  • New victim rolled in today, an they DROVE this truck to us! In THIS CONDITION! This poor truck has been rode hard and put up wet, but shes still kicking somehow! So what do we do with it ? New field truck? Part it out ? Personally, I think its a perfect field truck. 4x4 seems to work fine, trans feels terrible and the ride is comparable to a horse and buggy. But in true Toyota fashion its still kicking hard! So thanks for watching, and we will catch you in the next one.

    I just bought a 1993 3.0 liter T100 5 speed 4wd.191,000 miles for $700.00 ...Body and Interior is perfect shape...The Clutch Bracket under the dash was cracked in 3 places and the Clutch Slave cylinder had a bolt stripped out. Radiator was shot..I put about $400.00 into repairs and now she runs Great ! It had a bulge in the R front tire and wobbled like a bitch...$300.00 for new tires fixed all of that ! Couldn't be happier with this little gem !

    A wounded soldier that just won't give up - very low miles for the year but boy, they must have been tough miles for a Toyota to end up like this. You guys in The States have a much better understanding of how many miles a car is truly capable of - here in England many people are frightened of high mileage and trade their cars in at 60,000 miles for fear of mechanical issues. My 16 year old Rover 75 has just 77,000 miles so hopefully has years of life left in it yet - not that you're ever likely to see one of those in your yard as they were never exported to the US. Very much enjoy watching your videos Jay! 👍

      Adrian Werner wow only 66K!? Here only rich people would consider that high, and these are the people that only lease so as to get a new car every 2 years :P then on the opposite end of the spectrum you have people getting their cars up to 300K miles and scrapping them when they either wreck, have the engine finally give out, or have some other major failure. I do think something that helps us keep our cars on the road longer though is quite a few states don't do inspections, so there's no such thing as a problem that would make your car fail. But even in states with inspections (like mine, NY) you still see cars with 200K+ all the time, heck I once drove a 2003 Passat with 500K miles on it. 500K!!!

    • @phaeton66
      @phaeton66 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Justin Noker 500k that is incredible! I've never seen a car on this side of the pond with even half that. Interesting that some states do not have inspections over there, something I certainly wasn't aware of and as you rightly say, would go some way to explaining the number of high mileage cars still on the road (even if many perhaps ought not to be...😄!) When a car reaches its third birthday in the UK it must undergo a Ministry of Transport test for road worthiness and is then subject to the same test annually until it is either taken off the road or scrapped. Thanks for replying Justin!

    • @cpufreak101
      @cpufreak101 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Adrian Werner wow, the UK definitely seems quite tough, here I've seen car's from Ohio (such a state with no inspections) which was an old Astro van, had no exhaust, no windows except for the windshield. You could see the seats flopping around as if they were unbolted every time it hit a bump. There were no seat belts, the thing was also completely rotted away with rust, and it was blowing out smoke. Oh and the dude was doing 80 on I-90 in it.
      EDIT: to note though, states like mine (NY) do have similar tests. Just I'm sure the things tested aren't the same

    The frame alone's worth keeping, toyota uses a enclosed steel frame which like to hold moisture and rot out, off road guys would kill for the frame.

    My great uncle had a Buick Lesabre. He took super good care of it. It got handed down to my sister and she abused it. She would leave trash inside it. She never really changed the oil. She didn't really check the engine. She treated it so poorly she managed to kill the engine. But the rest of the car is in great shape, almost like new. The engine was going to die, but it wouldn't have. This car was also built in 1994.

    Yet more proof that you can't kill a Toyota pickup. I've seen that clutch problem a few times on Hiluxs, it's usually a pretty easy welding job to fix it up and reinforce it, but I really doubt it's worth it on that one. I'm not too sure that engine has a lot of life left in it, on the video it sounded rather like bearing rattle in the little ends which can happen with these V6s if they run low on oil or they go too long between oil changes. It's a damn shame as if it had had a little more care that would still have a decent amount of life in it...

    • @MXguy95
      @MXguy95  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I had that exact same vehicle and color but it was a '93 SR5. It was the first year of production. They didn't sell well and Toyota needed to get rid of inventory. In December 1993, Toyota offered a $6,000 incentive which brought the price down from $22K MSRP to $16K. I only had it for about a year because it was nearly totaled during a surf trip to Baja, Mexico. I loved that truck, even though it only had the 3.0 V6 and no extracab.

    These older Hiluxes and similar have all but disappeared from UK roads now because there's a huge market for them in Africa, regardless of condition. I'm guessing the road inspections over there are far less stringent than they are in the UK, if indeed they even have them at all. Stuff like this would be a perfect candidate, it'd be good for another ten years after export I bet!

    Yes, it's been 25 years now and I'm thinking of some sort of restoration or clean-up with rusting paint on the hood and front quarter panels, etc.
    I have searched far and wide for a scale model or promotional model for this truck and there's nothing to be found (NOTHING).
    Maybe if someone had realized at its inception that the T100 would soon become the wildly popular Tundra, they would have offered a scale model or promotional kit for it?
    If anyone out there knows anything about that - let me know (single cab).

      i saw a powerstroke hauing down the freeway going sideways, bed was caved in and the truck was bent nearly like a shape of a banana and the fuck still drove the truck. hell when i first saw the thing i thought the guy was sliding off the road as he was coming up a hill/corner and i was going up the hill and we met at the top, freaked me out a little but i saw the truck 5 more times after that and confirmed it was pulling hard to the right because the damn thing was as bent as a damn banana. didnt understand how or why it was still being driven.
