Nicely done! The quicker play time is of great interest to me as well. Would you say that this plays faster than say Of Dreams and Shadows or The Hand of Doom? I always love your content and thank you for sharing!
Michael Smith Thanks, Michael. I really appreciate that and you’re asking a great question. It *feels* slightly faster than DD. Travel is less involved and where to go/what to do seems clearer turn to turn. In that way, DD has a bit more depth (to me). And DD has different scenarios that are intended to be different lengths.
Of Dreams... good question! I’ve played that less recently than DD (and overall not as many times). I’d say maybe comparable in length to that tho my opinion should be taken lightly.
Really enjoyed this. I took a look at some of the card descriptions like Map and Compass and think they could fit well in any similarly themed game even a solo-style RPG. Only thing Im not a big fan of is the scale of the map, while it reminds me of Roadwar 2000 for the Commodore 64, I am thinking more in terms of a single player character in a local area. Cooking up some homebrew in lieu of that actually existing out there.
Glad you enjoyed the vid. I do agree about the map. While I focused mainly on its aesthetic lack in this vid, the scale is also something that could be interrogated. Ditto even just having some terrain impact on the cards….
ashamedly I haven't taken this game out of it's wrapper or the expansion but I've played it with others at the club and it's I would say the best of it's genre that I've ever played.
It’s a fine game indeed tho something about it makes it intimidating until you actually get into it, after which it’s so smooth

Such a great game, my favourite narrative storytelling game alongside Gloom of Kilforth.
I taped a bunch of card sleeves together in columns so I could slide in all a character's cards and just have their stats showing and not worry about smushing them up. (I also used matching coloured backs for each character)

So, I rewatched this last night and ordered it plus 2 expansions. So, waiting now...

I originally avoided this game when it was Kickstarted due to lack of incorporated solo play. An add on allowed solo, but I felt that seemed like the game wasn't designed to be solo. So many other new games were drawing my attention at the time, that I never looked back at this. This video brought me back and prompted me to purchase it. I still like to refer to games as RPGs in a box, as all RPGs I play are story makers, but I can understand your view. Thanks for the review!
coachace123 Because of the depth of story creation the game (for me) worked well solo. It was hard to walk away from all the red dot content which was why I modified the solo rules II to use them. I hope you enjoy the game when you play it. an RPGer interested in this theme who likes story board games... I think you will.

i decided to give FL2 a pass. Not a good AI, and too directionless.
It definitely does have an open-ended feel... I will likely be covering the second edition w/more content.
I found this game on BGG through conversation. I hunted it down and I've played it. I've enjoyed every second of it. Now that you've given it the once over and I'm ecstatic about the game. I like it when you give modern games, games I might play a twirl. Thank you for reviewing/discussing it. By the way I love Pathfinder as well, I saw you liked it as well. Cant wait for your next essay. Have you considered some miniature board games. I know space, time and enthusiasm is always something to contend with but it's your insight I'm interested in. Not all miniatures game are shallow.

@@GeekGamers01 I'll admit one thing. I feel you should give all games your personal touch. I feel you should be the default person to give all kickstarter games to so that you can explain it to potential customers. I'd love to see you actually play a game, tonget a sense of how you think during gameplay. This would be another layer to your already quality videos. All this being said, I would like to hear your opinion on Defenders of the Last Stand.

I was not aware of Defenders of the Last Stand but just looked it up and see why you suggest it. Looks like a fun game! Might be hard to come by but I'm going to add it to my trade list so we'll see. Thanks for the suggestion. (Along the lines of mini board games I have wanted to play Mars Attacks but have been unable to get it so far...)
Many of my vids do so more extended examples of game turns (and thus insight into how I play) though generally speaking I don't do playthroughs. There is one entire game playthrough on my channel, or Invaders from Dimension X! It has its own playlist. Cheers.

Enrico Tabet It has not been asked and unfortunately the answer is that no, I have not had a chance to play that yet. I am quite interested in it.
@@GeekGamers01 Looking at your tastes I think you definitely should try it :). It's really immersive and dramatic and, even if I prefer to play it with other people, it's basically a solitaire game. Besides, in this video you mentioned Arkham-Horror (2nd edition?), do you like it? Are you planning to make a video about it too?

fuzer909 Afraid I don’t know anything about it.
They tried years ago to do a Fallout pen and paper rpg. It sold very low numbers, but was well liked. Try looking it up online, at points I like it better than the video game series.

@@GeekGamers01 they must have watched your video because the second edition comes with chips to put on characters to remind you of special abilities. Looks like there is an upgrade kit on the Kickstarter for anyone that already owns the game and just wants to update what they have.
