I definitely find I save up my main eating times/meals until the evening! It's brilliant to hear this is natural and part of nutritional rehabilitation, the rationale of the way our bodies and brain would react when we were neanderthal man is very helpful. I think also hearing that the importance of eating as much as possible in the day too is helpful, as I worry about eating too much in the day as I know I will eat at night, or I have eaten 'too much' the night before. Thank you Tabitha xx

during my first real recovery attempt, my extreme hunger was absurd, and i woke up every night to raid the fridge and pantry! even after a full day of stuffing my face. however, i'm currently coming out of a pretty bad relapse, and i definitely don't have much of an appetite...at all. having to force myself to eat is distressing. i'm not sure which feeling is worse - the extreme hunger and night eating or having a very poor appetite. i think part of it is because over my recovery years i've developed a lot of digestive issues and weird pain (neuropathy and joint aches), and eating big meals makes me feel dreadful. so now i'm nervous to eat even normal portions because i never know if i'll get a migraine or have severe nausea, etc. i do kind of want to eat, mentally, but i'm so depressed about it that most food isn't even very appealing or interesting to me anymore. has anyone else experienced this?
edit: i know the pain stuff is normal in recovery, but mine was really debilitating - i couldn't sleep because of the neuropathy and i was having several migraines a week along with horrible nausea and vomiting a few times a month. it was terrifying and i'm so scared of it happening again. even with the more normal portions i'm eating now, i feel rather crappy. i had an upper endoscopy a year ago and was diagnosed with "cyclic vomiting syndrome" which is a catch-all term for a mystery condition with no cure. i don't really know what to do at this point :o(

I kind of have the opposite "problem" I don't have any problem eating a really big breakfast and even lunch, because I know I need the energy to work and for uni. But then in the evening and at night I think "Oh, the day is over, just have to sleep, therefor I don't need food now" And the anorexia convices me that I "already had so much during the day, why would I need something now?" Has anyone experience with that?

Maggi Messer i have similar experiences. I could eat and eat and eat throughout the day and often have less of an appetite in the evening. Sometimes if I still get hungry after a typical dinner, I now will eat again though. When I was in a binge- restrict cycle I skipped dinner because of what I already ate that day, telling myself I have had way more than enough already today (but that 'binge' was only because I hadn't eaten enough at other times. It was only when I began eating regularly that the urge to 'binge' gradually became less and less.

Yep. I have very rarely eaten after 1pm since I was a young teenager..

I think it might have to do with people wanting to eat the foods that make them feel lighter and slimmer during the day and then finally giving in during the night because they know they won’t have to go out or do things while feeling uncomfortably full or something like that
