i watched Both CBC and TNT. and 100% would prefer CBC. They just seem to know more about hockey and are little less silly

The colors always seem much brighter on the CBC feed. When I lived in Michigan you could switch between Channel 9 (CBC) and Channel 50 (local station) or ESPN. The Red Wings looked bright red on CBC while on the others they looked more maroon.
On the current ABC feed the camera men have trouble keeping up with the puck.

During the Regular Season in the US you can watch Hockey Night in Canada by streaming on ESPN+ if it’s not broadcasted by ESPN on tv. But in the playoffs it’s only ESPN and TNT. I agree that ESPN is way less entertaining than TNT and that the Canadian broadcast give way better analysis.

Hi Ethan, thanks for the comment, at least you can watch Hockey Night in Canada during the regular season! 🙂

"Hockey Night in Canada" is on CBC (the public broadcaster) but CBC hasn't had anything to do with the production since they lost the rights in 2013. Rogers Sportsnet (private channel owned by a telecommunications company) does the production but they broadcast on the CBC channel. Hockey Night knows their audience (Canadians) know the game so they can be more technical in their analysis while ESPN and TNT know they are reaching people who may be watching for the first time. "Hockey Night" has better analysis but the American channels have the bigger stars. I wish "Hockey Night" had actual Hall of Famers instead of like a Bieska or Luke Gazdic on their panels. Also Don Cherry on "Coach's Corner" was like the highest rated show in Canada when it was on during the first intermission before he was fired in 2019. Don Cherry was really entertaining.

Thanks for the explanation, I didn't catch Don Cherry, but heard about him, when he was fired. It was a pretty big talking point at that time I would imagine. Thanks for the comment, I am from Slovakia, but I just love North American Broadcasts! :)

CBC has been broadcasting hockey on radio then television. They know what plays to discuss. They know how to follow the puck. They know the players. American broadcasters don't seem to understand stats that are important They don't know the players and I've heard them use baseball terms in describing plays and stats. Canadians and Americans along the boarder states would have grown up mostly watching the CBC feed. It is far superior to the other networks.

I don't think it's that the American broadcasters don't understand, it's that they have a different audience. Canadians know hockey and so "Hockey Night" doesn't have to sugar coat anything. American broadcasters know many people may be watching for the first time.

Back in the day, I always watched CBC over ESPN. I preferred Bob Cole and Harry Neale over Gary Thone and Bill Clement, and I'm from the United States

@paulshockeychannel105 I'm forced to watch on ESPN/ABC now. My cable service doesn't pick up CBC anymore. Also, I think the HNIC is on Sportsnet now

@@paulshockeychannel105I once figured out how to get access to the CBC Sports app. But it wasn't easy. And I had to use a VPN. But for awhile, I would watch games on it instead of NBC. I am just thankful I got to enjoy Coach's Corner before it was nuked.
