That was an epic session and 5k time trial. Amazed you do your editing on a phone as the edit quality is fantastic. Lovely how April watches you over and over again.
Matt, that’s an incredible run particularly considering you’re running on busy streets. Super inspirational work on the parenting side of things too!! Hats off to you.
Sub-19! Get in there! You deserve that for all of your hard training. Great running, Matt and you look absolutely chuffed throughout this whole video! Buzzing for you that you got back under 19 mins. PB attempt soon? 👀 keep up the good running and top notch content.
Great run Matt, you’re showing that consistency pays. 😀 I’ve got under 19 for first time this year and needed two fast races to do it, I don’t think I could manage a sub 20 running on my own. Well done mate. 👊💥
Matt, been following you for many years and you look the lightest. Of course you will run faster with less weight and will feel easier at faster pace. I can imagine how fast you can run with little more weight loss.
I remember your videos being recommended to me a few months back - my first thought was what is this absolute unit yapping about sub 20 minute 5k. Amazing to see you getting to such a good shape, keep it up!
You smashed it rkid! Nice work, I'm sure all those hungry hours are paying off with speed, if you get under 11 stone, I'm sure you will go under 18 mins
Great video matt! I'm also from wythenshawe and me and my girlfriend love spotting the areas in your vids hahaha😂 Keep up the hard work it's definitely paying off👏
Superb vlog again mate 👌 It's so cute that April enjoys watching your videos. What great motivation that must be! Congrats on the 5k effort, and all your recent progress. Amazing stuff 💪💪
Awesome! I’m at the point now where I got my PB in the marathon in October and have now lost some fitness and put on a couple of stone. Need to start the progress again for a hopeful Manchester in April!
You could literally see the confidence after that 6*5 that sub 19 was inevitable. Got to say your looking very trim brother end of 2025 I can see a 17 min 5k coming
Good question, i just do a 2km warm-up at around 5 min kilometre pace (8min mile) before my Sessions 👍🏻 i do some dynamic stuff, tho, like like swings and raises.. but i keep it pretty simple. Otherwise, mate
Thanks man!! I see dome people doing a lot of things as warm ups , a lot of strides, 100 different drills to mimic good technique, but sometimes that is a waste of time and energy i think. Maybe you could show in the upcoming videos your warm up routine so that we mortals can learn a bit from the elites :)
Top video again mate. Well done on hitting target. Good points re the creating and running and prioritising the running over recording. I am just starting with it and enjoy but think trying to record part of race i did may have cost me the few seconds to hit target recently but still learning and we go again. Looking at your route there with busy roads and cars pulling out I imagine on a nice flat parkrun without the fear of getting knocked down or dodging traffic you would easily better that and without risking a bump. I tried to do a time trial on the canal and found too many distractions. Dog walkers with leads blocking path and bikes coming down let alone cars 😂.. anyway well done again 👏
Thanks mate, just watching your 10k race recap video.. I'll catch up on the others as well. Keep them coming, always good to see good honest content 👌🏻 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@MattRuns nice 1. I like the raw and relatable stuff you put out and take inspiration from it. Trying to do it amongst the other responsibilities and commitments is real to me. Any feedback appreciated (even constructive 😅😆). I like the way you put it together 👌
Hey nice runs Matt! Fast! I got question , I have been training for long distances low heart rate for awile 18-20 milers at slower paces 950-10 min paces for marathon training, and I feel like it’s made me lose my speed in half marathon distance. I use to do all my long runs in 850-920 pace range 13-14 milers 9 min paces but ever since I started training for full marathon I feel like I lost fitness . Do you think I should go back doing shorter faster stuff 8-10 milers 830-9 min range and shoot for 7 min paces on mile repeats intervals to try and go for a new personal best in the half marathon? And just focus on shorter faster stuff ? I feel like long slow runs hurt my fitness
Only found your channel last week and have binge watched almost every video! (I got my 5km down to sub 22 last month and injured my Achilles in doing so. Have you ever injured it and if so how did you rehab it?)
Cheers mate, fortunately, i haven't had one of those yet, I've had what's known as runners' knees and some hamstring issues, along with some sort of bad hip this year. But no achillies issues. A guy on here tho called Mark, his channel is Mark G: the Test run. He has just had and is coming back from something like that 👍🏻
Very hard mate, especially the first few weeks, they go away then.. but as soon as you eat something that reignites them, it can be hard to get rid of them again 😆👍🏻👍🏻
@MattRuns I thought you'd say that but then later in the video the steering wheel was on the correct side so wrongly assumed two different cars. Super cool about your daughter with your videos, that's worth a million subs any day
Appreciate that, mate 👍🏻, i noticed it on the last edit and the fourth time exporting the final copy, and i thought.. fcuk it, haha.. I'll leave it as an Easter egg and see if anyone notices 😆😆👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
wish I had half your commitment and dedication.
That was an epic session and 5k time trial. Amazed you do your editing on a phone as the edit quality is fantastic. Lovely how April watches you over and over again.
Hands down, some of the best and most honest content I’ve ever seen. Nice work, mate 👍
Very nice of you to say mate, appreciate it 👍🏻

