This Kenyatta speech was the foundation of the relative peace and stability we enjoy in Kenya. Pongezi kwa Kenyatta for this Noble speech. Ahsanteni sana.
Not many people would have been able to deal with the very prejudiced British in the 1950s and 60s. The peace we enjoy today as Kenyans is because of this mzee. I respect him. And that is a great statement. Even in 2021 It is time not to look backward and forgive the past.
And that speech of forgiveness is what gave the British confidence to give him the country on a silver platter,he became "knighted" as a British and finally the 1st king of Kenya.
Who told you the country was given on a silver platter? you must be cursed! People fought for 10 years and 1000s died. You must be a child of homeguard. And who knighted him? Do you even know what knighting is? Just shut up!!
Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against CBS for $10 billion, claiming the network manipulated an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. He argues that CBS aired two versions of her response to a question about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: one on Face the Nation, which he describes as a "word salad," and another, more concise version on 60 Minutes. Trump alleges that the edits were made to cover up Harris's perceived weaknesses and mislead the public. Additionally, he accuses CBS of refusing to release the full transcript of the interview, further fueling claims of biased editing. Trump has demanded compensatory damages and an injunction against CBS's actions.
“When the missionaries arrived, the Africans had the land and the missionaries had the Bible. They taught us to pray with our eyes closed. When we opened our eyes, they had the land and we had the Bible," - Jomo Kenyatta.
Ain't frustrated but if you can reason with sober mind and if you can do more research rather than relying on what you were taught in social studies you'd understand.
All the colonialist were happy after Independence, the only people were taken aback were the indigenous citizen. Kenya we acquired political independence but left economic independence to the foreigners.
And the freedom fighters were the losers in the end. Those who opposed independence by selling out Africans to the British were the beneficiaries. Kenyatta didn't even recognize the freedom fighters. He made people believe that he alone brought independence..
Only God knows if this is where we went wrong or not. Maybe ingekuwa mtu mwingine kenya ingekuwa vita za kila aina It doesn't mean kenyatta was perfect
As much as I understand that Kenyatta had to massage the ego of the Whites and make them feel unthreatened for the sake of peaceful transition and relations between uk and kenya, what I will forever fail to understand is why he would not allow maumau to own land. The land was to be released from settlers on the condition that Kenyans through Kenyatta administration would buy those lands from whites. But those who were in forest fighting for the freedom of this country and branded mau mau they had no money to make purchases. Only loyalist home guards and colonialism collaborators had money. So it ended up they, those who never fought for land and freedom, ended up benefitting most while Kenya Land and Freedom Army aka mau mau ended up with nothing but pain and scars. Kenyatta disenfranchised our freedom fighters, infact he did not even lift the notice declared in 1952 declaring mau mau as illegal savage movement it was removed by Kibaki in 2003. He never acknowledged mau mau struggle for independence, and kept them out of the top leadership of this country. I wish he set aside some government money and bought back eouropean held lands and distributed it to mau mau fighters, just about 50 acres per man and his family would have been a good gesture. But he didn't. It pains my heart 😭, 💔. Why????
