    To help others out:
On Network Sharing Setup enter in this as the net address: \\[IP_ADDRESS]\[FOLDER_NAME]
Then when configuring the access make sure you select a user name password authentication. You'll enter the user name displayed on the sharing setup with READ&WRITE exactly as it is there, then enter that users password.

I keep getting "Incorrect credentials. Check your username/password and try again." despite typing my user credentials EXACTLY as they are. Very frustrating.

So this was really helpful, but... I really needed the full syntax of the path to put into the HP network path. Luckily, I was able to figure it out! The path syntax for me was:
    \\

Nice start. But this video never shows us how to setup the HP Network. We are only given the SMB component to network file sharing. My HP officeJet 9020 needs to have something like \\host\path\filename. SMB does not work as part of host. I have tried printer IP address and every combination of path filename I can think of but does not work and how debug hint - Network error.

@@HPSupport this doesn't who how tot set up on the Embeded Web Server. Where are those instructions. I was able to get it figured out on my older MacBook Pro (I had to figure out on my own mac uses "/" and the network path the HP needs is "\" but for some reason on my newer computer using os 13 it's not working. Please advise :) thanks

The links shared in support of my reply are all good information. But in no case do I see I final example of a working share. I have figured it out and here is my report:
Use Apple icon > Get info > More info to get/fix computer name with no spaces
      RonMacStudio (for example)
Create new folder on desktop named hpscans
Right click to "Get Info" mark as shared folder
      Go to setup File sharing
From info icon make sure SMB is on for username
Use Options button to make sure SMB is on for username (again)
      Name: Macscans
      Address: \\RonMacStudio\hpscans

There is limited documentation on using an smb connections as a shared folder period. Could someone please help.

    • @Kathelena22
      @Kathelena22 ปีที่แล้ว +2

To anyone else having problems using the smb address, just by continually trying different ways to enter the pathname, I accidentally got it to work. I had been inputting the smb address followed by the full path to the folder. As it turns out, the smb shown on the Sharing window (see the video) already includes the path, all I needed to add was the folder name. Like so, where the "nnn" is whatever number your smb ends with, and "NetScans" is my folder name. You would enter your smb followed by whatever name you gave your folder: \\10.0.0.nnn\NetScans That's it, once I had the smb address, that's all it took. I hope this info can help others.