Awesome Matt, congrats on the sub 19. That 5min session was mega! Sub 18 next year mate 💪🏻
Amazing how much leaner you look compared to the clip from mid September. Brilliant.
Looking very fit now. Well done on the sub 19 🎉 look forward to seeing what 2025 brings

That's a great time chief well done. Just went sub-20 at the Bolton park run myself it's a good feeling getting that fitness back
Matt, been following you for many years and you look the lightest. Of course you will run faster with less weight and will feel easier at faster pace. I can imagine how fast you can run with little more weight loss.
Smashing it. Could you give me some decent marathon speed session please. Just cuz your sessions clearly work
I remember your videos being recommended to me a few months back - my first thought was what is this absolute unit yapping about sub 20 minute 5k. Amazing to see you getting to such a good shape, keep it up!
Ah, thank you. I appreciate it mate 🙌

Congrats on the 5k effort, and all your recent progress. Amazing stuff 💪💪
Thanks Mark, looking forward to seeing how you get on with your comeback from injury. Keep your videos coming, mate 👍🏻
Loved that Matt. You seem dead happy at the moment, it’s great to see 😊
Great job Matt, that 5k time came down quick from your last TT 🎉🎉
Really great one! Congrats on the sub 19! You'll PB soon I reckon. My goal is sub 22 on New Year's Day (5K race in Prague).
Good luck, what a day to race as well.. hope you do it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Well if there was ever a reason to keep making videos ❤ Congrats on your efforts being rewarded with a great 5K performance 🎉
What a project! Awesome result 💪
Congratulations Matt, enjoyed that video. Brilliant time for the 5k
brilliant, your consistency in running mixed with work/home life is inspiring. ✌🏻
Thank you very much 😊
Fantastic mate
Awesome shape!! Keep on the great work!! Do you do strides and drills as warm ups for workout or time trials? Or you just run easy 1-2k easy?
Good question, i just do a 2km warm-up at around 5 min kilometre pace (8min mile) before my Sessions 👍🏻 i do some dynamic stuff, tho, like like swings and raises.. but i keep it pretty simple. Otherwise, mate

Looking lean sir.

Just checked out Mark Gs channel and that’s gonna be a big help, thanks for sharing 👌🏻
can you do a navy seal pst(physical screening test) video please matt
457.2meter swim max pushups situps and pullups then 2.4km run
How do you control those food cravings Matt? I really struggle with that
Very hard mate, especially the first few weeks, they go away then.. but as soon as you eat something that reignites them, it can be hard to get rid of them again 😆👍🏻👍🏻
@ I know that all too well 😂
Keep pushing! Somewhere without traffic and pedestrians you would be at least 10-15 seconds faster..🤔
Some of the best and most authetic content in youtube. Been following since before Manchester Marathon 2023 which i also ran. Keep it up, mate 💪
Thanks very much for that mate 👍🏻
How come your car is left hand drive?
The camera inverted on that mate 😆👍🏻
@MattRuns 🤦
@MattRuns I thought you'd say that but then later in the video the steering wheel was on the correct side so wrongly assumed two different cars.

👍
Keep doing what you’re doing Matt as you look really well! Great time on the roads no reason why you can’t push sub 18 in 2025 with your dedication!
