I'm a Finn too but there's many bands I haven't ever heard, coz I started to expand my metal taste just recently. But yeah this isn't among the names I've heard before.

It's actually pretty cool you guys react to many smaller Finnish bands too. This one's a kinda niche band because they're just about to release a debut album. three thumbs up.
Album comes out this Friday. I got an advance copy so I hope to have an Album review out Friday. We also do a small band every Monday, bands that get in touch with us and ask us to check their videos, we will continue to do that. Next Monday will be a Brazilian band.

This was the first time listening to Verikalpa for me, I liked it quite a lot! Also, speaking of bands singing in Finnish, I'm still looking forward to see your reaction on Moonsorrow. They play melodic folk-ish black-ish metaI, and the melodies are to die for. I have linked some of their songs in the comments a few times already. All them are a bit different, but maybe Huuto would be a good first reaction since it's one of their most popular songs to bigger audiences.

I connected with this one. It reminded me of Ensiferum, without feeling like it was a copy of them. I agree with you guys in terms of the little extra that comes from the song being in Finnish. I've found that the delivery and cadence can seem more natural when bands sing in their native tongue. It does make it weird when you have lyrics you can't understand stuck in your head all day, though. If the rest of the album from Verikalpa is up to this standard, I'll have to add it to the "need to purchase" list.
I am posting an album review this week on this album, you have to check it out. This band is refreshing to me and the fact the album is in Finnish almost becomes secondary because everything fits well and seems so natural and not forced.

You guys should definitely check out the band 'HATE'.. Some songs like Sea Of Rubble, Asuirc Being or Numinosum. Definitely a heavy blackened Behemoth sound to their latest album!
Everyone speaks with a dialect. The litteral Finnish is only spoken in news and important state ceremonies... and maybe some yuppies. Litteral Finnish is not a natural language, it's a constructed one, fusion of dialects (mostly ssouthern and western). Basically everyone speaks dialects.
Since you are covering Finnish metal bands you are forgetting the most important and the best Finnish INDUSTRIAL METAL band Turmion Kätilöt. They are also regarded as the Finnish Rammstein but their style is really unique and definitely worth looking into, TRUST ME ON THIS! Go do a reaction on their older production like "Verta ja Lihaa" which means blood and flesh or maybe newer production like "Pyhä maa" or "Sacred land" :)
After all these reactions to scandinavian bands,its now time for you to visit the old continent for some concerts/festivals over here,to FEEL it Live!.....BUT ! ....not only Scandinavia got good Folk Metal Bands,also Germany got some!.....check out FINDERFORST/MACH DICH FREI!....and if you are here,you get a free lession for pronounciation the Bands and Titels from me ;) .As you said,your musical blood genes recognize their ancient relatives ;) ....i,as a german,pay tribute to my celtic/germanic roots....if you REALY want to get deeper in the historial roots of this music,check out HEILUNG and WARDRUNA.....not Metal,but definatly the same Spirit !!!!
Stam1na is my all-time favourite band. The mind behind this band (Antti) is a genius. He also started a few years back a band named 'Wöyh' with his brother. More 'heavy prog' than metal, but it's amazing too if you like the genre. You should try out Mokoma too sometime. Less prog and more thrash-like than Stam1na, but a hell of a jig nonetheless! Anyway, both Stam1na and Mokoma are two bands that are almost unknown outside of Finland (Stam1na did release an international album in the past, 'Nocebo', but from what I've red it what not a big succes, shamefully). If you become fans, you won't be the fist Canadians to do so, I can at least say that. ;) Suomi all the way! How I wish they would come here...
As a german i always have to laugh if you say RAMMSTEIN....in our Ears it sounds like RÄHMSCHTEEN ;) ...maybe one day you meet a german and you ask him about the real pronounciation.Lucky me,i raised up with both languages.ROCK ON DUDES!
What I find funny, is that people always ask how something should be pronounced. Who cares! Pronounce as you would IMHO. Foreigners never gonna say names like natives do. Well, some Italian, Spanish or Japanese speaker might come close with a Finnish word, but English has so different sounds and letters don't give any hints to English speakers how to say foreign words. So... in my opinion: not something to worry about.
I am working on an album review for them, and I got to tell you they have heavier songs in there...some real cool stuff. Love this band. Friday they release their DEBUT album. They are from Oulu.
Sentenced is from same area as well. I'm gonna keep bugging you until you guys react to it, LOL. I've to shamefully admit that I haven't heard Verikalpa before and I live in Oulu. Bit too folky for me at times, but definately gonna check more from them.

We will, every song that gets requested goes in a TO DO folder on my HD....we than pick what we feel like everyweek and check them out, we just haven't grabbed this one, but we will.

You are not. We put all requested videos into a folder and then when we get ready to record we pick those that peak our interest the most but also we try to pick different genres for the week, so all week we don't do all Power Metal or Melodeath for example.
Not sure what is happening to be honest we either have the flu or pneumonia, we are both going to the doctor today. I don't think I will do it to be honest. I like to do the album reviews around the time they come out, I feel that too much time has passed now to really be of any worth. Sorry for that. Next one we will...now that we both know and like the band.
