    Hi! You can actually buy the units separately through LG if one breaks, so you don’t have to buy a whole new unit if one part breaks. The panel in the front can be disconnected, meaning the unit is technically three pieces (washer, dryer, control panel).

    • @geedubb-q1u
      @geedubb-q1u 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Some delivery services will disconnect the unit, then reassemble.

      Realistically by the time one breaks if you get a two piece stackable. You won’t be able to find a new replacement that stacks.

      They LEAK, and it's a known problem.
      I paid over $2,000 for an LG washer dryer.
      Third load, and IT'S LEAKING WATER ONTO MY FLOOR.
      I read the reviews on this unit, and saw that there were some installation problems that caused leaks. I literally printed out one of the reviews and showed it to the installation guys. They said they knew about it, and they knew how to install it.
      I'm doing my third load, and it's LEAKING ON THE FLOOR OF MY CONDO, and if it leaks into units below, it will cause thousands in damage.

    i've had mine for 6 months now and love it. my laundry room is small but i wanted a stacked tower so i could fit a freezer in there as well. and i didn't have the height to fit a stackable combo. this is far better than the junky clunky towers that are much smaller and ugly as sin. this also gives you the full size drum in a compact design. this you can actually wash bedding. the others not so much. i didn't care about wi-fi or a detergent reservoir. let's get real here. it's a washer dryer. how much tech could you possibly need or want for that matter. i couldn't be happier with mine.

    Nice review. Well done.
    For machines with a detergent reservoir, it determines the amount used--maybe a pro in that we tend to use too much or a con that you don't get to control the amount.
    As for the repair issue: if the washer breaks beyond repair, you have to replace the whole unit, that often happens with individual units that are stacked, because if the washer breaks beyond repair you end up buying a new dryer also because you can't find a new washer that is stacking-compatible with your dryer.

      The auto detergent dosing is another feature to break down it adds complexity and expense. I like the simplicity of manual dosing. After the cycle has completed you can see if the detergent has been dosed which is another benefit.

    Also, Found out the hard way that normal, washers/Dryers pairs that can be stacked, will not stack with future models even if it is with the same brand. This means that the stacking kits themselves only work between like models and model years, so you have to buy the new W and D anyway if stacking is a requirement.

    Video was good. I bought this unit a few months ago and so far it has worked great for our family of four including two teenagers.
    I had a large capacity LG all in one washer dryer unit before and the novelty of putting in a load of dirty clothes and getting clean, dry clothes wore off over time. This is due to the long cycle time for these types of units (average 3 plus hours depending on size of load, fabric type, etc.), the back up of dirty clothes waiting to be cleaned [no running two loads at the same time (one in washer, one in dryer)], and the maintenance (lint buildup seems to be greater and since the lint goes through the wash cycle and dry cycle, it tends to become crusty and covers everything).
    The lint filter was located in the drain line at the bottom of the unit (no traditional lint filter in the dryer) and lint build up around the rubber door seal had to be cleaned after every load. What's worse is that in the long term, the lint buildup would appear behind the rubber door gasket in between the drum and housing [no access for cleaning except to remove the door gasket (not easy)]. This buildup would form huge chunks and impede the drum movement. My previous unit actually died because of this problem (plus no available parts).
    Since I purchased the LG Wash Tower unit, things appear to work much smoother. I can live with changing the load after the wash cycle and washing and drying is much, much quicker (less than two hours for both cycles). The cons you describe are minimal to me and I believe you can disassemble the Wash Tower for replacement. Thanks for the review!

    • @strykerballcrush4650

      This unit is still running well for me and the family. I am mindful of sorting the clothes by fabric type [cotton vs. non-cotton (spandex, polyester, etc.)] before putting in the washer to help prevent unbalanced loads that can damage the unit at high speed spinning. From experience I realized that this can damage any washer and this is a trick an old appliance repairman told me to lengthen the life of your appliance. Unit is easy to use and looks nice. Only potential concern is the electronics that all these new appliances have and how reliable they are over time. Some appliance repairmen on TH-cam will tell you to stick with older mechanical type appliances due to repair costs and less complexity in their design. But so far, the LG Washtower has worked great. Lint buildup has been minimal and easy to clean. Just be sure to drain the wash water after each 1 to 2 loads. There is a drain hose at the bottom front of the unit.

    Great review but I think in addition to the steam dry cycle, the step-up model includes Turbowash - which really speeds up the cycle. Also - one Con is that the door only swings open to the left. If you have to place it next to a wall on the right side, its a little harder to get clothes in and out.

