-One nailed it with their default semi rigid softer handles as I was able in powered up conditions to just keep going whereas with my 5.3m XPS (hybrid carbon hard handles) in lighter conditions...my forearms were shot after 5 minutes.

    I have the bungee harness lines I use on my Wasp v2. What sort of harness lines would you use for the Flow?

    • @poseidonwatersportsuk
      @poseidonwatersportsuk หลายเดือนก่อน

      I feel it's a preference decision with harness lines. Bungee is great on the flow if you like a a minimalist, hidden line. Personally i prefer PU coated line for the ease of hooking in and out when it's high wind. You can attach the lines straight onto the flow handles, so ones with webbing / velcro straps would look tidiest

    How does it compare to the Armstrong XPS?

    • @poseidonwatersportsuk
      @poseidonwatersportsuk 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Quite similar, they have equally good balance sheeted in and flagged out and both really comfortable and versatile to ride when blasting upwind or riding down the wave face. The Flow probably handles turbulent wind slightly better with its frame flexing and spilling surges of power. Whilst the XPS probably has a slightly wider wind range with its more rigid design making it deform less when pumping or overpowered. The main difference in feeling is in the handles. The flow has a very firm and rigid, narrow diameter tube handle, which lends its self to a tighter grip and opens up more instant manoeuvrability. Whilst the flat handles on the XPS lend them self more to lighter movements with fingertip holding. Neither would disappoint for most riding styles. I’d recommend going flow for gusty spots or people who like to hang off a very rigid handle. The xps might win if you like a firmer frame which has a more finger tip control.

Can I mix the equipment or I need to keep buying the same brand in order to improve my setup.?!? Thanks in advance.!!!! 🤙🤙🤙

    • @poseidonwatersportsuk
      @poseidonwatersportsuk 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      good question, boards have a universal track so you don't need the same brand board and foil, but should be aware that mast position is important and some brands like to fit further forwards or back in relation to your rear foot, and whilst there is a small amount of adjustment you should research to avoid a clash / poor tuning due to opposing positions. All foil systems are unique to the brand and whilst they will be designed modular so you can change components, the fittings differ hugely between brands and parts are not compatible with each other. Ie. an F-one foil will not fit on an armstrong mast. There is a growing amount of after market adaptors to bridge components, but realistically you should take your time choosing which foil system you invest into as once you've put money in the mast, fuse, wings and bolts you are committed to this brand unless you want to start fresh. Welcome to give us a call for advise on making these choices

    How does it compare to the new armstrong HAs for Prone pumping and turning? How do the sizes compare? Cheers

    • @poseidonwatersportsuk
      @poseidonwatersportsuk 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Both lovely foils, very rolly, loose and surf focused, but quite a different feel. In short the Sk8 is much faster and more lively, accelerating out of a turn with stacks of performance and grip even in it's top end. But this comes at the compromise of a higher and more abrupt stall speed which can be quite sensitive when pumping at lower speed. (Note - the new tails really help improve bottom end forgiveness) The new HA has possibly the best bottom end performance and ease of any surf foil in the market at the moment. It is super easy and forgiving to pump at all speed and doesn't drop out. However this comes at the compromise of speed and whilst it handles top end power very comfortably they ride much slower in general. Stock setting The Army is more 'rear footed' and stable which a very comfortable and predictable roll and lift pattern. The Sk8 is more 'even footed', has a faster reaction time and more sensitive to (good and bad) movements and water changes. In short - they are both amazing fun to ride, the Sk8 is more exciting, the HA is more forgiving. Depending on you level and location if i were you i'd be weighing up how important bottom end lift and forgiveness is to you. Also the system as a whole and if it's future proof for the paths your foiling might head in the future. Welcome to give us a call for more advice

    • @poseidonwatersportsuk
      @poseidonwatersportsuk 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nice foil choice, just be aware the 1030 has stacks of lift, so it’ll make pumping a dream, but steep sections and your pop up could be tricky to hold it down, maybe worth putting it towards the back of the track to begin. Hydrofoil wing screws can be a handy tool when figuring where is the right place to sit the mast for correct lift. There’s loads of good production and custom board brands now days. Shapes are always developing and some designs are more suited to certain locations, it’s worth contacting your local shop for the latest. If you are in the UK welcome to give us a shout. In short a few that come to mind - Armstrong, f-one and freedom have a solid range of production options. Appletree, Amos and swift make lovely high spec options. Plenty more good brands too.

    Hey Chris, what you think can 6.1m XPS be my first wing, I just started and have 110l board, have 100kg? What is you advice? Or maybe to take Ventis 7m and XPS 5.1m? Or maybe Ozone Fly, but I would like to learn on the hard handle?

    • @poseidonwatersportsuk
      @poseidonwatersportsuk 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, I’d go with the XPS 6.1, it’s really well balanced and easy to handle when under and over powered. The 7m ventis is a light wind weapon, but it might be tricky to learn on as it’s easy to trip over its extended dimensions when you’re still developing wing handling. The fly 6m is a nice option that has lots of power and handles great for its price point too, but if speed becomes your target you might look to change it in a year. In my view the xps 6.1 makes a perfect start to a set, which can be expanded with a 4.6 as you improve and required less wing grunt to get going. One day you might add a 3.5 to the quiver if start chasing high wind in the future.

The video is hopefully also still a useful tool for people comparing the flux or xps, or people shopping in the clearance / used market who are looking at the strike v3. I’d also note the strike v3 isn’t necessarily hard to get on foil, it just requires a different technique to other models/wings. 🤙

    Sure, so long as there is a small wake and not just white water it’ll work, you’ll just need to select the right size foil and put some time in. At your weight in the PNG range you’ll want to look at the 1010 or 1125 for enough lift to sustain glide without needing pull from the rope. You might also consider one of the largest 2 sizes of spitfire foil in the axis range. Welcome to give us a call if you need advice or kit 🤙

    I've only heard the positives, does it have any negatives?

    • @poseidonwatersportsuk
      @poseidonwatersportsuk 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For sure, there’s always a compromise. I try to avoid being negative, but here’s a few things to consider: - The very rigid design makes for an uncomfortable ride in gusty winds (think of driving a track car down a rally track). - The top end performance compromises bottom end torque, it needs to be ridden lit to shine. - moving so quickly through the air means you need to ride it fast, otherwise it creeps to the edge of the window, there’s no Sunday stroll on the vortex. - it’s fast air speed makes it want to go to the edge of the window if flying it tentatively - so you need to be particularly aggressive, especially landing jumps and jump transition (this might make learning these moves on it harder) - it’s horizontal pull and efficiency when low in the window makes it very hard unhooking and near impossible to slacken the lines. (- it’s expensive!) So in summary - these negatives won’t be a consideration for aggressive speed and performance driven rider it’s aimed at. But an intermediate level rider or someone who likes to be gentle, soft or slow might not enjoy time on this kite. It’s for charging and sending!