    • @Weldemall2
      @Weldemall2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can have it swing anyway when you order one. Mine is against a wall and it's swing isn't an issue against the wall it's at a full 90% with no issues loading clothes cause it's fully opened. So I don't see a problem with either swings left or right.

    @grinningdog1967 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Thanks for the video. We just bought this unit. The cons seem somewhat temporary (setting up wifi, heaviness of the unit) or maybe less than a con, just not a pro (unable to pour a full bottle of detergent into the detergent dispenser).
    Looking forward to using it as our reno finishes. We appreciate the thought you put into this video. Cheers.

    My mother currently has a stacked Maytag toploader that's 28 years old. It's still going strong but...The new top load stacked sets are pitiful in comparison. I told my mother she would be better off with something like this if the need arises. She's only 5'3" tall so a regular stackable washer and dryer would be quite tall for her to see the dryer controls. Her current one has them in the middle like this. Hopefully they hold up well for you over time.

    I just installed this model into my daughter's house which has an outside access laundary room, built in 1952 designed for only a washing machine with clothes line drying.. It's deep but very narrow allowing only 5" either side (less considerering drainpipe and faucets) Absolutely no way to get around the sides to service the backor to clean the space.. I keep a narrow homebuilt ladder behind it, so I can go over the top and be able to climb down and get out when needed. The sucker is really heavy and needs two large men and a hand truck to move.

    Why would you want an auto dispense ? Having all that soap in the feed cup will end up staining it, or getting a scum along the sides. If you can’t just use the appropriate amount while using the unit may say more about the user than the machine. As for setting up the tech part there’s tons of TH-cam videos out there on tech setup. It’s not that big a deal

    Had this for a year. Keep getting UE symbol when washer is about to drain right before spin cycle. Already had them come out and repair. Doing it again 3 Mos later. My washer filter is clean. I wouldn't buy again.

    I have 31" max depth available. Do you think a Washtower would fit with dryer vented to the side?

  • @ShawnLangford

    I'd say another con is the price. Highest end model goes for $3200 CDN.

      Hmmm, maybe look at a different dealer? I’ve been researching this washtower and the highest price I’ve come across is $2799. Maybe try Costco?

    How loud is cleaning cycle? I feel like mine is too loud for it being brand new

    • @waltsreviews90
      @waltsreviews90  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not that loud. Are you getting a metal clanking noise? Sometimes if washers or dryers are too close to the wall they will make a really loud noise during spin cycles.

    Do you know if it's easy to reach water level pressure valve ? I had LG for 8 years, regular front loader and I know how to reach that valve on the regular fl washer, but what about this stacked tower ?

    Question: When you use the STEAM DRYER feature, do you actually see any steam inside the dryer (steam comes from that chrome piece inside the back area) of the dryer? (ours is an electric dryer version, but I believe the gas version also has steam too with that chrome piece where steam comes out)? Anyway, we have the same unit, but when we run the Steam Dryer, we don't see ANY steam inside the dryer, but clearly can hear it making steam and running, just can't see any steam inside or see anything coming out of that hole on that chrome piece where steam comes out). I would appreciate it if you could let me know.

    • @ByMyReckoning
      @ByMyReckoning 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In the manual they said, you won’t see the steam, the visible steam means there’s too hot which can ruin your clothes and the machine.
      So it’s good as long as you don’t see any steam

    • @waltsreviews90

      I don't see why not! The general rule of thumb is that you don't want to put a pod inside a detergent tray or dispenser.

    The WiFi is worthless. Every time there's a update with our internet provider (many we do not even know about) we lose the WiFi and have to set it up again. I quit using the WiFi because it's worthless. I know when I'm doing laundry and I can hear the song at the end of the cycle to remind me. WiFi is a waste unless your end of cycle chime isn't working.

    • @waltsreviews90
      @waltsreviews90  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahh, that is annoying. I probably would stick to the end of cycle song too if I had to keep reseting it.

      I’ve had an auto dispense on my 2015 (top of the line, at the time) Maytag and I’ve never had it clog once. That is absolutely one of my favorite features. There are a few features that my Maytag has, which I’m not sure I want to give up. It’s between this one and going with another Maytag. I wouldn’t be replacing it, but the repairman from our appliance store short-circuited my machine and they have thrown every part at it that they can and it’s still not working properly. After 2.5 months, they are giving me a new washer and dryer since they were a matched pair. Thank you for the video. My in-laws have this and I can’t seem to find the delay wash feature. Does it have it?

      @@kriscroy959 if you want to be green, get the front loader lg.
      if you want to get clothes washed, get the speed queen top loader. This is for your clothes. It can handle bedsheets but don’t think the comforters.
      I have the lg mega front loader for all bedding and a top loader sped for clothing.
